Bronze Avery gets sweaty and sexy and leaves behind a hottie after a hookup in his new video for “Heatwave.” On Thursday, the rising pop star celebrated the release of his debut album Heatwave with the visual for its title track with Rolling Stone.
“The ‘Heatwave’ music video is rooted in the experiences of a queer summer,” Avery tells Rolling Stone. “I specifically chose to show different vignettes of what our my community could be getting up to this — from casting, locations, activities — everything. What are all those other gays...

Editor’s Note: The following interview took place before HBO confirmed “The Other Two” would end with Season 3 and The Hollywood Reporter revealed that showrunners Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider were the subject of an Hr investigation.
“The Other Two” may have definitively ended at HBO Max, but the series’ star-studded celebrity roster unique and untouchable. Season 3 included appearances from Simu Liu, Fin Argus, Ann Dowd, Edie Falco, Ben Platt, Dylan O’Brien, Lukas Gage, Kiernan Shipka, Lawrence O’Donnell, Spike Einbinder, Andrea Boehlke, and Dana Delany — some as themselves, others as hyperspecific characters.
In their three seasons with the show, casting directors Allison Estrin and Henry Russell found the right balance in casting the very meta, very weird, but beloved cult series created by Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider. In one of the silliest running gags of The Other Two’s third and final season, Cary (Drew Tarver) dates a Method actor whose commitment makes Jared Leto’s Suicide Squad antics look like child’s play. As Lucas (Fin Argus) slips from one role to the next, he inhabits each one 24/7 — adopting the personality, habits and even the backstory of whatever serial killer or Hallmark boyfriend he’s playing that week. It’s not until the finale that he stops working long enough for Cary to get a glimpse of the real Lucas, and when he does it turns out he’s not much of anyone at all.
Without a role to disappear into, Lucas is left to wander the forest naked and confused, so disconnected from his own identity that he’s surprised to learn he’s Australian. (“No wonder he books,” Cary mutters.) His booked-and-busy career is...

“The Other Two” is coming to a close after three seasons amid reports of a toxic workplace.
The beloved and critically acclaimed series will conclude with its current third season, making the June 29 episode the series finale. “The Other Two” was created by former “SNL” writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, who shared a press statement clarifying the decision to end after Season 3 was not due to being canceled.
However, The Hollywood Reporter credited sources saying there were “multiple staff complaints” about showrunners Kelly and Schneider over the course of the production. Per the THR report, the Hr complaints stemmed from behavior on set and in the writers’ room, including allegations that Kelly “verbally abused writers and overworked crew and claims that Schneider enabled his behavior.”
A source tells IndieWire that the report was unfounded and not connected to the series ending. Max representatives did not provide comment to THR.

The Other Two, the comedy series starring Heléne Yorke, Drew Tarver and Molly Shannon, is coming to a close with its third season on Max.
However, rather than being canceled, the decision was made by Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, co-creators of the buzzy comedy, who said that they have run out of ways to “humiliate” Tarver.
“It is bittersweet to say goodbye to the Dubek family after three seasons, but we always knew, both creatively and personally, that this was where we wanted to end their stories,” the pair said. “And because we are quite literally out of ways to humiliate Drew Tarver, so what’s the point?”
The move comes ahead of the third-season finale, which sees Shannon’s billionaire mogul mom Pat and her ex-lover/manager Streeter (Ken Marino) strategize how to broach difficult conversations with her kids, Cary (Tarver) and Brooke (Yorke). The episode airs Thursday,...

But unfaltering devotion on its own cannot keep Michelle sober, particularly when her doctor keeps refilling her highly-addictive prescription. “It’s important you keep your expectations in check:” In “Stay Awake,” the prescient debut of director Jamie Sisley, we meet two teenage brothers, Ethan (Wyatt Olef) and Derek (Fin Argus), who not only have to deal with the usual problems of adolescence, but also play the role of caretaker to a deeply depressive and self-destructive mother (Chrissy Metz) in the throes of addiction.

Writer-director Jamie Sisley’s Stay Awake, a feature-length expansion of the filmmaker’s short of the same name from 2015, looks at its serious subject matter through a maudlin lens. The film’s title refers explicitly to Michelle (Chrissy Metz), whose opioid addiction routinely finds her nodding off in the backseat of the family car on the way to the hospital, as teenage sons Ethan (Wyatt Oleff) and Derek (Fin Argus) sing notable songs to try and keep her conscious. Across repetitive, overwritten scenes that are intent on verbalizing the film’s themes and ideas, Sisley struggles to find a tonal range that might reflect a more complex set of emotions and as such elevated his film above a glorified Afterschool Special.
More metaphorically, the film’s title refers to teenage conscientiousness about extricating oneself from the minimal career expectations of small-town America. When Ethan gets into Brown University and Derek...

"She's not getting any better!" Fusion Ent. has debuted the main official trailer for Stay Awake, an indie addiction drama from filmmaker Jamie Sisley. The film recently premiered at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival a few months ago, and will be screening in limited US theaters this May. Confronting a serious and common problem of rural families across the country with human mix of humor and levity. The deeply personal film is a fictionalized account of the filmmaker’s coming of age, as he struggles to get out from under the yoke of a prescription-drug-addicted mother in small-town Virginia. Featuring three superb performances that find surprising humor and humanity amid the tragedy of parental addiction. The film stars Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), Wyatt Oleff, and Fin Argus. This looks like many other addiction recovery films, thought with a more intimate story about these two kids in Virginia. Take a look.

Forget about the Disgusting Brothers: Welcome back to the Despicable Twins of Max’s “The Other Two.”
The long-awaited Season 3 of the hit satirical series deepens its disdain for Hollywood, with siblings Brooke (Heléne Yorke) and Cary (Drew Tarver) grappling with finding meaning in their respective rising entertainment industry careers. Cary finally gets a bit of fame after his long-awaited breakout role in indie drama “Night Nurse” airs, while Brooke keeps cornering her marketing gig. Of course, both Cary and Brooke are still in the shadow of their Justin Bieber-esque pop star younger brother ChaseDreams (Case Walker) and TV mogul mother (Molly Shannon).

Peacock’s “Queer as Folk” reboot has officially come to an end.
The show, which premiered in June and reimagined the landmark gay series in New Orleans, was created by Russell T. Davies and Stephen Dunn. It starred Devin Way, Fin Argus, Jesse James Keitel, CG, Johnny Sibilly, and Ryan O’Connell and had been praised for featuring a much more diverse cast than previous takes on the property. The unapologetically political reboot was also noteworthy for taking on contemporary issues facing the gay community, such as mass shootings at gay bars (survivors of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando served as consultants).
Dunn took to social media to break the news of its cancellation on Friday night.
“It’s a rare gift in these times, and in this country, to be able to make a show as fearless and unapologetic as ‘Queer As Folk,'” Dunn wrote in an Instagram caption.

The series starred Devin Way, Fin Argus, Jesse James Keitel, CG, Johnny Sibilly, and Ryan O’Connell. The show featured a host of guest stars including Kim Cattrall, Juliette Lewis, Ed Begley Jr., and Nyle Dimarco.

Growing up in Britain, it was hard to avoid the cultural significance that swept the nation with the release of Russell T Davies’ Queer as Folk. It was a revolutionary series, and one still held in high-esteem today. But it is over 20 years old, and the landscape changes, society changes, and the community changes with it – and so Stephen Dunn has brought it, emphatically, into the modern world, with a reboot launching on Starzplay this week.
To mark the occasion we had the pleasure of speaking to a collection of some of its leading stars, such as Ryan O’Connell & Fin Argus, as well as CG & Jesse James Keitel, and then of course the writer himself, Stephen Dunn. We discuss their relationship with the original series, and how a community can rebuild itself, with a plot-line in this series taking inspiration from the tragic mass shooting in Orlando in 2016. “You have to put it in the script. If you put in the script – it will happen.”
This is Geena Davis’ sage advice to filmmakers when crafting stories aiming to incorporate inclusive storylines and characters.
“Nobody is going to second guess if it says the scene takes place at, say, ‘a police station which is 40 women,’ or if there’s a scene where ‘a crowd gathers, which is half female,’” continues the Oscar-winning actor and founder of the eponymous Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.
“Specify what it is. You have to write in the script.”
That advice came to fruition in “The Seven Faces of Jane,” a surrealistic anthology film that held its world premiere at Geena Davis’ Bentonville Film Festival’s eighth edition last night in the quaint Arkansas city, home to Walmart’s global headquarters. The fest, founded and chaired by Davis, runs in-person through June...

The new Peacock drama “Queer As Folk” opens with a video of naked men dancing in front of a psychedelic backdrop. As it loops, the camera pans out to reveal the TV screen its playing on and show the main lead of the series, Brodie (Devin Way), in the middle of a particularly messy hook-up.
For many viewers, the video might ring some bells to them — it’s similar to the opening sequence of the original U.S. version of “Queer as Folk,” which aired from 2000 to 2005 on Showtime. For Stephen Dunn, the co-showrunner (with Jaclyn Moore) of Peacock’s reimagining of the series, it was one of his first exposures to the queer community, and he wanted the opening to pay homage to it, before introducing them to one that’s completely new.

The catalyzing event in Peacock’s new Queer as Folk is a horrific act of violence. Midway through the first episode, an unnamed shooter enters a New Orleans gay club called Babylon and opens fire on the crowd of partiers. Most of our main characters are among them, and for the rest of the eight-episode season, they’ll grapple with their lingering guilt and grief, with the unthinkable ways their lives changed that night, with the holes it left in the center of their community.
Yet despite the heavy premise, the series as a whole is surprisingly light on its feet. Sure, here and there are painful excavations of trauma or equally tear-jerking moments of defiant joy. But for the most part, the series allows its characters to be every bit as messy or silly or sexy or serious after the shooting as they were before.

The very first thing one sees in each episode of the new reboot of “Queer as Folk” — before the action even starts — is the handwritten name of the streamer on which it appears, with an underline jauntily appearing beneath the last four letters of “Peacock.” It’s an elbow to the ribs, or to regions further south, that comes on strong from the earliest moments of the series; do you get it? Do you?
This show, about the lives of queer and trans people in New Orleans, centers that one syllable, and a few similar terms: Like the early-2000s Showtime series that preceded it (itself based on a British drama by Russell T. Reboots are tricky.
Some of them set out to replicate what made the original a success, but Peacock's reboot of Queer as Folk reboot is putting a timely spin with a fresh take on what made the Channel 4 hit, as well as the Showtime series, success stories.

The trailer for Peacock’s “Queer as Folk” hints at developing romances, pride events and at least one mother trying to pry into her child’s new relationship.
The show is a reimagining of the groundbreaking British series created by Russell T. Davies it follows “a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.” The tragedy is also heavily hinted at in the trailer.
“Like most queer ‘90s kids, I had a unique relationship with the original ‘Queer as Folk,'” Stephen Dunn, creator, executive producer, writer and director of the Peacock version, previously said in a statement. “Growing up, I was desperate for any sort of connection with people like me. It was the first time I really felt seen. The show offered a new paradigm – one where we could accept and celebrate queer love, families, and communities on a global stage.

The groundbreaking British series “Queer as Folk” flies over to Peacock for its third iteration ripe for a whole new generation.
