Image Entertainment has come a really long way. Within the last few years they have climbed to the top of the quality DVD and Blu-ray mountain with stellar releases of "The Twilight Zone" and much more. Now it appears as if the best is yet to come!
As per Variety:
Image Entertainment has signed a long-term agreement with Lakeshore Entertainment to distribute their catalog in North America.
The agreement, announced Tuesday, covers Blu-ray/DVD, VOD and digital rights. "The Lakeshore Entertainment library is a wonderful addition to our already extensive catalog," said Ted Green, chairman and CEO for Image.
The Lakeshore library consists of the former New World library, most of which has never been released on Blu-ray. Notable titles include "Heathers," "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," "18 Again!" and "Soul Man."

Ever feel as though your own Criterion DVD collection has been a little empty, missing a release of, say, The Three Stooges?
Well, your prayers may have just been answered.
According to reports, Image Entertainment, the home video distributor for The Criterion Collection, has just purchased Madacy Home Video, home to such legendary TV titles such as The Lucy Show, Bonanza and, you guessed it, The Three Stooges, as well as The John Wayne Collection, and Born To Run, an early Robert De Niro film from 1971, directed by Ivan Passer.
Now, as the home video distributor for the Criterion Collection, the obvious next question is, what would be a good fit in the collection? While Image and Criterion are two separate entities, it is interesting to think about how one affects the other. Just because Image now has access to these titles, doesn’t mean that Criterion can pick whatever they want from them.

Image Entertainment & Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Sign Multi-Year DVD/Blu-ray Distribution Deal
In the wake of the recent announcement of the upcoming Criterion Collection release of the “New Hollywood” box set, called America Lost And Found: The Bbs Story, it looks like the Collection may have a chance to delve back into the Sony Pictures/Columbia Pictures catalogue, thanks to a new deal.
According to a press release, Criterion Collection distributor Image Entertainment has just struck a multi-year deal with the film studio. The deal will allow Sphe to manufacture and release any and all upcoming Image Entertainment Blu-ray and DVD releases, and in return, Sphe has licensed “an undisclosed” number of films from their back log to Image for distribution.
This deal, taken along with the America Lost And Found: The Bbs Story box set featuring solely Sony Pictures releases, leads me to believe that we may very well see a few more Sony Pictures releases getting the Criterion treatment. The...
