- At the age of eight, Sherry saw her first Motion Picture Academy Award Show on television and from then on she dreamed of going to the Oscars. In 2010, that dream came true when she walked the red carpet with the stars and attended the Oscar awards ceremony live. This is but one example of how the world of Sherry's dreams and the pathway of her accomplishments often lead to the same destination.
Sherry grew up with the entertainment world in her dreams. She studied voice and acting and was in many theatrical productions. In 1980, Sherry decided it was time to change careers. With nothing but love for entertainment and a driving passion to do well, Sherry walked in the doors of the closest thing to the entertainment world that Salem, Oregon had to offer...Radio station KSLM/KSKD. Despite her lack of experience, the management of KSLM/KSKD recognized the potential and work ethic that Sherry was willing to bring to this job and they decided to "give her a try". Over the course of the next seven years, Sherry's ability to work with a variety of business owners and produce clear results led her to be offered the General Manager's position for KSLM Radio in 1987.
In 1981, shortly after starting at KSLM/KSKD Sherry was asked to help with a Tin Man costume for a local production of The Wizard of Oz. It soon became clear that Sherry had more talents to offer than threading a needle, and she was asked to take on a larger role in costuming. She soon took on the role of costume designer where she conceptualized, designed, and supervised costume production for elaborate shows like Oklahoma, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, and dozens more.
By 1990, the local radio industry was undergoing mass changes. Deregulation had led to the growing consolidation of radio stations into larger conglomerates. While this may have had merit on a business model, it did not provide the local service and commitment that Sherry had built her reputation on. Therefore, Sherry elected to change careers again in 1990. Sherry was recruited to work for the State of Oregon where she brought her people-skills, research abilities, and strong work ethic. Soon she was being asked to take on larger leadership roles including synchronizing budgets and coordinating with the Legislature. Sherry continued working with the State of Oregon until her retirement in 2008.
Throughout the 1980s Sherry continued to undertake a wider range of responsibilities and roles on stage and behind stage in area theaters. This culminated in 1991 when Sherry made her directorial debut at Pentacle Theatre in Salem, Oregon. Through her role as a Director, Sherry realized another dream of being able to visualize and bring to life the written word.
In 2008, Sherry retired after her husband passed away the year before. Shortly thereafter, she was contacted by a former colleague from her radio days, who had since gone on to make a career in the film and television industry. Her colleague was making a documentary and wanted to see if she could recruit Sherry to assist. Eagerly, Sherry said yes. The following year Sherry joined Aegis Film and Television Group as an associate producer and subsequently was named president for their affiliated film company, Aegis Faith Films. Before retiring from AFTG, Sherry served as an associate producer for the Aegis Film and Television Group's production of Crossmaglen (in pre-production). As such Sherry spent 10 weeks in Ireland and England working with other producers, scouting site locations, photographing multiple areas, developing logistics strategies for housing for actors and crew.
In 2011 Sherry became an associate producer on a documentary titled Hot Water, with Rogers Entertainment Group. In this role, Sherry expanded her skills as a researcher, still photographer and participated in the interviewing process for the film.
January 2013, Sherry launched her own production company. Her expertise in evaluating site locations, reviewing scripts, researching a variety of topics, and photographic composition has established valuable to many companies and individuals associated with all areas of the entertainment and media fields. She soon optioned an insightful script called "To the Very Gates. Based on the true story of a Marie Reille, mistakenly marked as a Jew during the holocaust era.
August 2019, Sherry directed and produced a video/documentary called, "Jesus Over Jerusalem." Have you ever seen Jesus on your cell phone? This true story happened to a pastor as he guided a group of people to Israel and as he stood on the south steps of Jerusalem.
Sherry's recognized track record as a responsible agent and an accomplished dreamer have once again led her to a place where paths cross. This time it is not on the red carpet at the Oscars, it is at the desk of her company Pacific Rain Productions.- IMDb Mini Biography By: S Collins
