The erratic Leprechaun franchise is not known for sticking with a single concept for too long. The namesake (originally played by Warwick Davis) has gone to L.A., Las Vegas, space, and the ‘hood (not once but twice). And after an eleven-year holiday since the Davis era ended, the character received a drastic makeover in a now-unmentionable reboot. The critical failure of said film would have implied it was time to pack away the green top hat and shillelagh, and say goodbye to the nefarious imp. Instead, the Leprechaun series tried its luck again.
The general consensus for the Leprechaun films was never positive, and the darker yet blander Leprechaun: Origins certainly did not sway opinions. Just because the 2014 installment took itself seriously did not mean viewers would. After all, creator Mark Jones conceived a gruesome horror-comedy back in the early nineties, and that format is what was expected of any future ventures.

"I need you to focus on your life... Think about the things that you want to know..." Trinity Creative has just revealed an official trailer for an acclaimed British indie film titled Hurt by Paradise, which premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 2019, also stopping by the Raindance Film Festival. Hurt by Paradise is a film about a poet and a girl with big hair. Together they find friendship as the possibility of their dreams dwindles. It's described as "the British Francis Ha... a heartfelt love letter to female friendship and London, from first time writer/director Greta Bellamacina," who also stars in the film as Celeste Blackwood. The cast includes Nicholas Rowe, Anna Brewster, Sai Bennett, Jaime Winstone, and Tanya Burr. This looks a bit kooky but still charming and extra clever and, of course, brutally honest about the way things are. Here's the official trailer (+ posters) for Greta Bellamacina's Hurt by Paradise,...

After giving horror fans plenty of nightmare fuel from his performance in Channel Zero: Butcher's Block, Linden Porco returns to deliver more scares as the titular character in Leprechaun Returns. Ahead of the film's December 11th release on Digital and On Demand from Lionsgate, we caught up with Porco in our latest Q&A feature to discuss bringing the iconic horror icon back to life, putting The Leprechaun's eerie makeup effects to good use, and his experiences working with Nick Antosca and the cast members of Channel Zero: Butcher's Block.

The SyFy Network has released the first trailer for Leprechaun Returns. This is the first film in the series, since 2014's Leprechaun: Origins. There have been a total of eight films in the franchise, with the first one starring Jennifer Anniston and Warwick Davis, way back in 1993. This latest title follows the first film, with a Leprechaun searching for his pot-o-gold. Meanwhile, a sorority house is being built over his golden stash. This latest film stars: Taylor Spreitler, Sai Bennett, Pepi Sonuga, Ben McGregor, and Emily Reid. Steven Kostanski (The Void) has directed this feature, with more film details below. A creature feature, Leprechaun Returns was developed by a number of production companies. SyFy has been involved, along with Blue Ice Pictures and Out of Africa Entertainment. This team endeavour is slated for a mid-December run on Digital platforms. This latest film follows a similar plot, compared to the original.

"I've got a lot of killin' to make up for...!" Syfy has released an official trailer for the upcoming horror sequel Leprechaun Returns, being release straight-to-vod in December. Remarkably, the Leprechaun series is currently on its eighth film. The most recent two were Leprechaun: Origins in 2014 (did anyone see this?) and Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, of course, back in 2003. This new one even includes an old character from the original 1993 film, Mark Holton. And unfortunately Warwick Davis is not back this time, instead Linden Porco plays the super creepy Leprechaun. He returns once again, when a group of girls unwillingly awaken him, while they tear down a cabin so that they can build a new sorority house. The full cast includes Taylor Spreitler, Sai Bennett, Pepi Sonuga, Ben McGregor, and Emily Reid. This seriously looks crazy messed up and seriously twisted, not to mention packed with a bunch of bad one-liners.

Leprechaun Returns is the eighth movie in the Leprechaun horror movie franchise. We’ve got a new trailer for the movie for you to watch that sees the return of the villainous and twisted Leprechaun as he terrorizes a group of sorority girls.
This is one of those silly horror franchises that I’ve enjoyed watching and it all started in 1993 with Jennifer Aniston, who was just starting her acting career. It also starred Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun.
I know this new film won’t have the same effect on fans as the original did, but it still looks like ridiculous fun. Here’s the synopsis:
The film picks up 25 years after the events of the 1993 original, which found a maniacal Leprechaun doing whatever it takes (including committing gruesome murder) to track down his stolen pot of gold. Leprechaun Returns finds the leprechaun revived in the modern day when...

The Syfy channel has announced their new film Leprechaun Returns and they also released a teaser trailer for the film for fans of the horror franchise to enjoy.
I enjoyed the first film when it came out. It was just a silly horror film that pitted Jennifer Aniston in her feature film debut, against a twisted killer Leprechaun played by Warwick Davis. This new film is set 25 years after the events of the original 1993 movie.
The story follows the maniacal Leprechaun accidentally revived in a modern day world at the hands of unwitting sorority girls.
The film was scripted by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead) and directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void). It stars Taylor Spreitler (Kevin Can Wait) as Lila, Pepi Sonuga (Ash vs Evil Dead) as Katie, Sai Bennett (Lake Placid: Legacy) as Rose, and Linden Porco (Cult of Chucky) as the murdering Leprechaun.

Yes, there’s a new “Leprechaun” movie, and yes, you’ll probably watch it if you’re ever channel surfing and see that it’s on. Syfy is reviving the tongue-in-cheek horror franchise with “Leprechaun Returns,” the eighth movie in the series and the first since’s 2014’s “Leprechaun: Origins.” That reboot was preceded by such revered entries as “Leprechaun 4: In Space” and “Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood,” which is to say that “Returns” has a lot to live up to. Watch the teaser trailer below.
“I’ve been gone quite a while, what a terrible bore,” the Leprechaun says as it begins. “My fingers are itching, I’m killing for more; why, let’s try our luck and bet on me gold. “If it lands on tails, I’ll do as me told; but heads? I’ll start a new killing spree.”
“What a lovely surprise,” he says as it lands on heads.

Leprechaun: Origins was a terrible, terrible film. We probably don’t need to remind you of that, though. Zach Lipovsky’s carbon-copy creature feature was a slap in the face to horror fans everywhere, dead on arrival mostly thanks to an atrocious screenplay that never once ventured outside the safety of repetition. There wasn’t a single new idea to be found at the end of what was an unintelligible cash-in short on reveals, lacking in death scenes, and heavy on infuriating redundancy.
And while many had all but written off the franchise after its release, and understandably so, there might just be reason to get excited about Leprechaun again, and that’s because Syfy has announced Leprechaun Returns today. Now, before you go ahead and let out a groan, know that this will be a sequel to the 1993 original, picking up 25 years after the events of that film.

After channeling body-morphing cosmic horrors in The Void, co-director Steven Kostanski is stepping into established franchise territory for his next project: a new Leprechaun sequel from Syfy.

★★★☆☆ Michael Winterbottom's latest feature, The Face of an Angel (2014), explores the intersection of beauty, youth, sex and violent crime. Inspired by Amanda Knox's alleged murder of British student Meredith Kercher in Italy, Winterbottom offers a perceptive, but at times plodding, take on the media's sensationalised coverage of her trial. Thomas Lang (Daniel Bruhl) arrives in Italy to research and write his next film. He meets Simone Ford (Kate Beckinsale), a journalist who been following the trial of American student Jessica Fuller, imprisoned for the murder of her flatmate Elizabeth Pryce (Sai Bennett). Thomas hopes to adapt Simone's book on the case. "Make it fiction," she urges him.

This review was originally published during our coverage of the 2015 Leeds Film Festival.
The Face of an Angel sets its sights on the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, still an open wound in the public consciousness. We instinctively crave digestible narratives of heroes, villains and victims: characters that these events refuse to provide. Villains become victims, heroes become villains and, after years of analysis, evidence and testimony, we’re no closer to knowing what really happened in that Perugia flat than we were the day after it happened.
Winterbottom chooses to approach the case through meta-narrative by creating Thomas (Daniel Brühl), an analogue for himself who recognizes the fertile soil of a high profile murder in Siena and explores how he could transform it into worthwhile cinema. Early on the character receives some advice that’s essentially the film’s manifesto: “If you’re going to make a movie, make it a fiction.
