Chicago Fire has teased an intense episode focused on Kelly Severide coming up, and some spoilers have fleshed out the details.
Taylor Kinney returned during Chicago Fire Season 12 to continue playing the popular firefighter. He had gone on a leave of absence during Season 11, causing fans to worry he had left the show for good.
But Severide was back for the Season 12 premiere this winter, reuniting with his wife Stella Kidd (played by Miranda Rae Mayo).
Even though Severide still has an affinity for solving arons, he has committed to being more open about it with Kidd. The couple did have some stumbles earlier this season, but Stellaride appears to be on the same page now.
During one of the final episodes for Season 12, Severide will go missing again, but this time with one of the Firehouse 51 vehicles. What happened? We will soon find out.

Firehouse 51 has lost another one of its own. New Chicago Fire cast member Rome Flynn has exited the NBC drama after six episodes.
Rome Flynn exits ‘Chicago Fire’ (L-r) Rome Flynn as Derrick Gibson, Christian Stolte as Randy McHolland in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 12 | Adrian S Burrows Sr/NBC
Flynn joined Chicago Fire at the beginning of season 12 as new recruit Derrick Gibson, an ex-boxer with a troubled past. He took a spot on Truck 81 previously occupied by Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende), who left the show in the season premiere to move to Detroit.
Unfortunately, Gibson’s time at 51 was brief. As he eventually revealed to Carver (Jake Lockett), he’d embarked on a career as a firefighter after accidentally killing a man during a boxing match. But the trauma from that incident still haunted him. He was also abusing drugs in an attempt to cope with his mental health issues.

Exclusive: A week after veteran talent agent Jed Abrahams resigned as Kmr Talent’s SVP and head of the agency’s New York office, he has joined Los Angeles-based management and production company The Rosenzweig Group (aka The Rose Group) as a talent manager. He will open and head an office in New York, making The Rosenzweig Group — founded in 2018 by Marni Rosenzweig — officially bicoastal.
After a brief career as an actor, Abrahams transitioned to talent representation, spending the past two decades as an agent. He started at Henderson/Hogan Agency, Stewart Talent and The Talent House before his 10-year run as SVP and Head of New York at Kmr Talent.
Clients joining Abrahams at The Rosenzweig Group include Broadway actors Eden Espinosa (Lempicka), Tony nominee Robyn Hurder (Chicago), and Kecia Lewis, currently starring in Alicia Keys’ musical Hell’s Kitchen. Also joining Abrahams at Trg is Aaron Serotsky and Jay Wilkison (Younger), a series regular on the upcoming Amazon series Clean Slate.
“After 20 years of agenting, I am thrilled to discover a newfound passion and excitement, as I begin to zoom in and have a more hands-on approach to a small, select list of uniquely talented artists,” Abrahams said. “When presented the opportunity to join forces with Marni Rosenzweig, I was over the moon at the prospect of collaborating with an undeniably seasoned and accomplished manager, leader of such a respected company.”
The Rosenzweig Group clients include Alex Borstein, Sandra Bernhard, Miranda Rae Mayo, Patrick J. Adams and Glynn Turman among others.
“Jed is the perfect fit for our company,” Rosenzweig said. “He is a well-respected, veteran talent agent who will excel as a manager. His work ethic and passion for actors and all creatives is unparalleled and we are excited to welcome his impressive clients to our now bicoastal company.”
Kmr Talent’s March 22 move to suspend its SAG-AFTRA franchise has triggered an exodus of agents who have since joined other companies or opened their own shops.

Kara Killmer is saying goodbye and “I do” in her final episode of NBC’s Chicago Fire airing on Wednesday. Killmer, who joined Season 3 of the hit firefighter drama, revealed in November she would be leaving the series after a decade in the role of Sylvie Brett.
“This is the natural end for her character; it’s kind of a perfect bookend, really,” Killmer told Deadline on Friday when asked about her decision to depart.” I’m selfishly delighted over the fact that Sylvie shows up in Chicago a jilted bride who was dumped at the altar by her high school sweetheart and then ends up across the aisle in her last episode from Matt Casey, the love of her life. I just love that her character has been able to come full circle and it’s it’s such a great way to exit her journey. It’s sort of perfect timing,...

Having Kelly Severide back on Chicago Fire was a nice treat for fans.
But after three episodes that featured Severide, the character left Chicago again.
Actor Taylor Kinney took a leave of absence during Season 11, forcing the writers to think quickly about a subplot.
The show revealed that Severide had gone to undertake additional arson training. It was sold as an elite program in which only the best investigators could participate.
Stella Kidd (played by Miranda Rae Mayo) was mad when Severide vanished, leading to her chasing him down during the summer hiatus.
Severide resurfaced during the Chicago Fire Season 12 premiere. Kidd was still upset, and there was lingering resentment.
Is Severide coming back to Chicago Fire?
It was heavily hinted during Chicago Fire Season 12, Episode 3 that Severide would return. He did that before his vanishing act in Season 11, though. This caused fans to be reluctant to take his comments at face value.

Was Kelly Severide’s return to Chicago Fire only temporary?
In the Jan. 31 episode of the NBC drama, Taylor Kinney’s character was again pulled away from 51 due to an arson investigation. After his long absence during most of season 11, it’s definitely a little alarming to see Severide get sucked into another out-of-state case. So, is Chicago Fire setting the stage for Kinney’s permanent exit in season 12? Here’s what we know.

Arson cases keep pulling Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) away from his work with Squad at Firehouse 51 on Chicago Fire—and has yet again with the latest episode. And maybe we’re just being too optimistic or naive, but we don’t think this will be a repeat of last season. To explain Severide’s absence when Kinney took leave in the middle of Season 11, the lieutenant went off to participate in an arson investigation program. But then, without telling anyone back home, including his wife, Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), he followed that up with work on an Atf investigation. Kidd finally had enough and went to track him down in the finale, describing it in this season’s premiere as “I basically had to fly to Alabama, put you in handcuffs, and drag you home.” That was why she hesitated when he began looking into an arson case,...

Who is leaving Chicago Fire during the January 31 episode?
“[Stella] Kidd isn’t the only one who was rocked by Severide’s disappearance last year,” showrunner Andrea Newman teased Parade.
Kidd (played by Miranda Rae Mayo) was upset when her husband, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), vanished during Season 11. Severide went to take part in an arson program but...

Change is coming to Chicago Fire. Two more cast members are leaving the NBC drama in season 12. Kara Killmer and Alberto Rosende are exiting the series, following the departure of Jesse Spencer as a full-time cast member in season 10. What’s behind the cast exodus? Showrunner Andrea Newman recently weighed in on the show’s evolution.
‘Things need to change,’ says ‘Chicago Fire’ showrunner
While saying goodbye to beloved characters like Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett might be hard for fans, closing the door on some stories is necessary to keep the show fresh, Newman said in a recent interview with TVLine.
“Honestly, longevity is really just part of it,” she said. “[In] storytelling and in terms of real life, 12 years is a long time, and things need to change, just dynamic-wise. You want new characters, and you want new dynamics.”
After years on a show, cast members are also often...

[This story contains spoilers from the second episode of Chicago Fire season 12, “Call Me McHolland.”]
In the eyes of Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman, multiple seasons of any show that brings what she considers to be continual grind from everyday action heroes is going to garner change. And that’s exactly what viewers saw Wednesday night, as old guard firefighters Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Randy “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) struggled with the blows of Father Time in two separate, potentially career-ending dilemmas.
Faithful viewers of NBC’s long-running drama had been left wondering about Mouch’s fate after season 11, and whether the longtimer had survived shrapnel from a sniper’s bullet in the finale cliffhanger. It wasn’t until last week’s season 12 premiere that it was revealed that Mouch survived his near-deadly ordeal. But, as this week’s second episode showed, Mouch is still struggling with the effects of his injury, and has taken it upon himself...

As great as it is to have Severide (Taylor Kinney) back on Chicago Fire in Season 12, he does have some relationships to fix after the way he left and the lack of communication about not only where he was but also how long he’d be gone. The premiere showed him and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) beginning to work on that (while still bringing the heat). And now, the promo for the January 24 episode shows there’s someone else with some things to discuss with the lieutenant. “Cruz, I didn’t order you to get up there. Don’t let it happen again,” Severide tells the other firefighter (Joe Minoso) after a call in the promo. Cruz is the one who filled in for him as lead of Squad while he was gone. And now, there’s some clear tension between the two. “For three months, I covered for him,...

The season premiere, “Barely Gone,” picked up six months after the end of season 11 and quickly answered our biggest questions about Severide, Brett, and others while setting the stage for episodes to come.
