Birke Duncan became a widely traveled scholar, studying Scandinavian history and folklore in Norway in the 1990s, visiting the Baltic States in 1993, Israel in 2012, Indonesia and Thailand in 2015.
Mr. Duncan earned a Master of Arts in Scandinavian Folklore and Mythology from the University of Washington in 1997. He collaborated with Jason Marc Harris on "The Troll Tale and Other Scary Stories" and "Laugh without Guilt: A Clean Joke Book" which became required texts in folklore classes at the UW in Seattle and Tacoma; the Florida Institute of Technology; and Michigan State.
Birke Duncan has written audio dramas for radio and podcasts, short stories, and editorials.
He married Sara Mossman in 2019.
