S. Brent Martin
- Producer
- Director
- Writer
Brent began his career in the film and television industry, working in development under the late Vancouver-based producer, William Vince (Capote, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Saved!). In this position Brent gained foundational experience in both the art and business of the film industry. Moving into a producer role himself in the years following, Brent went on to helm several award-winning films which screened at festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), SXSW, Palm Springs Shortfest, AFI Fest, and on Canada's national broadcaster, CBC.
Since shifting his focus to digital content in 2012, Brent has lead projects for some of the world's most influential brands - a list that includes Microsoft, Pepsi, Virgin Mobile, Goodlife Fitness, Movember, Tim Hortons, Air Miles, and Aol. In one of his most impactful campaigns, Brent produced the short documentary, "Canadian Tire Ice Truck", which followed the brand's journey to build the world's first drivable ice truck. The story received global attention, with coverage on 150+ international media outlets (including CNN, Fast Company, and the New York Times), and was honoured at the Cannes Lions, Cassies, and the Digi Awards. As a result, the campaign helped this beloved Canadian brand achieve one of it's most successful marketing campaigns to date.
In 2015, Brent served as executive producer at Notch Video (since acquired by MSLGROUP), where he helped oversee production, and spearheaded several large-scale social media campaigns for notable lifestyle, sporting, and technology brands.
Brent is a graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory, and in 2011 received a Student Emmy Award (Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) for his thesis film, Clear Blue, Directed by Lindsay MacKay. Clear Blue screened at 20+ film festivals around the world, and earned several awards for the team along the way. The film is now available on iTunes.
