Philippe Rondot was born on 5 October 1936 in Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle, France. He was a writer, known for L'infiltré (2011) and Le bal des menteurs (2011). He died on 26 December 2017 in Fléty, Nièvre, France.
Son of general Pierre Rondot specialist in MidEast affairs , he was an officer and author, He was a member of the French intelligence service (SDECE) where he served a specialist on the Middle East. He later worked for the DST, the French equivalent of MI5. He captured in 1994 the terrorist Carlos in Soudan and was a negotiator in other high-level affairs., For this life work he also became a general. He later was also a witness in the Clearstream affair.
