• only 22% of 2015’s movies had female protagonists
• best and worst representations of women on film in 2015 (and the average Watw score for the year)
• critics are slightly more likely to rate a film highly if it represents women well
• mainstream moviegoers are not turned off by films with female protagonists
• movies that represent women well are just as likely to be profitable as movies that don’t, and are less risky as business propositions
The Where Are the Women? project was designed to drill deep down into the films of 2015 in order to determine how well — or how poorly — they represented women. The project has now come to its end, and you can examine the final ranking here. Greetings from the apocalypse! This week some Texas Republicans tried to implement a dastardly plan but were narrowly defeated by plucky State Senator Wendy Davis. Hopefully direct-to-video kings The Asylum can make a "White House Down" knockoff called "Texas State Capitol Down" for DVD shelves two weeks from now, starring Debbie Gibson as Wendy Davis. Yay!

Ah Roland Emmerich, only you have the antidote to the summer blues. The German who's cinematically blitzkrieged more than one of our national landmarks several times over is taking down 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue once again in "White House Down." He's enlisted Channing Tatum as an Aryan super soldier to rescue President Ray Charles (Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx) from terrorists intent on burning Washington D.C. to the ground. Last season on The Amazing Race, we watched 11 teams that had previously competed on the show come back for another chance to see the world and win a million dollars in the process. This upcoming season, on the other hand? We won't know every team going in, but it looks like we'll be familiar with more people than one might think, especially following an all-star season.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Survivor winners Ethan Zohn (Survivor: Africa) and Jenna Morasca (Survivor: The Amazon) will be one of the 11 teams competing on the 19th season of the Emmy winning reality series. The two, who are currently dating, wouldn't be the first CBS Reality Royal Couple to make the trek around the world, as Boston Rob and Amber competed on seasons 7 and 11 and Big Brother's Jeff and Jordan appeared on season 16.
They're not the only "names" on this season of The Amazing Race,...
