On Oct. 20, 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin were riding horseback along the banks of Bluff Creek, in Northern California’s Six Rivers National Forest when they filmed just under a minute of what looks to be a large, hair-covered female bipedal figure walking into the frame from the left, glancing over its right shoulder, and continuing until it exits on the right. The footage is the most famous, most debated—but never definitively debunked—video capture of a supposed sasquatch.
Now, 55 years later, it remains a popular topic of conversation among Bigfoot believers as well as skeptics. And the profile of the apelike form taken from the clip—with its domed head and large swaying arms—has become an immediately recognizable symbol for a ‘squatch and is emblazoned on an endless supply of merchandise.
Today is the 55th anniversary of the Patterson-Gimlin footage. Regardless of your feelings as to whether...

In the Summer of 1972 Louisiana, Missouri was terrorized by a big-foot-like creature named Momo. This movie tells that story in a part documentary part fake low budget monster movie from 1975. It’s an interesting take on this style and one that works surprisingly well.
I am actually a fan of all the styles and genres shown here. I love a good documentary on some mysterious creature or monster that has never really been seen properly by anyone. I...

The Finding Bigfoot team have captured an aggressive night-time encounter with a Sasquatch on camera. The incident took place while filming this week’s Four Corners episode of the Animal Planet show, which sees the team head to the famed area where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah meet. The crew capture the confrontation while filming at night next to a river where they pick up thermal imagery of what they believe to be a Sasquatch on the opposite bank. Due to the distance and the fact Cliff Barackman can see it through his camera from so far away points...read more...

Although they haven’t, to my knowledge, found much convincing evidence of Sasquatch, the self-described “Squatchers” of Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot will continue the hunt when a new season of the series begins Nov. 9 at 9pm Et/Pt. At the start of the season’s eight new episodes, the team is supposedly “hot on the trail of what they believe to be the world’s largest Sasquatch.” That enormous Bigfoot is the subject of the two-hour season premiere, which takes Bigfoot Field Research Organization (Bfro) president Matt Moneymaker, researchers James “Bobo” Fay and Cliff Barackman, and skeptical scientist Ranae Holland, off to Alaska. … Continue reading →

Countless television shows have proven that the supernatural sells, but so does the unknown. For three seasons now, Cliff Barackman, Ranae Holland, and their team have been looking for evidence of Bigfoot a.k.a. Sasquatch. In Finding Bigfoot, the team investigates tips it is given by embarking on adventures to try and prove that this species does indeed exist. But trying to prove something many believe to be the world’s most elaborate hoax isn’t an easy gig.

A recording filmed by two men in Pennsylvania perked the interest of the team enough on "Finding Bigfoot" to warrant a trip to the state. The video showed a rather clear image of Bigfoot moving through the woods, similar to the most famous video footage of the creature.
"There are things about that figure that kind of point towards Bigfoot," Cliff Barackman said. "The arms are swinging nice and wide. The leg is bent when the weight is on it, and the trailing leg bends almost 90 degrees at every step."
But it was disappointment for the team after they interviewed the witnesses and tested out some of their explanations. One of the biggest indicators was that during a recreation of the alleged Bigfoot from the video, Bobo Fay turned out to be taller than what the 'Squatch would have been in the video.
In the end, they declared the video a hoax.

Some believe that there is a large, hairy, bipedal ape-manlike creature skulking about in the woods, occasionally being seen by humans but generally staying out of sight. If true, that's quite an accomplishment, since the bigfoot, or sasquatch, has been reported to be as large as 8 feet tall.
Others believe you're more likely to find a unicorn in Central Park.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, new episodes of "Finding Bigfoot" return on Animal Planet. The show sends four adventurers on a search for definitive evidence one way or the other. They are Matt Moneymaker, founder and president of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization; biologist and bigfoot skeptic Ranae Holland; investigator Cliff Barackman; and fisherman James "Bobo" Fay. They travel from small Southern towns to remote forests of the Pacific Northwest and the wilds of Alaska in search of an answer to the bigfoot mystery.
Barackman bases his confidence that the creature exists on the persistence of evidence.

At a time when the state of film is in flux, the quality of televised programming available to the viewing public has, thankfully, never been higher. Take a step back and you'll see that we're truly living in a golden age of television, where there's something for everyone and it's often no less than very good.
It's almost impossible for certain types of movies to be made these days. More precisely, it's almost impossible for movies of certain budgets to be made. Studios don't like to take chances and prefer to "go big or go home," which means they'd rather spend $100 million on blockbusters by Hollywood's Bays or Bruckheimers than $10 million on character pieces by talented rookies. This business model not only abandons a whole swath of mid-range movies, it also leaves a lot of quality talent with no creative outlet. This is where the world of contemporary television comes in.
