Warning: this post contains spoilers for how Orange Is the New Black's seventh season ends.
Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) is one of Orange Is the New Black's most notorious inmates. She always seems to find herself at the center of the drama. The show's seventh and final season has no shortage of excitement for Alex as she struggles to make her marriage to Piper (Taylor Schilling) work from afar, scuffles in a few more prison dealings, and finally finds her way out of Litchfield.
The season kicks off with some beef with Badison (Amanda Fuller), Alex's former foe from season six. Badison makes it her mission to ruin Alex's life, per usual. When Badison ends up in the Shu, Co Greg Hellman (Greg Vrostos) finds himself in need of a new dealer on the inside. He enlists a reluctant Alex to push his heroin sales.

It’s easy to forget now how singular “Orange Is The New Black” is in the grand scheme of TV history. With its prison setting and focus on women who rarely get the spotlight, the Netflix drama changed the game by testing the limits of what streaming television could — and should — do back in 2013, when Netflix was still best known for DVD deliveries. In the six(!) years since it first debuted, it’s become such a fixture that saying goodbye to the women of Litchfield Penitentiary for good feels downright surreal.
The weight of having to wrap everything up wears on the seventh and final season of “Orange Is The New Black,” especially given just how many characters there are to send off and how wild the plot turns have gotten since the beginning (remember the season-long prison riot?). For as impossible a task as tying every loose end is,...

The inmates of Litchfield Prison could only dream about the kind of mass exit experienced by the cast of Orange is the New Black yesterday, though they no doubt would not feel the same sadness.
“Oitnb series wrap!,” wrote Taylor Schilling on her Instagram page, one of many cast members posting their public goodbyes on social media as the seventh and final season of the Netflix prison comedy-drama wrapped yesterday. “Whoa. My heart is full and achey and so overflowing with gratitude I’m a little dizzy.”
“This is a family,” wrote creator and executive producer Jenji Kohan as the caption of a photo of cast and crew posing on the prison set. (See it and all social media messages below).
The social media farewells actually began in the days building up to yesterday’s wrap, with some cast members marking their own final days of filming over the past week or so.

First came Co Bennett and Daya, then Co Coates Donuts and Pennsatucky, but outside of Litchfield, there's a guard-inmate relationship that Orange Is the New Black fans are swooning over. Dearest reader, we have a feeling you'll do the same. Co McCullough (Emily Tarver) and season six's newest bad girl, Daddy (Vicci Martinez), might seem like an unlikely match behind bars, but in real life, they're not only dating, but they're in a band together!
"We are super in love," Vicci told The News Tribune, a local newspaper from her hometown of Tacoma, Wa, about her relationship with her costar. "And we have a music group together. I've started to do music again. She's fulfilling my fantasy of doing duets together."
For Emily's birthday last month, Vicci posted a photo kissing her girlfriend with a caption that could melt even the coldest of hearts. "Happy Birthday to the woman of my dreeeeaaammmzzzz!

Season six of Orange Is the New Black brings new relationships, new flashbacks, and a whole lot of new drama, but one new character in particular steals the hearts of viewers and a few inmates, and that's Dominga Duarte aka Daddy. Daddy may be a drug-smuggling, problem-causing character, but she always looks out for her team, who she calls "Daddy's girls." Upon binge-watching the new season of the show and climbing out of a serious internet hole we're not ashamed of, we discovered that Daddy - actress and singer Vicci Martinez - appeared on season one of NBC's The Voice, where she came in third place.
Martinez was on Team CeeLo, and we are seriously blown away by her incredible voice. She's a powerhouse leader with a huge heart while playing Daddy, but the multifaceted artist is so much more, surprising all of us that Oitnb is her first major acting role.

It was hard to know how “Orange is the New Black” would — or could — come back after its fifth season, which was as ambitious as it was ultimately disastrous. The show became as scattered and chaotic as the inmate protest-turned-riot it was trying to depict, sending every character spinning seemingly for the sake of it. By season’s end, two guards had died and the inmates were rounded up and shipped off to different prisons.
It’s understandable why, after four similarly structured seasons, the show was tempted to slow the story down to follow just a few extraordinary days in the characters’ lives. But in the end, the result was too thrilled with its own daring to make much sense. So the question was how Season 6 could recover without ditching its ongoing storylines and starting over with a whole new cast.

When it comes to rewarding the best comedic cast on television, the SAG Awards often simply go with the biggest cast. Recent winners like “Orange is the New Black” (2014-2016), “Glee” (2009), “Desperate Housewives” (2004-2005) and “Ally McBeal” (1998) all prevailed thanks in part to having the most cast members on the voting ballot. Interestingly enough, all four of these were also hour-long dramedies, which suggests SAG voters are more apt to give the prize to large casts when they’re also in large productions.
What does this statistic mean in terms of predicting the 2018 SAG Awards? “Orange is the New Black” once again boasts the biggest comedy cast with a record-setting 45 men and women nominated for the Netflix prison series. That’s up from 37 cast members in 2016, 34 in 2015, and 40 in 2014. Of this year’s other nominated ensembles, Netflix’s “Glow” consists of 18 cast members, followed by HBO’s “Veep” at 15, ABC...
