With coronavirus now confirmed to have spread to every continent bar Antarctica, tensions are understandably beginning to rise. The disease, similar to that of 2003’s Sars outbreak, is a respiratory illness believed to be primarily transmitted between people via close contact with infected persons’ coughing or sneezing, making large public gatherings in heavily affected areas a potential hotbed for its spread.
That being the case, various government authorities and entertainment companies have already put restrictions in place to prevent such large-scale events, with the games industry following suit. Following confirmation from various developers last week that they would be pulling out of planned appearances at Pax East, organizers of the Game Developers Conference (Gdc) have indefinitely postponed this year’s event after both Sony and Microsoft confirmed their withdrawal.
And with currently no signs of the disease’s spread coming to a halt, attentions are now turning toward E3 2020. Historically speaking,...

Insomniac Games is working on a new, untitled Vr game it plans to fully reveal on June 7, according to a developer spotlight video posted by Oculus Thursday.
The studio isn’t sharing many details right now. At the end of the video, there’s an image of a partially illuminated moon on a red background with the tagline, “Reclaim your world,” which suggests a space setting. It will let players go wherever they want, Insomniac said, hinting that it’s some kind of open-world adventure game.
“We’re gonna see a potential for movement and exploration that breaks out of the 2D plane,” Insomniac Games lead designer Mike Daly said.
Insomniac is best known for its classic platformers “Ratchet & Clank” and “Spyro the Dragon,” along with the 2014 open-world shooter “Sunset Overdrive.” It’s currently working on a new “Spider-Man” game that will launch on PlayStation 4 on Sept. 7. The studio...

Cliff Blezinski and Phil Fish. Both names have a distinct ring to them in the world of videogames, some might say for many of the same reasons. If you hadn’t heard, Mr. Fish recently had what I wouldn’t hesitate to describe as, well, a complete freakout on Twitter, which quickly led to a brash rage-quit on development of the newly announced Fez II. Much like Patrick Klepek over at Giant Bomb, I don’t believe for a second that Fish is actually gone for good, and apparently neither does Cliffy B. In a lengthy and surprisingly compassionate blog post, the Cliffster did his best to pull our man Fish up by his bootstraps and get him back to fresh water. You know, like a fish.
To be fair, Bleszinski has pretty much been where Phil is now, and his advice comes off as both sincere and insightful. You...

Seems that after two and a half years, my time as the editor of MTV Multiplayer has come to a close. It has been a privilege to attempt to give you some insight into the world of video games and technology. Whether you came to the blog every day, every week, or just whenever it popped up on Twitter, I hope you enjoyed your time here. I certainly have.
There have been several regular contributors throughout my time here at Multiplayer, and they have my utmost admiration. These are gentleman who deserve considerably more than a mention in a farewell blog post but, for now, this will have to do: Jason Cipriano, Matt Clark, Brian Warmoth, Brad Nicholson, Nick Akerman, and Adam Rosenberg.
I'd also like to thank Stephen Totilo, Tracey John and Patrick Klepek for building such an incredible audience. It was a true honor and a monumental task to fill those shoes.

Gearbox Software is apparently already at work developing the next "Brothers in Arms" game. When asked about the current status of the franchise by XG247, the Gearbox CEO responded to the site in the affirmative, but there's no indication yet as to what the next "Brothers in Arms" game is actually about. It strangely coincides with some news from the franchise's publisher, however.
"Very good question, we absolutely love the Brothers in Arms series and the next game in the series is currently in development … Expect to see and hear about it all very soon!" Pitchford told the site.
Well, it certainly doesn't answer any burning questions about the story, particulars of the setting, or – just about anything else except letting us know of the game's existence. Still, if you're a fan of the series, at least something is coming down the pipeline.
It's worth noting that Ubisoft's earnings letter,...
