Jayanta Pathak(I)
- Composer
- Music Department
- Producer
Jayanta has been relentlessly contributing to the Cinematic Arts as a Composer, Musician, Music Producer with such ease and finesse, that it is difficult to figure out which role he juggles best.
Jayanta is someone who is terse and pithy with his digital style in an industry where technology is so wide open. Pushing every possible slant, daring his way with his crafty ethnic music techniques and striking it with the perfect blend of technology, is what stood him out in the music industry; making it a unique affair and channeling new directions for him. Constantly innovating his style, he devised a way in which he could stealthily slip into the foray of digital music and sign it with his distinct compositional style.
Since the early 90's he has been working in Mumbai and London. During the 90's, he established himself as a Composer in the Indian Music and Film Industry. His album catalog spans the 90's and 2000's , with his widely acclaimed efforts in more than two dozen major music albums (Josh, Jalwa, Moksh, Back to Disco, "Adaab Nusrat Saab", War of The DJ's, Jazba, Bollywood dream themes, Romanov Party Mania, Style Unlimited, Umang etc.) with artists of various genres from India and abroad, including pop stars and other music legends, Melissa Bell (from Soul 2 Soul band), Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, channel V pop stars and many more play back singers from Indian Film Industry. He's been composing and producing original soundtracks and background scores for American, Indian and British feature films.
Veteran Composer Jayanta Pathak, also popularly known as the "King of Remixes" in the Indian Music Circle, can most fittingly be called a Juggler during 90's and 2000's. Coming from Assam, his penchant for music was innate and his sense uncanny, "Something about the entrails of the hills and forests that beckons. Like a geophysical oddity one inheres." This fascinating inheritance evinces from his pioneering and copious use of ethnic instruments and sampling them in digital format. Conjuring up iconic sounds, he has managed to create quite the stir of a commercial throb in India, Europe and America. Among the many firsts to his credit, was when for the first time in India he infused Indian classical and ethnic tunes into Modern Techno and House Music (Moksh, Josh 1997). His iconoclastic and ethnic sounds have found their way in the hottest releases which he scored and produced with some of finest DJ's from India. His is a well known name in music production among all the stalwart record labels like Times Music, Universal Music India, HMV (Sa re ga ma) & T series, BMG Crescendo.
