Josh Rogin, a longtime former aide to senior House Democrats, will join the Motion Picture Association as senior vice president of federal government affairs.
Rogin’s first day will be Jan. 4, and he will be based in Washington. He will report to Patrick Kilcur, executive vice president, U.S. government affairs.
Rogin will take a leading role in the trade association’s lobbying and advocacy work, on issues like intellectual property, trade, tax and appropriations, as well as streaming.
In a statement, Kilcur said that Rogin’s “experience and expertise will contribute enormously to the advancement of an ambitious policy agenda on behalf of our member companies. He will be a key part of an exceptional team that supports the film, TV and streaming industry as the federal government considers new ways to address the evolving digital marketplace.”

The theater building at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington D.C. was to be officially named in a ceremony tonight after one of the school’s most famous graduates: Dave Chappelle.
The naming was in consideration of Chappelle’s support of the school, especially after he and his friends were the group that raised the most money for the building.
Chappelle has been the center of controversy after comments in his Netflix special last year were perceived as transphobic. In a visit to Duke Ellington School of the Arts in November, he was even confronted by students over it.

Impersonators of the two world leaders were spotted at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Seoul, South Korea on Friday, where they made an impassioned plea for peace between the U.S. and North Korea.
The Kim impersonator told Reuters that the two men decided to attend the Opening Ceremonies together “to show the world, this is what peace could look like when two leaders get along.”
