Ever wonder what it would sound like to hear Tom Cruise belt out the Guns N' Roses classic "Paradise City"? Well, you won't have to wait much longer: That track opens up the "Rock of Ages" soundtrack, which drops June 5.
In addition to "Paradise City," the star will also put his spin on a number of other rock classics, both solo and alongside the cast's other A-listers. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cruise is featured on Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive," Foreigner's classic "I Want to Know What Love Is," Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me," Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again," Poison's "Every Rose Has its Thorn,...

To call Kid Cudi's Wzrd's a passion project would be an understatement of downright sorcerous proportions. From the moment he and producer/bandmate Dot da Genius conceived the idea of making a rock record — which recently inspired a spate of irate tweets accusing his label of failing to support said record — Cudi hasn't exactly been shy about expressing his feelings about the band, its self-titled album or the success they've had in spite of pretty much everything.
"We were recording the last Man on the Moon album at Cudi's house, and we just finished 'Trapped in my Mind,' which is the last song on the album," Dot explained to MTV News last week.

Now, with all of that life experience under their belts, the guys are ready to hit the recording studio again.
"In the next few weeks, we're going to be going to New York and we're gonna start writing for another project," Joe told MTV News. Katy Perry

Katy Perry's new single, "Part of Me," certainly shows a not-often-explored side of the pop singer. The scathing break-up track is all about the end of a great love and the empowerment one feels after watching that person walk away. It's darker than "California Gurls," that's for sure.
Considering the timing of the track's release, it's hard not to think that it's about her former husband, Russell Brand. It's the lead single off her March release, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, and it kicks off a new era of songwriting for the usually candy-coated pop star, her pal and frequent collaborator Bonnie McKee told MTV News last week, just days before she dropped the track.

In 2009, a year after the release of her debut, the still-somewhat-unknown Brit won the Best New Artist Grammy. She was well on her way to becoming one of the biggest voices in pop.
This year, she'll head into Sunday's Grammys with six nominations for her heartbreaking 21. But back in '09, Adele — who had yet to build up a big Stateside fanbase — managed beat the likes of the Jonas Brothers and fellow Brit Duffy in the category. After nearly a month spent touting its various ethereal qualities, on Tuesday (January 24), Evanescence premiered their video for "My Heart Is Broken," a dark, dreamlike thing that pushes Amy Lee's claustrophobic musings to the next level. And somewhere beyond that too.
As Lee told MTV News back in December, the look and feel of the "Broken" clip was very much influenced by the British fantasy/horror flick "Paperhouse," about a young girl who creates vivid dream worlds to escape the harsh reality of everyday life, only to eventually realize she's stuck in those dreams — inspiration that certainly resonates with the song's lyrics, which are very much about being trapped in a dark, desolate place and...

Though the title may suggest that the two singles are somehow related, Busta insists that his latest song with Breezy wasn't as methodically put together as people may think.

Earlier this week, building on the breakout success of their Brothers album and powered by current single "Lonely Boy," the Black Keys' El Camino roared to a #2 debut on the Billboard albums chart, by far their biggest bow to date.
And though many were surprised by the first-week numbers, the Keys themselves weren't. After all, they've known the stakes were higher from the minute they started recording El Camino — even though they tried very hard to ignore that fact.
"We were aware that more people were paying attention to us than ever had, but we tried not to let it get into our heads," drummer Patrick Carney told MTV News. "It definitely didn't affect the making of the album, but,...

Busta Rhymes most certainly respects the Cash Money conglomerate.
Some scratched their heads when the Dungeon Dragon announced last month that he had signed with Cash Money Records. Critics couldn't fathom why the East Coast rap vet would ink with Birdman's Southern-based, youth-driven label, but for Busta, the deal makes perfect sense.
"It's real fortunate to be able to have a 20-year career run and partner up with the most powerful record company in the business 20 years later," Busta told MTV News on Tuesday from the set of his Hype Williams-directed "Why Stop Now" video.

Mumford & Sons have spent most of 2011 working on the follow-up to their breakout Sigh No More album (when they weren't touring the U.S. by rail, of course). Though they've been performing a handful of new songs live, last month they officially unveiled a somber new tune called "Ghosts" during a stop at a Philadelphia radio station.
But as the year draws to a close, there's still no official release date (or even a title) for the new album, which sort of makes sense, especially since they're still working on it, as the band told MTV News backstage at the Kroq Almost Acoustic Christmas in Los Angeles.

Mumford & Sons may have stumbled onto Stateside success in 2010 with their debut disc, Sigh No More, but in 2011, they not only grew comfortable with their newfound fame, they ran with it. Sigh was the year's best-selling rock album (by a mile), and they nabbed four Grammy nominations — including Record and Song of the Year — for their song "The Cave."

Lady Gaga burst on the scene in 2008 declaring that the world should "Just Dance." From there, everyone kind of did.
A few years back, the pop star was one of the few singers infusing mainstream pop records with electronic dance music influences. In the years since her breakthrough, Gaga's use of the musical form has certainly gotten darker and more in-depth, especially on 2011's Born This Way.
These days, she's hardly in the minority. Edm is all over pop and urban radio. Performers like Rihanna, Usher, Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj are working with some of the top Edm producers and DJs in the game, some of...

While there are roughly 100 amazing things about Tuggle's performance (we especially like his modified Carlton), perhaps the most incredible aspect is the fact that it almost never happened. After all, as the Keys told MTV News, their original "Lonely Boy" plans didn't involve Tuggle in the slightest.

That meant squeezing in extra rehearsal time in a lower-level lobby before they even jumped onstage. While Rick Ross had previously been announced as a performer, he was not present at Tuesday's rehearsals.

"It's going to be G.O.O.D. Music-esque, which is great music," the "N---as in Paris" producer said when he sat with MTV News last week.

As soloists, Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music roster has proven to be formidable hip-hop hitmakers. Now put Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Pusha T and Kanye West together on one album and expectations will no doubt run high. Jay-z and Kanye West might give it up for Paris on their Watch the Throne single, but the international party anthem is now #1 in the U.S.
Last week, "N---as in Paris" snagged the top spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Producer Hit-Boy couldn't be more ecstatic, especially considering that he initially submitted Jay and 'Ye other records that at the time seemed to be bigger than "Paris."
"The crazy thing about the 'Paris' record is that record just came out of nowhere, pretty much," Hit-Boy told MTV News last week. "I did other records that were talked about being singles and all types of stuff, so I was hyped over those records."

Rihanna has given fans a taste of her November 21 release Talk That Talk in the form of two singles: the Calvin Harris party starter "We Found Love" and the Dr. Luke club banger "You Da One."
The album features nine other booty-shaking, Nsfw tunes about getting frisky, with production credits from a number of noted hitmakers like Stargate, Bangladesh and The-Dream. Another producer, Hit-Boy, made the final cut with his sexy, instructional "Watch n' Learn."
"She definitely murdered it vocally," he told MTV News. "I was just at the studio last week listening to a mix of it, and man, she killed it. I really feel like, this song, it's going to be big. I'm really excited about it.

West Hollywood, California — The O Music Awards festivities kicked off in footloose fashion Sunday night at the Roxy Theatre on the world-famous Sunset Strip.
While the last OMAs tapped Chiddy Bang rapper Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Freestyle Rap (he was successful, at nine hours, 16 minutes and 22 seconds), this year's show took on an even more ambitious goal: Longest Team Dance Marathon. That's 24 hours of nonstop dancing without one dancer dropping out.
A group of 13 lucky dancers assembled at the Roxy on Halloween Eve to take on this epic attempt. It all got started at 9:25 p.m. with DJ Diamond Kuts kicking off the marathon.

Patrick Stump might be known to many as the lead singer of Fall Out Boy, but since the band entered an indefinite hiatus nearly two years ago, Stump has been working to create a big name for himself a solo artist. Currently on tour as the opening act for Panic! At the Disco, Stump is doing just that.
"I know a lot of people still haven't heard me as a solo artist," Stump told MTV News. "[My current] band and I are starting to get into this groove where it's like we've really proven it to the immediate people around us, so now it's just going out and taking no prisoners."

It's been close to a decade since Kelly Clarkson became the first-ever American Idol. In the years since her 2002 win on the show, she's become a pop star who's known for her big voice and empowering pop anthems. Five albums and multiple hit songs later, Clarkson has some perspective on her career.
"I think I can be a very serious person, so I think me taking everything so to heart ... especially when I first started out, anytime I slipped on a note or forgot a word or I'd do something wrong, that wasn't huge, [but] it was just like, it wasn't perfect. I was very much a perfectionist," she explained. "And I fight that still, but I'm a lot easier now.

Montclair, California -- Big Snoop D-o-Double-g celebrates his 40th birthday Thursday (October 20), but on Wednesday night, he was all business.
Well, business as usual. Snoop spent the evening shooting a music video with Wiz Khalifa for the track "Young, Wild & Free." It's the first song from the soundtrack of the duo's upcoming stoner comedy, "Mac & Devin Go to High School."
It was quite a spectacle on the video set. The mellow MCs took over a drive-in movie theater an hour outside Los Angeles with tons of tricked-out rides and a variety of video vixens. The clip was directed by Dylan Brown, who also handled directing duties on the film.

"I'm a big fan of Evanescence, so it's really exciting to be opening for them," she told us.
The accolades went both ways: Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee had nothing but nice things to say about the young rocker.
"She's got a great voice; she's real sweet," Lee said with a smile, laughing that being one of Momsen's first concerts makes her feel "old, but very, very flattered.

Los Angeles — Backstage at the historic Hollywood Palladium on Tuesday, Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee was beaming. She was just hours away from playing to an army of eager fans (who, by the way, started forming a line around the venue early in the day). And of course, her band released its long-awaited third album, Evanescence, on the same day.
"There's a big line out there for sure," Lee told MTV News. "I don't know what to say, it was really cute. I went and bought my album at Amoeba [Music] and then I was on my way back and I had my little album on my lap, and they were all looking at their albums too. I think they just came from there.
