I’ve only played a few video games over the last twenty years, primarily Halo online multiplayer and the recent Friday the 13th game that was hindered by lawsuits… and gaming sure is different these days than it was in my time, when a game was released in its complete form and then you just played the hell out of it. Now, if a game doesn’t get very frequent updates, players will abandon it very quickly. For example, the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham was just released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One back on August 18th, and even though it was updated a new map and a couple new characters at the end of November, I’ve already seen gamers complaining that it’s getting stale and will be pronounced dead if there isn’t another update soon.

The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham was released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One back on August 18th, and at the end of last month they added not just a new map (free to all players), but also a couple of new characters that players have to pay to access: a victim named Danny and a killer named Nancy. The motion-capture and vocal performances for Nancy were provided by BAFTA winner Cissy Jones, whose previous credits include the most recent Evil Dead video game. A newly released promo video shows exactly how Jones brought Nancy to life, and you can check it out at the bottom of this article.

SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, is attending New York Comic Con on Oct. 14 for the panel “AI in Entertainment: The Performer’s Perspective.”
The event comes in the wake of Crabtree-Ireland’s appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, soon after the actors strike began in mid-July, where he led a panel for voiceover actors, discussing their rights, as well as a pitstop at the Toronto International Film Festival where he had both a sitdown, and a teamed picket with Canada’s commercial actors who’ve been suffering a long contract lockout.
The news of Crabtree-Ireland’s Nycc appearance in ten days is, of course, coming as the SAG-AFTRA Chief Negotiator is today back at the bargaining table with the CEO Gang of Four –Universal’s Donna Langley, Disney’s Bob Iger, Warner Bros’ David Zaslav and Netflix’s Ted Sarandos– in pursuit of a new three-year...

The perils of artificial intelligence to the entertainment industry came to San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, with SAG-AFTRA national executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland joining a panel of voice actors organized by Nava, the National Association of Voice Actors, to discuss the specific hazards AI is already posing to the profession.
“We’ve got to reject the idea that this is just something that’s going to happen to us and we can’t say anything about it,” Crabtree-Ireland said at the outset of the panel, about whether AI could devastate the entertainment industry. “I think it definitely could, the question is whether we’re going to let that happen.”

Like the WGA before it, one of the main reasons SAG-AFTRA went on strike was a series of disagreements about artificial intelligence technology. But, according to some SAG members, the key to reaching an agreement on this issue is simple: “real consent.”
As a sign of how seriously SAG-AFTRA takes the matter, lead negotiator in studio talks Duncan Crabtree-Ireland joined a San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday to explain it alongside fellow SAG members and members of the National Association of Voice Actors (Nava) Zeke Alton, Tim Friedlander, Ashly Burch and Cissy Jones.
“There’s active consent versus passive consent,” Alton, whose work includes the “Call of Duty” and “Diablo” video game franchises, said. “We want active consent.”
“Passive consent is when a company will bury in their terms of agreement, or page 27 of a 30-page contract, something [important],” Jones explained. “We want to make sure that it’s something you actually read,...

SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland will be at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday as a panelist on the National Association of Voice Actors’ session “AI in Entertainment: The Performers’ Perspective.”
Crabtree-Ireland will join moderator Linsay Rousseau (Transformers: War for Cybertron) and panelists Ashly Burch (Mythic Quest), Cissy Jones (The Owl House), SAG/AFTRA negotiating committee member Zeke Alton (The Calisto Protocol) and Nava president and founder Tim Friedlander (Record of Ragnarok) to discuss the existing legal structures in regards to AI and the new standards that need to be implemented that will protect voiceover actors.
While the AMPTP heralded a “groundbreaking” proposal they made to SAG-AFTRA in regards to AI, the actors guild wasn’t happy, with Crabtree-Ireland telling press recently that both sides were “pretty far apart” and that a lot was still required to protect background actors from getting their likeness and images protected.

If there’s one thing DC loves, it’s reboots. The comics cycle through their continuity in one form or another every decade or so, the movies…well…that’s a whole thing, too. So of course now it’s time for the DC animated movies to get a fresh start. And this time, they’re doing it with the hero who should pretty much always be the center of these things: Superman.
Since 2014, there have been 20 DC Universe Animated Original Movies, most of which existed in a shared continuity that began with Justice League: War and culminated in this year’s Justice League Dark: Apokalips War. With that story arc now complete, Superman: Man of Tomorrow will set up a new continuity for future movies. Butch Lukic is the new Supervising Producer for these DC movies, with Chris Palmer directing Man of Tomorrow.

The first trailer for Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay has arrived, and it looks promising. That used to be something you wouldn't have to say about DC Animated Features, but they've been spotty as of late in my personal opinion so all I can say here is the trailer looks pretty damn good. The lineup of heroes is better than the live-action film, Tara Strong is voicing Harley, and the violence doesn't appear to be limited as Quinn just smacked the head off that frozen guy! Let's just hope Vandal Savage is more interesting this time around than he was in Legends of Tomorrow. Christian Slater also stars in the film as Deadshot!

Ok, so not everyone liked the Suicide Squad live-action movie (although on the scale of superhero movies it’s easily one of the better Dceu films), well now DC and Warner Bros. are making amends, sort of, with a brand new animated movie based on the misfit task force: Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay.
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay finds Amanda Waller’s top secret Task Force X,’ Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn and Copperhead, on a mission to retrieve a mystical object so powerful that they’re willing to risk their own lives to steal it. But the Suicide Squad isn’t the only group of villains seeking to possess the object. The race is on for the golden prize … and, to stay alive, second place isn’t an option.

While we’re all awaiting the awesomeness that’s sure to be Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, it certainly never hurts to look ahead at whatever other DC animated movies the fine folks over at Warner Bros. Animation are cooking up. After all, this line of films has a reputation for having far more hits than misses.
So, instead of twiddling our thumbs waiting for the silver screen’s iteration of Task Force X to suit up for their next mission, we should be looking forward to something that we can sink our teeth into far sooner. You see, the next one up is that of Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, an original story that obviously draws generous inspiration from New 52 and Rebirth era comic books.
Originally announced last summer at San Diego Comic-Con, word regarding this project has been mum as to not take the spotlight off the aforementioned Gotham by Gaslight,...

Uncharted 4 took home Best Game at the BAFTA Games Awards last night.
Naughty Dog’s fourth and final instalment in the action-adventure series took home Best Game, making it the fifth win for the series having previously won Best Game in 2010 for Uncharted 2.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of hundreds of people at Naughty Dog,” said Arne Meyer, Director of Communications at Naughty Dog, who took to the stage last night at Tobacco Dock, London, alongside voice actors and fellow nominees Troy Baker and Nolan North, and also Scott Hanau of Sony.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Firewatch, 2016's biggest entrant into videogaming's growing 'walking simulator' genre, is now set to be adapted into a major motion picture.
This project is part of a deal between film production company Good Universe and Firewatch's developer Campo Santo, who are joining forces in order to create a subsidiary intended to connect filmmakers and game developers. Campo Santo, the indie developer behind first-person hit Firewatch, has struck a deal with Good Universe to foster content across both feature films and video games.
The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, confirming that it is Firewatch that will be the first project to be repackaged for the big screen. Rooted in the Wyoming wilderness of ’89, the mystery crime thriller places players in the boots of Henry, a grieving fire lookout who makes tracks for the Shoshone National Forest fire soon after his ailing wife, Julia, develops early signs of dementia.
Featuring a poignant, touching story at its core, it’s really the dynamic between Henry and Delilah that anchors Firewatch from the outset, as the twosome set about uncovering a strange disturbance deep in the forest. Influenced by adventure thrillers in the vein of Zodiac, The Shining, The Conversation, Campo’s debut title certainly touts all of the cinematic...

Campo Santo’s breakout success Firewatch is making the jump to Xbox One later this month, the developer has announced. First released earlier this year on PlayStation 4 and PC, the first-person mystery title follows protagonist Henry, a married man who has taken a job as a fire lookout in 1980’s Wyoming after his other half has been diagnosed with early-onset dementia.
Things go well (as well as they can, at least) at first, but then strange happenings begin to occur – government research facilities, shady figures and dead bodies all start to mount up as time goes on. Of course, as those of you who have already had the joy of experiencing Firewatch will know, the rabbit hole goes deeper than that.
This port doesn’t just appeal to newcomers though – Campo Santo has included a few additional extras for the Xbox One version, including a making-of documentary that features commentary...

Firewatch may be described as a walking simulator. Some may even say that as something of an insult. But the fact is, this game is more of a hiking (or orienteering) simulator that tells a story… A story that is well worth experiencing.
The best way to play Firewatch, as with many games of this type, is to go in cold. This is why I won’t get into the story in detail at all. It is safe to say though that you, as Henry have taken the job as a fire lookout to get away from your life. Your only real contact with the outside world is Delilah, a woman who watches from the distance and works as your supervisor.
The game does well in setting up the character of Henry by letting you build him for yourself. You are given certain important points about his life, though you...

Since it was revealed back in 2014, everyone has been trying to figure out just what Firewatch is. The purposefully cryptic trailers seemed to indicate that a mystery was afoot in the woods of the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming. Combine that with the fact that the title comes from a brand new developer in Campo Santo, and you’ll understand why ideas ran wild about just what the game was actually about. It’s rare that even a day before launch, speculation can still be running rampant about a highly-anticipated title.
