AMC’s “Alan Wake” TV adaptation has brought on two new producers following the exit of its previously announced showrunner, Variety has learned exclusively.
Based on the best-selling video game of the same name, the potential series, which is in the very early stages of development at the cable channel, was originally set to have Peter Calloway serve as its showrunner when it was first set up at producer Contradiction Films in 2018. He has now stepped away from “Alan Wake,” which recently landed at AMC, due to conflicting project timelines.
Meanwhile, Jon Jashni, former president of Legendary Entertainment, and Jeff Ludwig, former vice president of scripted film and television production for Ritchie/Wigram Productions, have joined the drama as executive producer and producer, respectively. A search is currently underway for a new showrunner for the in-the-works show.

If you’re a fan of the video game Alan Wake, you might be happy to hear that there is now a live-action TV series in development. The series is being developed by writer and producer Peter Calloway who has signed on as showrunner and writer. The creator of the game, Sam Lake, has also come on board as executive producer.
They plan on shopping the series around to the networks and studios next month and apparently there’s already a lot of interest. While talking to Variety, producer Tomas Harlan said:
“Alan Wake was basically a TV series that was put into a game. That was Sam’s vision. It was influenced by ‘The Twilight Zone,’ ‘Secret Window,’ Hitchcock, ‘Northern Exposure,’ a lot of U.S. television. We plan to work closely with Sam on our this show. Sam is a huge part of this. This is his baby.

An “Alan Wake” live-action television series is in development with Peter Calloway signed on as showrunner and writer, and game creator Sam Lake as executive producer, Contradiction Films and Remedy Entertainment told Variety.
Contradiction partner Tomas Harlan said the plan is to start shopping the show around in October with Calloway’s full pitch and that he’s already seen initial interest from a number of studios.

Last week at Comic-Con, I participated in roundtable interviews for Dead Rising: Endgame, the second film based on Capcom’s popular zombie video game franchise. With the Legendary Digital Media movie now available to watch on Crackle, the cast and crew discussed their badass characters in the sequel, plans for a Dead Rising TV series, and much more.
Keegan Connor Tracy and Marie Avgeropoulos on what attracted them to the Dead Rising franchise:
Keegan Connor Tracy: My role was actually supposed to be a man in the beginning. For whatever reason, they let me audition, even though it was supposed to be a man. I liked that. I liked that she was a strong character in that respect because originally she was meant to be a man. I felt that if they had written her as a woman, they wouldn’t have written her that way. Legendary Digital Media, Contradiction Films and game developer Comcept Inc. are teaming to develop a live-action feature based on the upcoming video game "Mighty No. 9" which hits stores September 15th.
Legendary Digital and Contradiction previously teamed to produce "Dead Rising: Watchtower," a feature-length adaptation of the zombie video game series "Dead Rising," which premiered on Crackle's online streaming service. A sequel to that is already in the works.
The plan is for the "Mighty No. 9" film to have a similar digital platform premiere. Comcept CEO Keiji Inafune created the game which follows an android named Beck, the ninth in a team of ten combat robots called 'Mighty Numbers.'
When a computer virus strikes, attacking his fellow robots as well as machines around the world, Beck is the only one in his line of androids uninfected. Tomas Harlan and Tim Carter will develop and produce the movie.

Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart will soon have a claim to fame as two female superheroes. The YouTubers have teamed with Legendary Digital Media and Fullscreen to bring the online video masses a reboot of the 1970’s TV show Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl tells the story of two superheroes who leave Akron, Ohio, for Los Angeles, California, to find better crime-fighting opportunities. However, the two women endowed with unique powers reach the City of Angels only to find far more competition (both internal and external) than they were expecting. In addition to its swarming hordes of zombies, Capcom’s Dead Rising video games have always followed interesting human characters striving to survive the streets and buildings choked with the living dead, and now those people will come to life in Dead Rising: Watchtower, a live action film adaptation of the video game franchise from Legendary Digital Media and Crackle that’s showcased in a new trailer.
Dead Rising: Watchtower will be available to stream on Crackle beginning March 27th.
“Principal cast for the upcoming feature-length project includes Jesse Metcalfe (Dallas), Meghan Ory (Intelligence, Once Upon a Time), Virginia Madsen (Sideways) and Dennis Haysbert ( 24, Men, Women & Children).
“Dead Rising: Watchtower” takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy.

We are getting another movie based off a popular video game, and it of course includes more zombies! If you have been waiting to see anything regarding the Dead Rising movie, come check out the first trailer!
It's really hard to base an opinion off this trailer. I can't tell if it is taking itself seriously, or not. If it's not, then it looks farely decent because it looks like a low grade zombie movie with jokes. After all, how can you take Dead Rising seriously? Don't fret though, I had the same problem with the Ant Man trailer.
The good news? Even if this movie is terrible you won't waste a whole lot of money seeing it in theaters. Instead the film will debut on Crackle (Sony's ad runned video service) on March 27th. It should be free to watch, well if you don't count watching ads.

The Wrap is reporting that Leprechaun: Origins director Zach Lipovsky has signed on to direct the previously announced Dead Rising film adaptation from Legendary Entertainment and Crackle.
Sony's Crackle will give the 90-minute feature an exclusive digital release in the U.S. before the film receives a multi-platform release on Svod, VOD, DVD, and TV while Content Media Corp. (Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn) will distribute both feature-length and episodic formats on international platforms.
Dead Rising takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic -- with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage will all play a key role in the movie's story.
The script will be written by Tim Carter, who will also produce the film alongside Tomas Harlan...

Ever since I bought the original Dead Rising when the very first wave of Xbox 360 consoles hit the streets, I knew the incredibly cinematic game was perfect for a big-screen adaptation. Honestly, I’m surprised it took a studio this long to develop the content for film, especially with the popularity of zombie culture in recent years, but Legendary has finally decided to pull the trigger on this now three-game franchise. So, who will play photojournalist Frank West? Or Motocross superstar Chuck Greene? Or mechanic Nick Ramos? Well, the answer might be a little surprising…
