"Star Trek: Picard" shares more than a little DNA with "12 Monkeys." In its third season, the recently ended "Trek" sequel series was captained by showrunner Terry Matalas, who co-created the wild Syfy Channel adaptation of Terry Gilliam's also-wild film. Aside from a shared showrunner, "Star Trek: Picard" was home to several key cast and crew members who worked on both shows – and nearly featured one more.
In a Reddit Ama about the show's third season, user Drewski1138 pointed out several narrative choices in "Picard" that echoed "12 Monkeys," including references to a mysterious red realm, a new drug called "Splinter" (a reference to "12 Monkeys" time travel), and more. "Were there any '12 Monkeys' Easter eggs we might have missed ... Were there any that you were told you couldn't put in?" the user asked Matalas. The answer? No, but there was one Easter egg that never came to...

Captain Liam Shaw, played by Todd Stashwick on the third season of "Star Trek: Picard," has rapidly become a favorite of Trekkies everywhere. Unlike the aloof-yet-diplomatic Captain Picard, the no-nonsense Captain Sisko, or the family-friendly authoritarian Captain Janeway, Shaw is brusque, unfriendly, and even a bit of a jerk, more willing to adhere to protocol than listen to his crew. He's the kind of boss you hope you never have to work under. He's also not necessarily an incompetent starship captain and will follow whatever course of action that keeps his crew safe. Naturally, Trekkies have been quick to suggest that Captain Shaw and his crew be given their own spin-off TV series. Whether or not "Star Trek: Titan" ever appears remains to be seen, but the current season of "Picard" has not yet concluded, so many viewers are holding their breath, hoping that Shaw and his crew survive to the end.

Star Trek has always been a franchise that aims to ask, "What if...?" Beyond being entertaining and engaging, it's been a thought-provoking enterprise (pun intended).
On Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Episode 6, they take a step further and play with multiple elements to create brilliant parallels to our present-day situations and double meanings that embed canonical references for the delight of Trek fans yet again.
But first, they get the band back together again.
Having Worf join Picard and Riker on the Titan is one of those satisfying moments that comfort and reassure the audience that things will be okay because they always are when these three unite for a cause.
Of course, as much as Riker would like to slip back into the ways of the good ol' days, Worf makes it clear he's changed in their time apart.
While still respectful, he's also not taking any guff from his former commander.

You have to admire Darren Lynn Bousman‘s ambition because he could have just kept going with the Saw franchise after taking over the reins from James Wan. Instead he jumped ship to work on a passion project developed with Terrance Zdunich and Darren Smith entitled Repo! The Genetic Opera. Here was a science fiction horror musical based upon a short produced two years previously with enough character and originality to become a cult favorite. Since then he wrote a couple films that didn’t go over well and reunited with Zdunich on another musical before delving into a comic book universe entitled Abattoir with writers Rob Levin and Troy Peteri about a mysterious man who collects rooms where tragedies occurred and fashions them together into a nightmarish ghost-filled mansion.
Begun as a six-issue series, the property gained steam with its multimedia publisher Radical Studios to go one step further into creating a feature film.

About 11 years ago, Darren Lynn Bousman first got attention for directing not just Saw II, but it’s two sequels as well, and those being the three most successful movies in the franchise, he was able to go off and do his own thing, which was the horror musical, Repo! The Genetic Opera. In the time since then, Bousman has kept with a number of more personal projects, and one of them that’s finally seeing the light of day is one called Abattoir.
Bousman came up with the idea for Abattoir as a horror comic series published through Radical Publishing before adapting it into a movie starring Jessica Lowndes (90210) as reporter Julia Talben, whose sister is killed in a violent home invasion, which leads to her investigating a strange house buyer who bought the house and removed the murder room, something he’s been doing for other scenes of violent crimes.

Many monsters came to Midian seeking shelter from the hate of humanity. That hate brought death and destruction to the supposedly safe haven in the 1988 novel, Cabal, and its film adaptation, Nightbreed (1990), leaving viewers to wonder what Clive Barker's eclectic cast of characters would do next. On July 28th, Tor Books will release a highly anticipated 300+ page answer (in both hardcover and Kindle) to that question with the Nightbreed sequel anthology, Midian Unmade: Tales of Clive Barker's Nightbreed. Featuring an introduction by Barker and short stories from a wide range of great writers (including David J. Schow, C. Robert Cargill, and Weston Ochse), this Nightbreed collection explores what happened after the last page was turned and the end credits rolled in Barker's brilliant world of the lost and lonely.
