Todd Hoffman was originally the creator of Gold Rush on Discovery Channel and he’s still in the mining game, but he also sells gold, like his “potato” nugget. He does take a break from mining interests because he’s also a singer and did quite well. Always aware that financial depression can cause problems, he keeps an eye on what’s happening with inflation and the value of gold.
After Gold Rush, Todd Filmed For Hoffman Family Gold
In 2022, fans who follow Discovery mining shows heard that the Hoffman family was on TV with Hoffman Family Gold. At the time, they faced a challenge to extract a profitable amount of gold in Alaska, north of Nome. Similar scenes play out on Discovery’s Gold Rush all the time. Limited time, dangerous working conditions, and a make-or-break situation keep fans coming back more.

Treasure is all around you, if you just know where to look. That’s the message of the new Discovery Channel reality series America’s Backyard Gold. In a sneak peek from the March 15 series premiere, host Dave Turin teams up with an amateur prospector to hunt for gold. In just minutes, their search turns up a nugget worth $100. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to potential finds.

Turin spent more than a decade digging for buried treasure on Gold Rush and Dave Turin’s Lost Mine. Those shows focused on professional miners hunting for gold. The risks (and the equipment) were big, but so was the potential reward.

TV host Josh Gates of Expedition Unknown had a chance to take a trip on the doomed Titan submersible but declined the opportunity because of fears the vessel was unsafe, he revealed on Twitter.
The Discovery Channel personality considered visiting the wreckage of the Titanic on the OceanGate Expeditions submersible. But a troubling dive with CEO Stockton Rush led Gates to cancel plans to film the most famous shipwreck site in history.
“I had the unique opportunity to dive in the @Oceangate #Titan sub with Stockton at the helm in preparation for its maiden mission to Titanic,” Gates tweeted on June 21.
Gates added that he was “pray[ing] for a positive outcome to the rescue efforts of those aboard,” which was still missing at the time. One day later, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed that the Titan has experienced a “catastrophic implosion” that killed all five people aboard. In addition to Rush,...

The stakes are high in season 2 of the Discovery Channel reality series Hoffman Family Gold. Series star Todd Hoffman has put it all on the line financially in the hopes he’ll hit pay dirt at Alaska’s Mammoth Valley Mine. But simmering father-son conflicts, weather challenges, and other hurdles could stand in the way of his goal of mining 1,000 ounces of gold.
In the season premiere, which aired June 16, Todd’s son Hunter Hoffman approached his dad about running his own wash plant, arguing that the move would increase the odds they’d hit their 1,000-ounce target. Hunter’s desire to strike out on his own – and his willingness to go toe-to-toe with his dad when they disagree – sets the stage for some serious clashes to come. But it’s not all about the family drama, Hoffman assured Showbiz Cheat Sheet in an interview.

Before the streaming wars, there were the cola wars. In an effort to antagonize perennial sugar-water leader Coca-Cola, PepsiCo went to battle in 1996 with Pepsi Stuff, a loyalty program that provided prizes for Pepsi Points — including, according to a TV commercial, a Harrier Jet. However, Pepsi did not actually bring a Harrier to its dogfight.
The soda company not only failed to put a disclaimer on its now-iconic advertisement, it also didn’t realize that someone could actually collect the required 7 million points and try to redeem them for a plane valued at more than 30 million.
Netflix documentary series “Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?” chronicles the fallout — nearly devastating for Goliath Pepsi and nearly a major windfall for a pair of Davids, John Leonard and Todd Hoffman — from an unbelievable advertising oversight.
Leonard, then a 20-year-old climbing guide, saw the commercial’s inclusion of the jet as a legitimate offer. Hoffman,...

Pepsi, Where’s My Jet? is a documentary miniseries directed by Andrew Renzi.
In four episodes we are told the incredible story of a young man, and his friend and business partner, who developed a business plan to win a Harrier fighter jet for 7 million Pepsi points.
Premise
Pepsi ran a marketing campaign in the mid 90’s, offering Pepsi paraphernalia in exchange for Pepsi points. In one of the ads, it showed a young lad get out of a fighter jet, below was written “Harrier Fighter Pepsi 7,000,000 points”, without fine print, no disclaimers, just that phrase – hence, an offer. The ad did not go ignored by a 20-year-old, John Leonard, who took them up on the “offer”. Now, Pepsi was in a bind.
Series Review Pepsi Where is My Jet?
A truly amusing doc series, with colorful characters and a good story to tell. It is a lively number, as the characters themselves.

Netflix is on a bit of a true crime heater at the moment. Thanks to the Ryan Murphy double feature of Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher, Netflix was the go-to place for true crime nerds last month. But what does the streamer have on deck to keep the good times rolling in November 2022? Quite a lot as it turns out actually.
Netflix’s true crime division will machine to churn out content this November It starts early with the release of Killer Sally on Nov. 2 and goes all the way through to Take Your Pills: Xanax on Nov. 30. As that last example makes clear, true crime doesn’t always have to be about murder (though it so often is). In fact, this months’ Netflix true crime offerings are fairly diverse in subject matter. Pepsi, Where’s My Jet? on Nov. 17 is all about a corporate promotional giveaway gone wrong,...

Did Pepsi actually launch an ad campaign in which they seemed to promise a Harrier jet to anyone who collected enough Pepsi Points? Strange as it sounds, they did. The Netflix documentary series Pepsi, Where’s My Jet? follows the case of John Leonard, the man who attempted to get Pepsi to give him a jet and ultimately sued the corporation when they refused to come through.
Netflix just dropped the trailer for the docuseries and announced the four-part series will premiere on November 17, 2022. The streaming service also released the following description of Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?:
“The year was 1996, and the cola wars were raging. Because no media story of the ’90s is complete without a streaming documentary about it, a docuseries examining a court case over an infamous Pepsi commercial is heading to Netflix. Four-part docuseries “Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?” will touch down onto the streamer November 17.
The series, which cheekily takes its name from stoner comedy “Dude, Where’s My Car?,” revolves around John Leonard, a college student who, in 1996, went on an ambitious quest to obtain 7 million “Pepsi Points,” a loyalty program that offered merchandise for customers who bought enough Pepsi cans. In a commercial for the program, Pepsi advertised that 7 million points (equivalent to about 4.3 million in Pepsi cases) could be redeemed for an Av-8 Harrier II jet.
The Coke competitor made it even easier via some fine print in the catalog that allowed one to buy Pepsi Points for just 10 cents apiece. In this case, 15 legitimate Pepsi Points plus a...

Gold Rush has been on the air since 2010, and during that time the series has undergone quite a few cast changes. One of the most notable is Todd Hoffman’s (and his father’s) departure from the show in 2018. After appearing in the first eight seasons of the series, his absence was definitely felt by fans. Although it’s been a few years since his last time on Gold Rush, there are still lots of viewers who are curious about why he left in the first place. This is sadly true. We had the most fun creating this show. I want to thank the fans who gave us a shot and kept coming back for more. Season 1 & 2 are still streaming. P.S. Any thoughts on who was Coralee’s baby daddy? I guess we will never know.

Turns out Netflix’s appetite for “Insatiable” wasn’t entirely, well, insatiable.
The dark comedy, which faced considerable backlash and was accused of promoting fat shaming before it even premiered, has been canceled by Netflix after two seasons.
“Insatiable” followed Patty (Debby Ryan), who for years has been bullied, ignored, and underestimated by those around her because of her weight. But now that she finds herself suddenly thin, Patty is out for payback against anyone who has ever made her feel bad about herself.
In addition to Ryan, the series starred Dallas Roberts, Alyssa Milano, Christopher Gorham, Erinn Westbrook, Michael Provost, Kimmy Shields, Irene Choi, and Sarah Colonna. Lauren Gussis created the series and served as executive producer alongside Ryan Seacrest, Nina Wass, Andrea Shay, Todd Hoffman, and Dennis Kim. CBS Television Studios produced the show.
Milano appeared to confirm the news in a tweet from Feb. 4.

The network will launch the 50 Cent-exec produced drama on its digital service My5 as part of a strategy of bolstering the VOD platform with first-run exclusives.
The Oath, which has been renewed for a second season by Crackle, was created by Joe Halpin (Hawaii Five-0) and explores a world of gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend. It sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join—only a select few make the cut—but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outside and from within their own ranks.
It stars Sean Bean, Ryan Kwanten, also a producer, Cory Hardrict, Katrina Law, Arlen Escarpeta and J.J. Soria. Rounding out the ensemble cast are: Elisabeth Röhm,...

As the motion picture industry shrinks and TV arena expands, more creative power should be relegated to producers. That was the message today at Intv’s panel “Creative Financing and Strategic Partners: Thinking Outside the Box.”
“At the end of the day, it’s about the producers and the content they want to create,” said Anonymous Content COO Matthew Velkes.
Packaging all of your talent, behind the scenes and in front of the camera and attaching it to IP is the only way to go before selling it around town, said the panel at the Jerusalem-set fest, which was also comprised of Jan Motjo, CEO of Beta Films; Todd Hoffman, founder and CEO of Storied Media Group; and Emilio Schenkar, CEO of Tadmor Entertainment.

Gold Rush creator and star Todd Hoffman has partnered with Bering Sea Gold executive producers Thom Beers and Jeff Conroy on another series set in the world of amateur gold mining, this time in the competition reality space.
Hoffman and Jose Behar’s Züm Media has signed a development deal with Beers and Conroy’s new multi-platform production company BoBCat Studios to create the show.
Tentatively titled Greenhorn Gold, the series will feature a cast of men and women from all walks of life as novice miners attempting to dig for gold in a blue collar, competition-style reality show. After a massive tryout, the greenhorn miners will be eliminated one-by one until only six remain at the end of the season. Those six will walk away with life-changing money in raw gold to take home to their families.
