Last summer's Aladdin made Disney rich enough to impress a princess. Studio stands by its oath loyalty to a sequel or three.
There's still a lot of gray area, but after the billion-dollar success of last summer’s reboot, Disney is developing a sequel to Aladdin, according to Variety. Director Guy Ritchie is scheduled to return to the helm. Aladdin starred Will Smith as Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine, who are expected to take another ride on the carpet.
Aladdin 2 will be an original story and not follow the sequels to 1992's Aladdin, 1994's The Return of Jafar or Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996), which went straight-to-dvd. The Aladdin 2 screenplay will be written by John Gatins, who was nominated for an Academy Award for writing the Denzel Washington film Flight, and Andrea Berloff, who was nominated for an Oscar...

Disney is developing a spinoff of its live-action “Aladdin” with Billy Magnussen reprising his Prince Anders character.
The unnamed project is in early development for the studio’s recently launched Disney Plus streaming service. Disney has hired Jordan Dunn and Michael Kvamme to write a script centered on the haughty Prince Anders, one of Princess Jasmine’s suitors.
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, producers of “Aladdin,” are producing the spinoff through their Rideback company. Rideback’s Ryan Halprin will executive produce.
“Aladdin” became the 41st title to cross the $1 billion worldwide box office mark in July. It opened with $117 million over the Memorial Day holiday and easily outperformed Disney’s pre-opening domestic projections along with underlining the validity of the studio’s strategy of rebooting its animated classics such as “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Jungle Book.”

Make way for Prince…Anders? A spinoff film based on Disney’s live-action remake of “Aladdin” is headed to Disney+, and Billy Magnussen, who played Prince Anders in the remake, will star in the project, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Magnussen was one of the smarmy, wealthy princes who visits Agrabah to try and win Princess Jasmine’s (Naomi Scott) heart, and though his role was small, the rising star proved to be a scene-stealer in the film.
Jordan Dunn and Michael Kvamme are attached to write the script for the untitled film that’s considered in early development at Disney+. Magnussen would reprise his role in the film, though the movie is not intended to be a sequel to “Aladdin.”

Millennials and Gen-Zers, say goodbye to the David Hasselhoff “SpongeBob” cameos of your childhood. According to the “Sponge on the Run” trailer, Keanu Reeves, or rather his floating head, will make an appearance in the upcoming film premiering May 22, 2020.
The latest film in the SpongeBob franchise follows the yellow sponged hero and his friend Patrick as they set off on the road in their search to find SpongeBob’s lost snail Gary.
“Call me Sage. I’m made of sage and I am a sage, so it works out pretty well,” Reeves says to the duo, to which the affable but not-so-smart companion responds by saying, “I’m Patrick, my name means ‘toaster’ in Celtic.”
Along with an updated Patty-mobile, the trailer also shows SpongeBob and Patrick falling prey to ice cream, churros, cotton candy and the dangers of gambling after stumbling upon the lost city of Atlantic City.

Will Ferrell has signed on to star in yet another sports comedy. This isn't just any sport, though. Ferrall, along with Legendary, Mosaic, and Gary Sanchez Productions are going where no major motion picture has gone before, into the world of eSports!
Will Ferrell has been a Nascar driver, semi-pro Basketball player, and even a figure skater. Now, he intends on conquering the fast-rising video game leagues of eSports. eSports isn't like your normal NFL, NBA, or Mlb. Instead, it embodies not just one game, but several including League of Legends, Counterstrike, Super Smash Bros., World of Warcraft, etc.
If you're unfamiliar with eSports and are scoffing at this idea, eSports is no joke. Where NFL players get $20 million contracts that get paid out over 4 years, eSports players can get close to that in one night, by winning championships and earning endorsements.
As for Ferrell's new film, it's way too...

He’s dabbled in the über-competitive worlds of fashion, basketball, figure-skating and Nascar racing thanks to Zoolander, Semi-Pro, Blades of Glory and Talladega Nights but now, Will Ferrell has his eye on a different sport altogether: competitive gaming.

Every football team has its designated players to take certain set-pieces. Some teams have the same person taking corners, free kicks and penalties, other teams have different players for each, sometimes different players share the responsibilities, but there are always individuals who clearly spend more time practising certain set-pieces on the training ground and, as a result, often earn reputations as set-piece experts.
In Spurs’ case, there really haven’t been too many players that they can truly call set-piece experts – certainly not back in the early days of the Premier League – but there have certainly been a few.
From players who could whip in the perfect corner or indirect free kick, to those players who could put a dead ball in to the top corner of the opposing goal from thirty yards out, Spurs have boasted a select few professionals with enviable talent in that regard.
