Dan Lembo, who was a contestant on the 21st season of Survivor in 2010, has died. He was 75. Survivor fans became aware of Lembo’s death following the recent passing of Survivor: The Amazon contestant Roger Sexton, who died on October 26. An online obituary reveals Lembo passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at his Manhattan home. A cause of death was not given. Lembo was 63 when he appeared on Survivor: Nicaragua, a season that saw two tribes divided based on their ages. Lembo was part of the Espada tribe, which included contestants aged 40 and over. A memorable moment featuring Lembo happened early in the season when his tribemate Holly Hoffman dunked his expensive alligator shoes into the ocean after a disagreement. Despite that rough start, Lembo was well-liked by his fellow contestants and made it to the final five, eventually being voted out on Day 37. Fans remember him best for an emotional...

A Tennessee man has been arrested for the 2011 kidnapping and murder of 20-year-old nursing student Holly Bobo, a cousin of country music star Whitney Duncan.
Man Charged With Holly Bobo's Murder
Zachary Adams, 29, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping, reported Fox News. It’s believed that Adams took Bobo from her home in Decatur County in April of 2011 against her will and subsequently murdered her.
When the murder charge was read out for Adams, Bobo’s family had to face the reality that law enforcement was operating under the belief that Bobo is no longer alive. As recently as December 2013, the family had posted wanted flyers that offered a $250,000 reward for any information in regard to Bobo's kidnapping, according to the New York Daily News.
Bobo was last seen in April 2011, when her brother watched as she walked through the woods behind their home with an unknown man wearing camouflaged pants.

NBC’s The Voice has a lot of fantastic qualities — stellar vocalists, positive energy, the limitation of Christina Milian’s ineptitude to two or three mercifully brief interview segments per episode — but subtlety ain’t one of ‘em.
Indeed, a cursory examination of the performance order from last week’s Top 10 telecast and this week’s Top 8 show reveals that certain contestants have been unfairly marooned in top-of-the-episode “death slots” that veteran reality TV viewers know are synonymous with results-night exits. To be more specific, this week’s 1-2-3-4 solo performance slots were mired in the 2-1-3-5 slots last week.

The Dundies, how can I explain it?
If you ask The Office accountant extraordinaire Oscar Martinez, the Michael Scott-masterminded accolades are “like a kid’s birthday party: You go and there’s really nothing for you to do there, but the kid’s having a really good time. So… you’re kind of there.” For Pam Beesley, meanwhile, they’re “like a car wreck that you want to look away [from], but you have to stare at it because your boss is making you.”

Just when we were saddened to hear that "Survivor" couple Jenna Morasca and Ethan Zohn had split up, here is some good news from the world of our favorite reality show -- Whitney Duncan and Keith Tollefson of "Survivor: South Pacific" are engaged.
The two met on the 23rd season of the popular CBS reality competition show, beginning the show both on the Savaii tribe. They made it to the merge, but were dispatched shortly thereafter, with Keith finishing 11th and Whitney finishing 9th.
But it all worked out well in the end for them, getting engaged on Valentine's Day 2013. They announced on Twitter:
Keith writes, "Thanks to everyone for the best wishes on mine and @whitneyduncan 's engagement. I know real original proposing on Valentines day ha."
And Whitney adds, "I'm going to marry this man," along with picture above.

The game of "Survivor" is afoot once again, with sixteen new competitors — and two familiar ones — setting sail to the "South Pacific" in last night’s premiere of what's sure to be a cutthroat and hungry journey for the million dollar prize. Already we've met an eclectic cast that includes a medical marijuana dispenser, a spoken word artist, the nephew of one of the game's most notorious players, two returning alumni and a self-described "student of the game" who very nearly flunked out during the very first exam.
So what's going down on the new season of "Survivor"? How did Coach and Ozzy do? Who broke down and cried first? Which contestant gave us the most awkward description of human flesh possible? We've got all that and more in our "Survivor" recap after the jump!

Hey, "Bachelor Pad" fans. Sorry about how late this is, I was driving home from getting married when it aired and it's been a busy week! But never fear, here we are for the penultimate episode.
Post-Elimination
Everybody goes inside as Chris Harrison tells them to pair up because starting tomorrow they compete, win and get voted off as a couple. He also advises to get to know their partner. Blake is immediately smirking at Holly, but she promised Michael - which she should also be happy about because for a "know your partner" competition, Holly would fare better with Michael than Blake.
And haha, Blake as the cheese stands alone has to pair up with Erica and she throatily says, "I feel like we should get to know each other." Heh. Erica is like if Melissa ate Kathleen Turner.
The couples who aren't actual couples in life are busy...

The people of Eureka went crazy for the music in "Reprise."
Music can have a profound effect on people... unless, of course, you live in Eureka. Then, it can drive you absolutely insane. What can I say about this episode except: Power to the Nerd, my friends!
I absolutely Loved it! Eureka continually fits all kinds of awesome nerdom and fabulous geekery into each hour, while still giving its audience a wonderful story. From beginning to end, it delivers a perfect hodge-podge blend of humanity, humor and downright spectacular moments.
Some stand-out moments revolved around Fargo and his killer kung-fu dance moves when getting psyched for the Ftl visit. Also couldn't get enough of him in the holding, cell replaying “Eye Of The Tiger” by Survivor. He's just so adorkable when trying to be badass.

This week, instead of limiting the Power Rankings to ten shows, I thought I'd include everything I watch, save for "The Daily Show," Bill Maher, and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."
In rerun: "Raising Hope," "Parenthood."
23. Harry's Law: I suffered through ten episodes, which is nine-and-a-half more than this show deserved. The David Kelley magic is gone. It was still there at the end of "Boston Legal" but it's left, which doesn't bode well for "Wonder Woman" next season. I've seen all these "Harry's Law" stories played out a half a dozen times with other characters in other Kelley TV shows, including this week's episode involving a transgendered man. The speechifying is killing me. I'm sorry, Nate Corddry. I really tried. But I'm done now.

It’s been quite a few years and even though I’ve had a lot of time invested in it I’m just not sure that I want to continue my relationship with The Office.
As many of you have heard by now Steve Carell is leaving the hit show to pursue whatever it is that he is going to pursue. In many ways I think knowing this information ahead of time has really gotten in my way of trying to passively watch a show that is meant to be passively watched. I spend my time watching plot details unfold and start over-analyzing what is going on. I start to look for the under-current being set-up for the upcoming departure and I begin paying too much attention. The Office wasn’t meant to be analyzed. It’s mental chewing gum, not Shakespeare.
First and foremost The Office is a situation comedy.

He made it to the final five, but for many Survivor: Nicaragua fans, it was easy to forget Dan Lembo was still in the game. After sustaining a knee injury early in the season, the 63-year-old real estate executive avoided as many challenges as he could and avoided the drama that defined fellow players such as Marty Piombo and NaOnka Mixon. Even when Holly Hoffman drowned his $1,200 shoes, Dan hardly blinked. Looking back, Dan says his carefree exterior was key to his strategy. He talked with TVGuide.com about how he kept his cool with Holly, why he bragged about his fortune to his teammates and his thoughts on next season's twist...

For many on Survivor: Nicaragua, it was easy to overlook Fabio Birza. He was fit, but not nearly as strong as Ben Henry and Chase Rice, and he spent 39 days on the beach perfecting the role of clueless surfer dude. After he won his third immunity challenge and guaranteed himself a spot in the final three, Sash Lenahan and Chase were able to make stronger cases for themselves and Holly was the last person voted out. Dan Lembo had some pretty harsh words for his fellow contestants Sunday night (Dec. 19) on the "Survivor: Nicaragua" finale. He tells Zap2it how he feels about Chase and Sash and that he is wearing Holly's cowboy boots with nothing else on. We think he's kidding.
You had some pretty harsh words for Sash and Chase during the last few days of the show -- Chase was surprised by them, but Sash was not. Was that more heat-of-the-moment or do you still feel that way about them?
"Nah, I'm not angry with them any longer. The game's over. Sash would never be a friend of mine, but Chase, as I said, dumb is forever. The guy's pretty dumb, but he's a nice a guy."
If Fabio had not made the finals, who would have gotten your vote?

Smiling, sneaky Sash Lenahan had burned too many bridges to garner any votes Sunday night (Dec. 19) on the "Survivor: Nicaragua" finale. He tells Zap2it that he thought he played the best strategic game and how he feels about Dan's harsh words for him and Chase.
Why eliminate Holly before the final three?
"Ya know, at that point you can't win the game unless you're in the final tribal, so I thought if I put on a good performance I had a shot at beating any of the remaining players. At that point I just wanted to get myself to the end and that was to go with whatever Fabio wanted, so it was an easy choice for me."
Did you think you had a shot to win going into the final vote?
"Yes, I did. I think I played the most textbook game of 'Survivor.' I don't regret anything.

The 24-year-old North Carolina native Chase Rice was one vote away from winning the million dollar prize Sunday night (Dec. 19) on the "Survivor: Nicaragua" finale. He tells Zap2it how he felt about Dan's harsh words, which contestants he wants to stay in touch with and what he thinks of the "Redemption Island" twist.
When it was the final four, why did you take Sash over Holly?
"Because Fabio was king of the jungle at that point and we were going to do whatever he said just to get ourselves to the finals. He wanted to take all guys and that was Ok with me."
Did you think Holly was a threat to get jury votes?
"Not necessarily. She might have been able to steal a couple, but I thought I could win if I brought it and did a good job at the final tribal. Obviously, Fabio was the biggest threat,...

The smartest thing Jud "Fabio" Birza ever did was play dumb. It made for great TV and a hilarious nickname. And more importantly, it allowed him to remain underestimated by everyone on Survivor: Nicaragua. However, when Fabio's clueless façade left him out of Chase Rice, Matthew "Sash" Lenahan and Holly Hoffman's alliance, he physically stepped up with back-to-back-to-back immunity challenge wins and secured his spot in final three. Sitting next to Chase and Sash, two players known for breaking multiple alliances, Fabio killed them with kindness. The 21-year-old student from Venice, Calif., talked with TVGuide.com about his secret to success, what he hopes to do with the money and whether he plans to hang on to his new nickname.

Jud "Fabio" Birza is the king of Survivor: Nicaragua. We felt it was a well deserved win which represented a change in Jud's character and game play throughout the season. What do our writers think? Did the right person win? Could it have played out differently? What do we make of Redemption Island?
We're looking forward to hearing from our readers as well.
Did the right person win?
Kyle Kalember: The person I was rooting for by the end won, but that wasn't the question that was asked. I truly believe that Fabio deserved to win the game. He was just as deserving as any of the final three and I was happy with the outcome.
Dan Forcella: That is such a tough question in the game of Survivor. That's what makes this game so good: in any given season, the jury can vote entirely differently. I have been...

He had to win three straight challenges just to get to the finals, but once he did, Judson “Fabio” Birza poured on the charm to become the million dollar winner of Survivor: Nicaragua. His savvy social game combined with strength in immunity competitions propelled him over Chase and Sash, making the 21-year-old the youngest Survivor winner ever. We spoke this morning with a still clearly elated Fabio, even if he was working on only 25 minutes of sleep.

This season's finale begins with reviews of the Final Five's journeys through the first thirty-six days. After the title sequence, on Day 37, Fabio confesses that it is in his interest to break up Chase, Holly and Sash. Dan and Fabio agree that Holly should go next. Fabio asks Holly if she''d rather go to the Final Three with him instead of Chase. Unsurprisingly, she doesn't answer. Fabio says that he needs to win Immunity to stay in the game.
Sash confides to the camera that he recognizes the threat of Fabio going on an Immunity run. So, he finds Fabio and tells him that he wants to go the Final Three with him. Sash confesses that he has to promise everything to everyone to make sure he is safe. Sash then goes to Chase and tells...

After a season that pitted old against young, Survivor: Nicaragua ended with a rather youthful final three. But the 21st champion of the franchise was the youngest of all time. And Jud Birza, 21, a student and model better known by his nom de show, "Fabio," revealed his youthful exuberance in talking about his plans after winning the $1 million and title of Sole Survivor on Sunday night. "Once you're famous, people want to talk to you," he told People. "I want to get in the mix, dude. I don't want be like, 'Oh, [expletive], I'm famous now.' I want to be like,...

Los Angeles — Jud "Fabio" Birza romanced the jury to win "Survivor: Nicaragua."
The goofy 21-year-old model-student from Los Angeles overcame wishy-washy 24-year-old singer-jackman Chase Rice from Fairview, N.C., and sneaky 30-year-old real estate broker Matthew "Sash" Lenahan from New York to take home the CBS reality competition's $1 million grand prize Sunday. He earned five votes from the nine-person jury of dismissed contestants.
"From how I felt down in Nicaragua, going through all the angles or whatever, I really thought I was going to win by a little more," Birza admitted during a phone interview following the finale. "It's all good, dude. I would rather it be super close. Chase felt good about it. As you could see, I was sweating. My armpits were going crazy. I was nervous."

It’s late so this will be short:
Fabio Wins
I’m delighted that Fabio won. He was the clear audience favorite. The crowd in the studio went wild when his name was announced. Kids seem to gravitate to Fabio. I think it’s his goofy honesty. He doesn’t filter much and though at times he is a bit scattered, there is an undeniable charm and it’s nice to have him on the list of Survivor winners.
Chase On Geee-tar
I was really impressed. I’d never heard Chase play before but I just had a feeling it was worth a shot.

At 21 years old, Fabio has become Survivor's youngest winner ever, winning $1 million, while the fan-favorite $100,000 went to Jane in "a blow out." Once Fabio, aka Jud Birza, won his third immunity challenge in a row, he was nearly guaranteed a win, though the actual vote was closer: five votes for him, four votes for Chase Rice, and zero for Sash, aka Matthew Lenahan. Arguably, Holly Hoffman could have won, which is why...

During the first tribal council of tonight’s season finale, Dan gave his reasons for why he felt Holly was a bigger threat than him.
Whether it made sense to you, me, the jury or anyone, Jeff Probst correctly pointed out that Dan’s perception of why Holly is a threat matters more than if she really was one.
This conversation very neatly summarized the way that Jud, Holly, Dan and, even to some extent, Chase, changed throughout the course of the season. If a vote took place even halfway through the game, none of these four would have been in the top three vote getters. Ironically, the one who would have been, Sash, was blanked in the finale.
Although Chase and Sash tried to argue otherwise at the final tribal council, the way Jud played the game most definitely is a viable way to play. Going with the flow,...

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of the Survivor Nicaragua Season Finale You know when you’re watching a really crappy movie, and you need closure? You need to see how it ends? Or maybe you’re reading an absolutely horrible book, but you still need to make it to that final page? Or maybe you’re a marathon runner who has no shot of winning, or even finishing in a decent time…but you tough it out anyways and make it to the end? That’s the way I feel about Survivor: Nicaragua (ok, maybe the marathon runner analogy was a stretch, but you get the point), it’s been a struggle, but after 4 months of snake footage and breaking tiles, at least it ends tonight.
I’m back in the Eastern Time Zone, not having to wait that extra 3 hours for my Survivor fix, so let’s get right...

Host Jeff Probst had a couple big announcements during the live "Survivor: Nicaragua" reunion on Sunday (Dec. 19).
The first was that quitters will now have some repercussions, like not being allowed on the jury. It will be up to the show to decide (Quitters are not the same as medical evacuations or extenuating circumstances, like, I would imagine, when Jenna Morasca quit because her mom with cancer had taken a turn for the worst.) Good. That was totally messed up that NaOnka and Kelly got to cast a vote after quitting.
The second announcement is a new twist in the game -- Redemption Island. When someone is voted out, they go to Redemption Island where they and the next person voted out will compete in a duel. One of them will re-enter the game -- but do they stay on Redemption Island and keep fighting, then get back in the game at some point?...

Jud 'Fabio' Birza has been crowned the winner of Survivor: Nicaragua. The 21-year-old from Venice, CA scooped the title of 'Sole Survivor' and the $$1 million prize in tonight's live season finale of the CBS competition. He beat out second-placed Chase Rice and third-placed Sash Lenahan. Holly Hoffman finished in fourth place, while Dan Lembo rounded out the top five. Tonight's episode began on Day 37 with the remaining five competitors reflecting on the last Tribal Council. Fabio admitted to Dan that he wanted to break up the alliance between Sash, Holly and Chase as they posed the biggest threat. The men then confronted Holly about possibly switching her loyalties to them in order to go to the final three. Fabio said that his game plan moving forward was just to win immunity in order to assure his continued presence in the game. However, Chase and (more)...

'Survivor: Nicaragua' finale: Jud 'Fabio' Birza, Chase Rice, Holly Hoffman or Sash Lenahan? Who won?
Were you surprised by the finale of the 21st season of "Survivor"? We were surprised by a few things, particularly how close the final vote was.
Immunity Challenge
After a season-recapping video montage and some boring strategy talk, the survivors head to the next Immunity Challenge. They have to answer questions about Nicaragua in order to get puzzle pieces, then assemble a puzzle for the win.
Holly, Sash and Chase are in the lead when they get to the puzzle. Dan and Fabio are in it, but far behind. Sash is good at puzzles and looks to have this in the bag, until Fabio masterfully gets his puzzle together and takes it. Wow, good for Fabio.
Pre-Tribal
Fabio is gunning for Holly and he starts working on Chase and Sash to vote her out. Chase seems to be pretty set on Dan because Dan hasn't made any enemies and will easily win jury votes.

The 21st edition of "Survivor" is winding down. The final five going into Sunday's (Dec. 19) two-hour finale and live reunion show are three-person alliance Chase, Holly and Sash plus Fabio and Dan, who are probably goners if they can't pull off a miracle.
We could see Fabio winning Immunity twice in a row to spoil the alliance's plans, but we can't see Dan making a run at it -- unless he convinces one of the alliance members he is such a non-threat to win the money that they should take him to the finals.
Who do you like for the winner? If we had to bet money, under the assumption that Chase/Holly/Sash make the finals, we'd have to go with Chase, but Holly is a threat to win too. If Fabio manages to squeak in there, he'll win the million.
Vote now and don't forget to tune in Sunday night at 8 p.

Whether or not you've embraced her home-spun North Carolina wisdom, you can't deny that Jane Bright has been one of the most memorable characters in the slightly character-deficient "Survivor: Nicaragua" season. Whether she was starting fire without flint, flipping on her fellow "old" contestants to help crush the cocky Marty/Jill alliance or sneaking off into the woods to devour a fish she caught, Jane found a way to become one of the season's most featured contestants. And when she was voted out of the game -- betrayed by cautious Sash and Holly and spineless Chase -- she left with...

The ice-cold way that Sash, Holly and Chase cut Jane's throat on Wednesday's episode of Survivor was the perfect example of how loyalty and friendship get tossed in favor of risk assessment when it comes to the endgame. I know from experience that having to turn on your alliance can be heartbreaking. All those things you dreamed about together from day 2 are coming true - but only for one person. Rather than award a Fishy, I thought I would ask a few of Survivor's best strategists - Jt Thomas, Russell Hantz, Todd Herzog and more - what their endgame experiences were like.

Jane Bright was blindsided on "Survivor: Nicaragua" Wednesday night (Dec. 15) when her own alliance that she thought was good until the final four turned on her. She tells Zap2it that she tried to get Dan and Fabio to side with her once she saw which way the wind was blowing, but they wouldn't.
Are you glad you went on "Survivor"? Was it everything you hoped it would be?
"And more. [laughs] You know, just the opportunity to be selected and be part of a team of 20 people, I thought was pretty awesome. Then to get out there, play the game, win some challenges, do good, I thought it was great."
Why were you, Fabio and Dan so upset about not being taken on the reward. Only three people got to go, Chase couldn't take everybody.
"He had already said he was going to take Sash because Sash hadn't been on any rewards.

We spent the majority of our review going over the follies of Jane and who are the favorites to walk away as the sole survivor on Sunday. But there's still plenty more to talk about from last night. Did Dan and Jud mess up by not voting with Jane? What was Probst doing interfering with the game at tribal council?
As always, we like to hear our readers opinions too.
Should Dan and Jud have tried to vote with Jane?
Kyle Kalember: As it turns out no. Jane just threw a vote to Sash and it would never have worked. I think the only play either of them had was to vote for Jane. Dan might need to scramble more than Fabio does. Fabio can actually win immunity, but Dan won't.
Dan Forcella: Yes! Not only are they too dumb to even come up with this as an idea, but...
