Steve Dez is a Puerto Rican born Actor/Comedian/Musician/Writer. Dez
was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He is the Son of a Taxi driver
and grew up with 3 older sisters. Since a kid, Steve knew he had a
unique talent that most kids didn't have, making people laugh. Steve at
the age of 3 started creating his own plays in his sisters room with
Barbie dolls. After a few years in public school, Steve's mom worked
even harder to get her kids into private school for a higher quality of
education. When the family first traveled to Disney, Steve was their
translator since he has been very outspoken at a young age. His
transition to private school sparked a passion for sports and learning
new things. Dez began taking classes of theatre in 5th grade. He fell
in love with all the things he could do. He started writing his own
plays, directing and acting. He continued to take theater classes and
play sports through elementary and middle school. When Steve was in the
8th grade he started imitating games from "Whose Line is it Anyway?"
with his fellow classmates. His theater teacher asked him if he wanted
to audition for an acting team in high school, which Steve accepted.
Dez auditioned, but didn't get the part. That same year, Steve realized
that he wasn't going to be an NBA star or a famous soccer player
because of his body and genetics. So, he continued to pursue his
comedic and acting qualities. He was casted in a play that same year to
play an old man. Steve had a very young looking face but he had all the
personality that the old man required. So, he was put through 2 1/2
hours of make up every day for the play. The acting coach from the
school's acting team saw a couple of rehearsals and realized he wanted
Steve for his team. He gave Steve an offer to join the acting team, the
one he got rejected, and after a week of thinking the "Dez Man" replied
yes. He became one of the fastest rising stars of the team. Steve wrote
his first piece "Don Quixote vs. Mario Bros." which got him to a 5th
place globally only on his first year. He became captain of the team
for the next 3 years. Whenever Steve was off school he spent his time
visiting his family mostly in New York and Florida. He used this time
to expand his horizons and try something he always wanted to do for a
long time, Stand Up Comedy. Dez became one of the hottest new comics
from South Florida. He performed shows at the Improv Comedy Clubs of
Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. He later got offered to join
the group of comedians "New Faces of Comedy" and they went on tour to
Las Vegas, California, Hawaii, Georgia, other cities and states. After
writing monologues, plays, and many successful pieces Dez did, he began
doing YouTube videos. His style was defined as "silly comedy, and
outrageous" He got offered to star in commercials for Nokia, Coca-Cola,
Sprite, Sanyo and other companies. On his senior year, Steve Co-wrote a
play called histories, which he got nominated as Best Actor and won
Best Play in a Festival of Puerto Rico. He also gave his class speech,
did stand up, performed a sketch and coordinated his H.S graduation.
Steve decided he was going to college and he went to the Gator Swamp,
University of Florida. There he studied Theater and Business. He
auditioned for his first college play which he got rejected, but the
audition helped him get another role on a variety show for Santa Fe
College where he wrote and performed Stand Up. He also got casted in a
multi-media experimental theater play called; "The G.R.E.E.D. Project"
Directed by Gregg Jones. After working a multiple of odd jobs, Steve
continued to become an online marketing expert by promoting himself all
over the Interwebz. Dez auditioned to the American School and Dramatic
Academy in L.A which he got a scholarship in Acting for Television and
Film. He also got a part in an independent film called "For Ca$h
Patient$ Only" which he played the role of "Skippy". Steve Dez keeps
writing sketches, pilots, monologues, poetry and songs. Dez is still
making very successful YouTube videos and recently Steve has been
working on a Rap mix tape and expanding his personality in all types of
media.
