Kristin Chenoweth feels nostalgic on the 12th anniversary of the premiere of Gcb.
The singer and actress took to social media to share that she missed the ABC comedy and posted a series of photos from the short-lived series.
“Gcb premiered 12 years ago today and it was just The. Most. Fun,” Chenoweth shared on Instagram. “We could have filmed this one forever. I miss Carlene and I miss this show. Who’s with me??”

The CW is bringing a high school-set adaptation entitled Good Christian Bitches to their network, based on the semi-autobiographical book by Kim Gatlin.
The series will be about the drama surrounding a Christian high school. The story was previously a short-lived series at ABC under the title Gcb and took place amongst an affluent group of Dallas socialites. This new take on the story is being described as “Clueless set in a Christian high school in tone.” Here’s the full description of the series, via Deadline:
At a prestigious private Christian high school in Dallas, a war stoking the student body’s social divides erupts when the new girl on campus, the atheist daughter of a minister, inadvertently tangles with three good Christian girls who blame her for ruining their lives.
This sounds like it could be similar to the movie Saved!, which is a favorite of mine, so I will check it out.

Now, Deadline is reporting that a new take would move the action to high school, focusing on a private Christian academy in Dallas.

The CW is working on a new take on “Good Christian Bitches,” seven years after ABC’s short-lived adaption titled “Gcb.” A new drama series based on Kim Gatlin’s 2008 book is in the works at the network — and it’s set in a high school, an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
Jordon Nardino — creator of The CW’s “Glamorous” pilot, which was not ordered to series — will write and executive produce the show, which is a retooling of the “Good Christian Bitches” reboot that was in development at The CW last season, that one from writer Leila Cohan-Miccio. Darren Star and Aaron Kaplan, who produced the ABC series, are also back on board to executive produce.

‘The 4400’ & ‘The L.A. Complex’ Reboots And ‘Good Christian Bitches’ Rolled To Next Season At the CW
Exclusive: The CW has officially wrapped its 2019 pilot pickups with six orders, and three high-profile projects, The 4400, The L.A. Complex and Good Christian Bitches, were not among those getting a green light but neither is dead. All three have been rolled to next season, which is something the CW President Mark Pedowitz does with IP he believes in.
In 2017, there also were two big-title projects that did not make the cut to pilot, Charmed and The Lost Boys. Both were rolled and subsequently made it to pilot — Charmed did it last season, when it was picked up to series and was recently renewed for a second season. It took another year, but The Lost Boys too nabbed a pilot order last month.
The reasons for The 4400, The L.A. Complex and Good Christian Bitches being rolled vary from project to project.

ABC's "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" made its debut Wednesday (April 11) night, and as the Associate Press points out, no one could imagine seeing the N-word in a title but apparently the B-word is A-ok.
Further evidence: ABC's other B-word show, "Gcb," is based on Kim Gatlin's book "Good Christian B------," though, according to ABC, the B stands for "belles."
But "Don't Trust the B----" isn't about the late '90s reclamation by women of the derogatory term, because Krysten Ritter's Chloe actually is, well, a b----.
"It's very clear that she's actually a sociopath," Andi Zeisler, co-founder and editorial director of B---- Magazine, tells the AP. "It's not like here's a strong, confident woman and she's head b---- in charge. She's actually a sociopath and she treats people horribly."

Los Angeles — B doesn't just stand for broadcasting at ABC.
The network uses the letter as an abbreviation for "bitch" in the title of its new Wednesday night sitcom "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23." ABC's prime-time soap "Gcb" is based on the book "Good Christian Bitches," although it says the B actually stands for "belles."
Both shows, which are about women and aimed at female audiences, may have started out with the complete B-word in their titles, but the network abbreviated it before introducing the shows to advertisers.
Paul Lee, president of the ABC Entertainment Group, said in January that "on broadcast television, as it turns out, that isn't a word you want to use in the title."
Broadcast standards allow the word on TV, and its use has tripled in the last decade, but these are the first American shows to tease with B's in their titles.
Is it just coincidence?...

Kristin Chenoweth has taken a bit of heat for her latest role as a gossipy, calculating Christian community leader on ABC's, "Gcb," but the beautiful star says the show mocks hypocrisy, not true Christianity.
"You actually did grow up singing in the church, right?" Kit Hoover asked Kristin on Friday's Access Hollywood Live.

(Rns) Many TV network executives, advertisers and producers would sell their souls to get the kind of audience God has. But giving religion a starring role in prime time? Not so much.
Religion, God and spirituality have made cameos across the dial from "The Sopranos" to "The Simpsons" -- though usually as a prop or walk-on role. But shows where religion is a central part of the premise are rare, and the ratings are generally far from heavenly.
Short of touchy-feely shows like "Touched By an Angel" or "Highway to Heaven," why is religion so radioactive in Hollywood?
This month, cable network TLC canceled "All-American Muslim" after only about 700,000 viewers watched the season finale of the reality show featuring Muslims in Dearborn, Mich.

As part of a larger multi-show media buy on ABC-tv, there were some spots included in the rotation for the new "Gcb" series. It's customary to advertise on premiere episodes due to their large viewership like Philadelphia Cream Cheese did this week.

ABC's one-hour Sunday night comedy "Gcb" brings Annie Potts back to the smallscreen. Set among the rich in a Dallas neighborhood, the series hopefully slots in for departing "Desperate Housewives," which ends its run in May. "Gcb" is about Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb), who moves back home from California to live with her wealthy mom, Gigi (Annie Potts) following the scandalous death of her cheating, thieving husband. Amanda returns to Texas and finds her past as a high school mean girl catches up with her. The series also features the character of Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth), a former high school nemesis. "Gcb" is based on the novel "Good Christian Bitches" by Kim Gatlin. Once Upon...

Back in high school, Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb) was a mean girl on Gcb. She ran away from Dallas, Texas with her new husband Bill and settled in California. But it turns out that Bill was actually running a Ponzi scheme and having an affair with one of Amanda's friends. When Bill dies in an accident and Amanda is left penniless, she has no choice but to return home to her mother, Gigi (Annie Potts).
Gigi is happy to welcome Amanda and her two teenage children back home. A wealthy woman, Gigi would have Amanda live with her and pick up the tab, but Amanda is determined to get a job and take care of her children on her own. While her mother might be happy about her return, other people are not.

Chicago – ABC attempts to pass the sequined, bedazzled baton from one glittery soap comedy to another as “Gcb” (based on the book “Good Christian Bitches” by Kim Gatlin) premieres tonight as a clear successor to the soon-to-end “Desperate Housewives.” Even more over-the-top than the girls of “Dh” were to start (even Marc Cherry would have said an opening scene involving road head leading to a fatal car crash was a bit much), “Gcb” feels like later seasons of the ABC hit when it went from critical darling to guilty pleasure. You’re going to feel Real guilty watching this one.
TV Rating: 2.5/5.0
The lovely Leslie Bibb stars as Amanda Vaughn, the former Dallas mean girl returned to town after her criminal husband tried to leave her with a car full of cash but couldn’t stay on the road during orgasm. Amanda comes home slightly disgraced but also nothing like...

"Good Christian Bitches'" title has been changed -- whittled down to three little letters. But everyone knows what "Gcb," the delightfully campy guilty-pleasure drama that premieres on ABC Sunday, stands for and that it's based on the novel of the same name by real housewife of Dallas, Kim Gatlin. Some protesters -- specifically the American Family Association -- were so offended by the original title and what they called anti-Christian sentiments, that they petitioned ABC to try to persuade the network abandon plans to turn the book into a series. "The funniest...

If there was ever anything to make you wish to God (with a capital G) that Molly Ivins were alive and sitting right next to you with a glass of Maker's, providing a running commentary, it is ABC's new series "Gcb." I will not be as good at reviewing this fictional Texas scenarios as Ivins was at critiquing things that actually happened in Texas. Have you ever read her take on the Texas legislature? It was a beautiful thing to behold, but I am not there yet. Additional handicaps: 1) I am from the South and grew up visiting relatives in Texas, but I am not a Lone Star native. 2) My taste in television tends toward "The Bachelor" and "Criminal Minds." Consider your source.

It's hard to say what's most irritating about "Gcb" (10 p.m. Est Sunday, ABC) aside from that dumb title.
It could be the fact that the show is chock-full of predictable stereotypes, such as: Texans like big hair, short skirts and big jewels; no matter what age they are, women are catty beyotches to each other; if a person is Southern and religious, well, of course they must be a cartoonish hypocrite, etc. It could be the fact that "Gcb" seems to have as much contempt for its characters as most of the characters have for each other. It could be the vaguely creepy story lines in which characters calmly discuss the breast augmentations of their teen daughters or in which the heroine of the story fights to keep the the costumes skimpy at the wings-and-beer joint where she works (of course it's a bar called Boobylicious).

It's impossible for Kristin Chenoweth to hide her enthusiasm over Gcb, the new ABC comedy that premieres on Sunday on which she plays Carlene Cockburn, a conservative, religious Dallas resident who is none too pleased that Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb) has returned home following a failed marriage.
"Oh my gosh, I love her so much," the actress said to me on the phone yesterday. "I knew I had to play her because I couldn't stand the idea of anyone else taking on this delicious villain."
Of course, Chenoweth is quick to point out that Carlene is not just a villain. She was bullied in high school by Amanda and is forced to relive those memories when her nemesis moves back home.
"It derails her," the actress said of Amanda's reappearance. "A lot of people can understand how that could feel... I don't ever want to play a one-note character and...

Darren Star, one of the executive producers of ABC's midseason series "G.C.B.," is no longer on the show's set and has been told not to communicate with the show's other EPs.
Star ("Sex and the City," "Melrose Place") is still working on the show, but any notes he has on scripts or other aspects of the show are being funneled through ABC Studios, Deadline reports, rather than going directly to creator Robert Harling and showrunners Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts.
Why? According to Deadline, Star and Harling -- a veteran screenwriter who's doing his first series -- had a falling out, in part over the way ABC was positioning "G.C.B." as a show from Star. (Harling wrote the play "Steel Magnolias" and the movie adaptation, as well as the screenplays for "The First Wives Club" and "The Evening Star," which he also directed.)

ABC pilot Good Christian Bitches was picked up last week but renamed Good Christian Belles. Now the network has decided to change the name of its newest primetime soap again--this time to G.C.B.
Here's how ABC described the show last week at the upfronts:
The soap returns to Dallas in this wicked new drama that shows that you can go home again... but only if you’re ready to face the sins of your past.
Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb), once the ultimate high school "mean girl," is forced to return home in disgrace after her marriage ends in scandal. Amanda is nothing like the girl she was 20 years ago, but as her old classmates reacquaint themselves with the new Amanda, will her home town welcome her with open arms or seek revenge? No one in this town is a saint, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a heart.

ABC has a slew of new shows coming, many of which need a lot of luck if they're going to last more than a handful of episodes. The schedule has been released, so let's take a lot at what's coming.
Oddly enough, as part of the new announcement, ABC has solidified the return of several more shows, including Happy Endings, despite the fact that two other networks have shows on their slate with cast members from the show. That should be interesting. Of course, it works for me, because I'm a fan.
In other news, Desperate Housewives will not die. Are you kidding me with this show still being on?

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

The ABC pilot "Good Christian Bitches" has landed its main villain and outrage from the Parents Television Council.
According to Deadline, Kristin Chenoweth has signed on star in the Darren Star produced pilot, which is based on the novel of the same name by Kim Gatlin. The Parents' Television Council has criticised ABC for developing a pilot called Good Christian Bitches. The drama, which stars Leslie Bibb, focuses on a recently divorced single mother who returns to the neighbourhood where she grew up. The project is based on Kim Gatlin's book of the same name. In a press release on its website, the PTC asked its members to sign a petition protesting against the title of the pilot. The group's president Tim Winter said: "ABC's decision is not only an affront to women, it blatantly attacks the world's largest faith. The 'B-word' is toxic and is used to degrade, abuse, harass, bully and humiliate women. And the 'Christian' element only adds insult to injury. The Parents Television Council now is starting to criticize TV projects even before they have gotten on the air. The TV watch group, which recently waged a campaign against MTV's racy new series Skins, today issued a blistering statement against ABC's dramedy pilot Good Christian Bitches. “ABC’s decision is not only an affront to women, it blatantly attacks the world’s largest faith," PTC president Tim Winter said. "The ‘b-word’ is toxic and is used to degrade, abuse, harass, bully and humiliate women. And the ‘Christian’ element only adds insult to injury. Would ABC even consider another faith to denigrate? Would they even consider a program title or a plot line based on ‘Bitches’ who were Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Buddhist? I suspect not, and I certainly hope not. So why the double standard?" Yay! We're thrilled to see the underrated Popular actress Leslie Bibb, who we liked so much on Ryan Murphy's late-90s high school WB dramedy, re-emerge in a new ABC pilot.

The pilot will also feature Annie Potts as the mother of Bibb's character. Most recently seen on the small screen reprising her guest-starring turn...
