A year and a half ago, we heard that M. Night Shyamalan was producing the thriller The Vanishings at Caddo Lake, which was being directed by the duo of Celine Held and Logan George – who made their feature directorial debut with the 2020 drama Topside and went on to direct episodes of Shyamalan’s Apple TV+ series Servant. That movie, which now has the shorter title Caddo Lake, still doesn’t have a release date… but it does have a rating. The Motion Picture Association’s ratings board has given Caddo Lake a PG-13 for some disturbing/bloody images, thematic elements, and brief strong language.
Shyamalan has only made two R-rated movies (The Happening and Knock at the Cabin), so it’s not surprising to hear that this Shyamalan-produced project has earned a PG-13.
Held and George wrote the screenplay for the film, crafting the following story: When an 8-year-old girl mysteriously vanishes on Caddo Lake,...

What happens when 20-Squad has to save one of their own?
In S.W.A.T. Season 5 Episode 19, Street gets stuck on a hijacked plane thanks to the dangerous prisoner he's transporting. The team's rescue mission plans are put in place but with terms changing, that might prove hard.
Meanwhile, Hondo and Nichelle may take a big step in their relationship as S.W.A.T. recruit Nora rethinks her career path.
Obviously, with an episode that has Street in danger, there is going to be some worried Chris, because why wouldn't there be?
Despite their relationship being a pretty complicated one, they still care for each other. And it's clear in this episode.
Before Street's flight at the beginning of the episode, the two of themt talked on the phone, and it wasn't without Street bringing up the roller coaster their lives have been.
Street: Chris, I don't know how much longer I can do this.

Today, Amazon Prime Video released the official trailer and key art for the highly anticipated fourth and final season of Goliath.
If we thought Billy McBride was a badass during the first three seasons, we might be in for a surprise.
Here's what we know.
Goliath is going out with a bang, taking on one of the biggest bads in recent history.
This time, the struggle we've become used to will have to come from somewhere other than an attorney barely scraping by and down on his luck.
His refreshingly frank partner in crime, Patty, takes a job at a prestigious white-shoe law firm in San Francisco, prompting Billy to return to his Big Law roots.
Together, they try to take down one of America’s most insidious Goliaths: the opioid industry.
With money behind them, we imagine there's nothing that will hold this dynamic duo down from slaying a pharmaceutical giant.

Billy Bob Thornton will take his final turn as Billy McBride in Amazon Prime Video’s Goliath on September 24 – which means the character somehow survived the murder attempt in the season 3 finale.
And he’s looking to face some serious goliaths across eight episodes this season, by way of newcomers J.K. Simmons and Bruce Dern. The streamer teases Billy will face off against the opioid industry: Simmons stars as George Stax, the leader of a family-owned pharmaceutical company that’s one of the biggest in the country. Dern will portray George’s brother Frank.
Not only does Billy survive but he returns to his Big Law roots despite chronic pain in the wake of his attack by last season’s baddy Diana Blackwood (Amy Brenneman). Patty (Nina Arianda), who is now working at a prestigious white-shoe law firm in San Francisco, can’t shake the feeling she’s being used by Billy.

Time is always fleeting, but never has it seemed as warped and malleable as it has in 2020. Reality has been a painful pill to swallow at times this past year, but thankfully we’ve seen bright spots through it all, from much-needed movements for social justice to people casting their ballots for a more stable future than what we’ve experienced these past several years.
As important as it was to stay in tune with the world at large in 2020, it was also important to take the time to unplug, unwind, and relax our minds. For many of us last year, occasional escapism wasn’t just a luxury, it was a survival skill, and thankfully there were still plenty of new horror films, books, video games, and other forms of entertainment to enjoy from the comfort (and safety) of our quarantined homes. Here are some of the horror genre’s...

Possibly the most generic, unexciting name for a vampire movie, I didn’t have high hopes for Bit. But it has so much good going for it that I can definitely forgive its three lettered title.
Bit shows the very feminist story of a transgender woman, Laurel (Nicole Maines) leaving home for the summer and moving in with her brother in L.A. On her first night there, she goes to a club and meets Izzy (Zolee Griggs), who quickly turns her into a vampire and soon after she joins her group of vampires. We soon learn that these (now) five vampires have a rule that they don’t turn men. The ‘lead’ vampire Duke (Diana Hopper) exclaims that she “dreams of a world where all women are vampires.

Its central characters jaded club youth who just happen to be vampires — and seem not to have developed any depth or maturity no matter how long they’ve been doing this undead thing — “Bit” seems likewise content to act cool in the shallow end of the pool. Brad Michael Elmore’s feature flirts with various identification points without making much of them, beyond the automatic cred that placing an Lgbtq stamp on genre tropes will mean for some viewers. If the “Twilight” movies were aimed primarily at teens, this polished low-budget indie is for those teens hip enough to be in their school’s Gay-Straight Alliance.

"How would you like to hold the keys to the kingdom, for a change?" Provocator Films has debuted the official trailer for an indie horror coming-of-age dark comedy titled Bit, the latest from writer / director Brad Michael Elmore. This premiered at the Frameline Film Festival last year, and will be available to watch on VOD this month. Bit is the story of Laurel, a teenage transgender girl who moves to Los Angeles and falls in with a gang of intersectional feminist vampires. Not knowing if they want to kill her, befriend her or turn her, Laurel learns to understand the love and dangers of her new and first group of friends. Starring Nicole Maines as Laurel, with Diana Hopper, James Paxton, Zolee Griggs, Friday Chamberlain, Char Diaz, Tiffany Milian, and M.C. Gainey. This looks cool! Fun and spunky and, yes, biting. Amazon Studios has picked up a fourth and final season of Goliath, its original drama series starring Billy Bob Thornton. The news Thursday comes a little over a month after the streamer rolled out Season 3 last month, revealing a new case for Thornton’s conflicted super-laywer Billy McBride.
The legal drama, created by David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro, broke ground at Amazon, landing the first straight-to-series order at the platform which at the time was employing exclusively a pilot model, making its pilots available to the public.
Since its 2016 debut, Goliath has been one of the most popular original series on Amazon, at one point holding the crown as the service’s most binged show. Thornton won a Golden Globe that first season for playing McBride, the hard-living, once-famous L.A. lawyer with a complicated past who seeks redemption by solving cases nobody else can crack.

When it comes to the vampire subgenre of horror, it's safe to say that by now, we've seen every take under the sun. From the Bela Lugosi portrayal in Dracula, all the way to the sparkly, angst-filled Twilight vamps, it's been done and with varying results. It's hard to make a good vampire film and when it Is done right, we're given films like Joel Schumacher's The Lost Boys. A bloodsucker-filled entry that to this day is considered one of the best vampire films of all time, The Lost Boys gave its viewers an experience that simply can't be rivaled.
While we've since received a handful of great vampire films, such as Larry Fessenden's Habit or David Slade's 30 Days of Night, very few films have captured that punk rock, Idgaf attitude that Schumacher's film confidently displayed... very few films, until now. Daily Dead readers, I am...

Premiering at L.A.'s Dances With Film festival, the ludicrously somber Shooting in Vain — written and directed by two feature-film first-timers, D.H. Nelson and Jared Januschka, respectively — displays its risibility early and often. Sample bit of dialogue, uttered by placid pixie dream girl Raine (Diana Hopper) to her agonized shutterbug boyfriend, Max (Sebastian Gregory): "So you can get all up inside my body, but I can't get inside your head?" A real Bill Faulkner over here.
The navel-gazing pseudo-profundities don't stop there. Check that title, for instance, with its self-assuredly smug double meaning....
