Though there has been talk of a follow-up to cop comedy The Heat, especially from director Paul Feig, forward motion has apparently been slowed by Sandra Bullock’s reluctance to star in a sequel. Feig, however, seems undeterred in his quest to find some way to continue the film's world, and has announced a spin-off that would follow Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chafin’s characters Beth and Gina.Introduced as part of the extended family belonging to Melissa McCarthy’s Shannon Mullins, Beth and Gina proceeded to steal scenes and generally behave badly. The actresses have an existing professional relationship with Feig, who directed the pair’s pilot for comedy characters Ronna & Beverly, and clearly thinks they’re worth sticking with. “Jamie and Jessica are two of the funniest people on this planet,” Feig said in a statement that ran on Deadline. “They took small roles in The Heat and...

20th Century Fox, Chernin Entertainment and director Paul Feig are developing a spinoff to this past summer's comedy hit "The Heat" which grossed $230 million worldwide.
The new film will focus on Beth and Gina, the characters played by Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin. The pair are part of Melissa McCarthy's cop character’s extended family.
Tricia McAlpin is writing the script, while Feig and Jessie Henderson are producing. The storyline is currently being worked out, and won't preclude or affect the possibility of a "The Heat 2" in any way.

Exclusive: The Heat team of Fox, Chernin Entertainment and Paul Feig are developing a spinoff of last summer’s hit, creating a comic vehicle that will focus on the characters played by Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin. That Feig-directed and Katie Dippold-scripted film, which starred Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, grossed $230 million worldwide. Denbo and Chaffin played Beth and Gina, who were part of McCarthy’s cop character’s extended family. That’s the clan that sat around a kitchen table and grilled Bullock’s character on subjects including whether she was a man and if so how was she able to get such a close shave, or whether she was a narc (they pronounced it nahhc, in that truly charming/excruciating Beantown parlance). Tricia McAlpin is writing the script. Feigco’s Feig and Jessie Henderson are producing with Chernin Entertainment. They are all working out the storyline, and...

One of the summer's biggest comedy hits was the Paul Feig-directed The Heat , starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, which brought in $159 million domestically and another $70 million overseas. Of course when you do that kind of business, a sequel is almost inevitable, but now comes word from Deadline that Feig, 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment are busy developing a spinoff movie for two of the side characters in the movie, played by Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin. They played Beth and Gina, two of the members of McCarthy's character's extended family who we meet during one of the movie's funnier scenes where they grill Bullock's character. Tricia McAlpin is already writing the script that Feig will at least produce, reuniting him with the stars of the Showtime...
