"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" ended with a new team of Guardians led by Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper). One of their number was Phyla (Kai Zen), a young white-haired girl and freed test subject of evil geneticist the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji).
If you're a comics fan, then yes, you likely realized that this was indeed the Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnation of the hero Phyla-Vell. If you only watch the movies, you're still thinking (to quote Korath the Pursuer), "Who?!" Well, let me explain.
In the comics, Phyla is the daughter of Captain Marvel — the alien warrior Mar-Vell, not Carol Danvers. Annette Benning played a female version of Mar-Vell in 2019's "Captain Marvel," but the character is traditionally male. Mar-Vell and his progeny are Kree, the imperious race to which "Guardians of the Galaxy" villain Ronan The Accuser (Lee Pace) belonged. The Kree have both blue and pink-shaded skin...

Bloober Team has announced that they’ve signed a licensing and publishing agreement with Skybound Entertainment to develop a new game based on one of Skybound’s intellectual properties. The game, code-named “R“, is expected to be released in 2025.
“This project is another step in our second-party strategy, where we work with external partners to provide our horror know-how,” stated Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno in a press release. “These are titles that are meant to not only give us financial profit, but are the next steps in achieving our strategy by the end of 2027. We have known our friends from Skybound for a long time and I am sure it will be a successful cooperation.”
For those curious, Skybound, which is owned by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, has plenty of IPs that Bloober Team can use. Aside from the obvious, like The Walking Dead and Invincible, Skybound...

The Guardians of the Galaxy are heading to the big screen one last time for Vol. 3. While it appears that the third instalment will mark the end of this current iteration of the team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is every possibility that the roster of heroes will evolve and change for a new era. The value of the Guardians, from the perspective of the Marvel brand and within the MCU itself, is just too big to move away from.
The comics have seen a vast range of heroes join the Guardians, many of which have not been featured in the MCU, or have not been affiliated with the team on screen. As Marvel looks to its next eras and continues to map out what might happen with the squad, these characters are fantastic figures to draw inspiration from. Their inclusion into a future team would make narrative sense,...

How do you solve a problem like Frank Castle?
The Punisher has had a wild career since Gerry Conway, John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru created him way back in 1974. Originally a pretty clear cut villain, his popularity saw him frequently guest star so much he morphed into something of an anti-hero. You can blame Frank Miller for that one. His graduation to his own multiple books saw him become one of Marvel’s biggest characters in the early 1990s, together with Wolverine and Ghost Rider. Heck, he even got his own Netflix TV show just a few years ago. So, why has Frank not been flavour of the month lately?
With The Punisher Marvel now have something of an image problem. Seems if you like to make money from the Punisher skull logo, you have...

Jason Aaron has written just about every corner of the Marvel Universe. His seven year run on Thor is critically beloved and the foundation of Thor: Love and Thunder. He’s been the architect of the Avengers for 50+ issues now, and put in a brief bright spot on Wolverine and the X-Men in one of the mutants’ darkest publishing times. He’s even got a stint on a Max line Punisher book under his belt. But he really wanted to play with Frank Castle in the main Marvel Universe.
“I’d never really written Frank in a big way in the Marvel U until I did War of the Realms and threw Frank into that,” Aaron tells us in an interview about his new book Punisher, with Jesus Saiz, Paul Azaceta, and Dave Stewart. “I had a lot of...

In Marvel comics, Carol Danvers is only the latest character to call herself Captain Marvel. Here are the six others…
For a superhero that shares the name of the very company that publishes their adventures, the Captain Marvel identity has been surprisingly inconsistent over the years. Indeed, the first Captain Marvel wasn’t owned by Marvel at all, and it wasn’t until the late 1960s that Marvel had its own version of the character.
But Mar-Vell, who you may have heard of, was only the first in a long line of heroes who took the name – a line which culminates with Carol Danvers hitting cinema screens as the star of the Captain Marvel movie.
Here's a rundown of all the characters who have donned the Captain Marvel persona:
1. Mar-Vell

There was only a slim chance that Robert Kirkman’s Outcast could go to a third season, and that is now gone. “There are no further plans for Outcast at this time,” a spokesman for the network said in a statement.
The news comes as a little surprise. Outcast had been on the back burner at Cinemax, with its second season finally airing this summer, two and a half years after it was ordered and about two years after it was produced. The options on the cast have long lapsed, and everyone had moved on.
A few months after Cinemax renewed Outcast for Season 2 in March 2016 ahead of its series premiere, the network overhauled its programming strategy, pulling away from expensive, dark hometown series like Outcast in favor of fun, high-octane, action, pulpy dramas done in a cost-effective way primarily as international co-productions.

Cinemax has decided to cancel Robert Kirkman’s drama “Outcast” after two seasons.
“There are no further plans for ‘Outcast’ at this time,” said a Cinemax spokesperson.
Cinemax had initially showed strong belief in the series, handing out a second season pickup before it even premiered. But the drama was plagued by a shift in strategy at the network. Season two, which didn’t air until two years after its freshman run, wrapped on Sept. 28.
The pilot, written by Kirkman, landed at Cinemax after it was shopped as a spec and developed at Fox International Channels.

Cinemax has set Friday, July 20 at 10 Pm for the Season 2 premiere of Robert Kirkman’s suspense-horror series Outcast.
The U.S. launch comes a year after the series’ second season aired on the Fox International channels.
Kary Antholis, president, HBO Miniseries and Cinemax Programming talked about the series’ future beyond a second season last fall, noting that the show is expensive, and, because its U.S. airing comes more than a year after the season was filmed, the options on the cast have long lapsed.
“I think the new season is very strong, and I hope it’s got a bit more fun and entertainment in it, and is a step forward,” Antholis told Deadline. “In success, we left open the possibility that we could have a conversation about figuring out a way to bring it back.” Because the show is so expensive, “part of the consideration in doing that will be,...
