They soon meet Lazarus, an old farmhand who looked after William’s father, who takes an immediate, almost paternal liking to Mary. It becomes evident that the local tribal leader has a considerable problem with Lazarus, as do many in the community. On his end, Lazarus has no shortage of his own problems — his wife having died in childbirth, his daughter later perishing in a fire, he is tormented in this terrible place of wounding memories and unrestful souls. It’s a chicken and egg conundrum. Does a demon named Utuli roam the earth in search of souls to consume, feeding on the weakness of those who’ve endured lost to serve as its host? Or does it create turmoil and tragedy precisely to enlist those willing to give themselves over to its quest for satiation—causing the pain it feeds on rather than opportunistically finding the pain we create for ourselves? No matter which choice proves to be correct, we are left to suffer. We must watch our loved ones perish and we must sacrifice our own souls in a desperate fight to reclaim theirs. Either way Utuli wins because it holds all the cards. Refusal only means it will find or kill again until receiving another’s acquiesce.
We can’t therefore blame Lazarus (Tshamano Sebe) for getting himself into his current predicament of becoming a wanderer...

Superman actor Henry Cavill stars in The Witcher, Netflix's ambitious television series adaptation of the famed fantasy franchise.
Netflix’s The Witcher is conjuring a live-action manifestation of the popular fantasy novel series of Andrzej Sapkowski, which, of course, spawned the popular video game series.
Notably, it also marks a monumental turn for its star, Henry Cavill, who has permanently put away his Superman suit, and shaved that pesky Mission: Impossible – Fallout mustache, for a television series that matches if not exceeds the grandiosity of his big screen run as the Man of Steel.
While The Witcher games has taken some liberties with the novel source material, this television series will feature quite a few familiar faces and storylines. As Sapkowski expressed in a statement:
"I'm thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories. Staying true to the source material and...

The 1950s was an era of strict gender social codes and danger. Nuclear war loomed at the push of a button, as the USA and Russia played a game of dominoes in third world countries. Now, Sweetheart will capitalize on this setting and hypothesize on what could have happened in a nuclear, or other-worldly attack.
The trailer is brilliant, even in black and white. Have a look at a preview for the short film below, which is suitable for all ages.
The synopsis for Sweetheart:
"The 1950s, and the height of Cold War tension: When her husband and stepsons don’t return from a routine trip, a young housewife finds herself alone in their remote farmhouse. As it becomes clear that they are not coming back, she must force herself out of an aimless cycle, setting off to find them.

Bad title, I know... Anyway, Michael Matthews' Sweetheart is a visually arresting 30 minute South African short film made on a minuscule budget. It is heavy on the atmosphere and tells the story of a world in which a mysterious fate befalls the world. The FX are stunning, the photography rich and the acting very strong. Here's hoping we can see the whole thing soon.
Synopsis:
The late 1950s, and the height of Cold War tension: When her husband and step sons don't return from a routine trip into town, a young housewife finds herself alone in their remote farmhouse. As time passes it becomes clear that they aren't coming back, and with hints of a strange events just over the horizon she must force herself out of an aimless cycle, setting off to find them.
