- Vanessa is the lead vocalist for the hardcore band "Victim or Victory".
- She spur-of-the-moment moved to LA in an 80's RV she bought off of Craigslist and drove it from Iowa to California (to pursue acting). The motor vehicle broke down four times on the way to the West Coast. She lived in it for several months with no running water, electricity, heat, a/c, etc. She parked it in Inglewood and that's where she lived upon arriving to LA. It was also used as a mode of transportation to get her to and from auditions during this point in her life.
- Vanessa's favorite Romantic Comedy is "The Apartment", starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. Lemmon is one of her favorite actors.
- She participated in many sports from her Elementary school years until her University days. She specifically soared in Softball and Track/Cross-Country; winning several awards for her athleticism.
- It is important to her to volunteer regularly. She has volunteered for many programs helping kids; ranging from coaching youth softball games to being a Camp Counselor. She recently has been involved in a program that teaches elementary-aged girls the value of not bullying one another, not believing everything that they see in the media, and working on making positive changes to their mental and physical health. She also currently (June 2018) volunteers at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
- Vanessa is a member of the Slauson Rec. Theater School; located in Compton, CA and founded by Shia LaBeouf, Bobby Soto, and Shelley Mitchell. The group has been working on a devised play for the past ten months (as of June 2019).
- Vanessa coaches her niece's little league softball team (as of 2021).
- Buffalo 66, 7 Chinese Brothers, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri are some modern-day films that she has a great love and appreciation for.
- She writes poetry and lyrics in her spare time.
- Was a recurring Co-Star throughout FX's "Sons of Anarchy" and she has been brought back for seasons 2, 3, and 4 of "Mayan's M.C.", where she now has a large recurring role and portrays a heroin abuser named "Hope".
- Passed the written and physical test to become a police officer in 2019. She was going to move to Northern California to become a Park Ranger, but continued acting after being offered the opportunity to continue her recurring role on Mayans M.C.
- Ex-hardcore vocalist. Ex-punk vocalist. Ex-metal vocalist and lyricist.
- Frances McDormand is Vanessa's favorite actress.
- Participated in a boys baseball competition as a child. Vanessa and her parents fought for her to enter. Dozens of boys were involved in the event, and Vanessa came in second place.
- Vanessa lived in Central America for 2 years as a child. During this time in her life, her father bought her a pet monkey from a street corner in Nicaragua.
- Majored in Theatre and Biology at a private University in Des Moines, Iowa.
- Just some of her previous jobs include being a pre-school teacher, working as an administrative assistant and a receptionist, working at an art museum, nannying, waitressing, cashiering, catering, assisting people with special needs, being a band manager, working as a maid, and scrapping metal.
- Coaches Majors Little League softball and is a substitute teacher for grades K-8 (2023).
