Ok, Ok, it’s still Season 9’s Top 12 announcement night — where Katelyn Epperly, Lilly Scott, Todrick Hall and Alex Lambert got axed in favor of Paige Miles, Katie Stevens, Andrew Garcia and High-School Student Aaron Kelly — but Season 15’s Philadelphia Auditions is definitely in contention for first runner-up.

I love singing competition shows (I also hate having friends, which works out great). So Justin Timberlake’s rumored plans for a possible Myspace talent show have me intrigued.
The singer/serious actor’s manager Johnny Wright told THR that a talent competition could be in the plans for the Myspace facelift project Timberlake recently signed on for, that will focus on making the social networking elder a destination and platform for new and existing artists. Official plans will be announced at an Aug. 17 press conference, where he will also likely wish me a happy birthday (a dream elf confirms to me).

With American Idol fans — and our recapper Annie Barrett — still lamenting the early ousting of Kendra Chantelle (I was equally sad to see rocker Lauren Turner fail to make the Top 13), it feels like the right time to ask which early exists on Idol still upset you, even if they happened all the way back in season 1. Of course, Jennifer Hudson and Alex Lambert come to mind as gone-too-soon contestants. But dig deep, PopWatchers. On their marks! Get set! Go! [Cue the sound of a stalled car.]
America got its first official glimpse at the Top 12 men of season 10 Tuesday night (March 1) and things were as psychotically bipolar as a certain sitcom star currently making the rounds. (I'm looking at you, Emmanuel Lewis!)
For every exhilarating Casey Abrams, there was a soul-crushing disappointment of Sundance Head proportions. (Oh the humanity, Tim Halperin!) Still, a trio of final performances (and a couple others) kept the momentum of "Idol X: Lauren Alaina or Bust" going strong.

Some things in life are certainties: Steven Tyler’s penchant for profanity. Jennifer Lopez’s ability to add sparkle to just about anything (her eyelids, a pair of mom shorts, the Glinda-like bubble that perpetually surrounds her). And the way that, despite Ryan Seacrest’s best efforts, American Idol‘s “Holding Rooms of Doom” episodes are never really all that suspenseful.

Remember way back when Season 9's Alex Lambert claimed, via Twitter, to be living on the streets? Then a rep from 19 Entertainment, which has a development deal with Lambert, claimed the contrary, citing a retainer from which Lambert recieves monthly checks.
Well, Lambert, who's been tweeting away over the past month, had this to tweet about 19 Entertainment's reponse:
"19 entertainment put me on a retainer>>?"
Then, in a response to a tweet from fellow season 9-er Andrew Garcia asking what a retainer is (umm), Lambert followed up:
"$$$ dude! These guys have been telling the media they been payin me! Makin me look like im lyin! It's a shame dude!"

For the first time in 10 seasons, "American Idol" hit Milwaukee for an audition round. Milwaukee: Best known for cheese, beer and Danny Gokey. To honor the occasion, I'm drinkin' a brewsky (imported, natch), nibbling on some cheddar, (Cheez-Its, natch) and I don't plan on ever, ever shutting up.
Mr. Gokey returned to "Idol" during Wednesday night's (January 26) audition episode, happily telling hopeful contestants, "In a moment your life can change, you guys!" He's right — it only takes an instant (and a tragic back story) to turn you into the target of "Idol" bloggers' venom and resentment.
Which brings us to Chris Medina, the most polarizing contestant since the Gokester. (I know Julie Andrews says, "Let's start at the very beginning," but she's not the boss of me. I'm doing this blog "Memento" style, starting at the end and working my way back. Deal with it, Maria von Trapp.)

We noticed over the past few days that American Idol alum Adam Lambert (not to be confused with his fellow homeless-but-not-really Idol contestant Alex Lambert) has been rocking a new hairstyle. Gone is the spiky, goth version of the Kate Gosselin, the look that made him famous. Now, Lambert’s been showing off a more product-free, looser and longer variation. Lambert went out to dinner in L.A. last night with his new hair down, and he’s attended a few other parties this week with his new look, too. (Please do yourself a favor and check out his insane getup at the RuPaul’s Drag Race premiere. Please.) What do you think, do you miss the old, hard-edged Lambert, or do you like the change of pace? If you can’t decide, maybe the close-ups of Lambert in our gallery will help.

Turns out American Idol's Alex Lambert isn't homeless, just horsing around. The former American idol contestant rose from obscurity momentarily when a tweet that claimed he was living behind buildings and sleeping on the street hit the news wire. Turns out he really did tweet that, but his representation is claiming it's not true.
Turns out Lambert's tweet was more about him expressing his devotion to his craft than a cry for help. "I have money! And soon I will have a place to stay! I just wanted to let yall know! I'm not some rich spoiled kid! That I've had to hustle and grind and I don't mind sleepin on the street as long as I get my chance! Because I will not take it for granted! I hope yall understand."
Regardless of his intent, the timing is extremely suspect. A few days before American Idol kicks off...

Alex Lambert, a semi-finalist on season 9 of "American Idol", has generated media frenzy on Tuesday, January 18 with his Twitter rant about being homeless. If only reality TV were any kind of preparation for... reality.
"American Idol" Season 9 contestant, and participant in Simon Fuller's odd, Hulu-based reality series "If I Can Dream," Alex Lambert has fallen on hard times. The aspiring singer took to his (unverified!) Twitter account late Jan. 17 to spill his guts about his current situation.
"Ever since 'Iicd' ended I've been kinda homeless!" writes Lambert. "Sleeping [sic] on the street and behind buildings. I have a choice to stay and pursue my career or go back to Texas and not do music! I'm usually a strong person but I can't take it anymore."
We certainly empathize with Lambert, but "kinda homeless" is sleeping on your friends' couches -- not in the alley next to a Los Angeles Starbucks. This qualifies as "definitely homeless."
As for how he's tweeting from the streets, Lambert says he's been going into coffee shops and stores to get the word out.

Alex Lambert, Season 9 American Idol hopeful, has taken the adage starving artist to an entirely new meaning. After being booted from Idol’s Top 24, the 20-year-old Texas native starred in If I Can Dream, Simon Fuller’s web series, and even appeared on VH1’s Don’t Forget the Lyrics in November 2010. Rather than drumming up buzz for new music, the reality star is making headlines after sending out a string of tweets declaring that he is homeless and living on the streets of L.A."Ever since Iicd ended I've been kinda homless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings.I have a choice...

Does Ellen DeGeneres know about this? Alex Lambert got a lot of mileage from those (including Ellen) who thought he was booted far too early from last year’s American Idol season. But the singer says he’s hit hard times since appearing on the reality show, If I Can Dream. “Ever since Iicd ended I’ve been kinda homeless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings,” he tweeted. I have a choice to stay and persue my career or go back to texas and not do music! I’m usually a strong person but I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been goin to coffee shops and other stores so I can tweet to my snaf! Because to be honest! You guys are all I really have!” Despite the alarm, Lambert clarified that he hasn’t thrown in the towel yet. “There’s no way I’ll ever...

'American Idol' season 9 semi-finalist Alex Lambert is now homeless and living on the street, according to his Twitter account.
If we're to believe the unverified "TrueAlexLambert" is indeed the mullet-sporting Texas crooner, he's fallen on some pretty hard times after appearing on the web series 'If I Can Dream,' which was created by 'Idol' executive producer Simon Fuller.

Tuesday, your “journey” has come to an end — at least with regard to American Idol.
Yes indeed, in a move that may have rival networks reexamining their own 2011 programming rosters, Fox revealed yesterday that Idol is shifting to a Wednesday-Thursday schedule, abandoning the Tuesday-Wednesday timetable around which the Idoloonie nation has built its entire life its TV viewing calendar for the last nine seasons. If I Can Dream's Alex Lambert sure knows how to multitask. The 29-year-old singer/songwriter talked to a reported from Idolator about how he had only performed at two coffee shops before landing a spot on the ninth season of Idol. Alex says that he has now mastered the art of performing and that he enjoys the musician life. "I love making music for people," Alex says, "We're just tellin' stories, baby!" Making it in Hollywood can be a challenging experience, sometimes moreso than others. Just ask the cast of the interactive "post-reality" series If I Can Dream. If I Can Dream follows a group of showbiz hopefuls—former American Idol contender Alex Lambert, high-fashion model Giglianne Braga, and aspiring thespians Ben Elliott and Kara Killmer—as they struggle to establish themselves in Hollywood. In order to better prepare the gang for the trials before them, the showbiz hopefuls were sent out on a scavenger hunt in Tinseltown, during which the cast—split up along gender lines—were charged with tasks such as raising $15 dollars to...

Ellen DeGeneres was the first to admit that her first, and as it turns out, last, season on "American Idol" was not smooth sailing. In the statement announcing her departure from the show, the daytime talk queen and veteran comedienne copped to feeling uncomfortable criticizing young singers. "It was a difficult decision to make," DeGeneres said, "but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings."
MTV News reached out to its panel of "Idol" experts for reaction on Friday (July 30), and each member said they were not shocked that DeGeneres pulled the ripcord on her three-year contract.

That's still number one on my list of who I want to work with... I like a lot of rappers but I feel like he's just a lyrical genius." (more)...

Talk about a great way to get a lot of attention for a new Web series.
Justin Gaston, whom you may remember from being Miley Cyrus' super-cute underwear model boyfriend, and hot newcomers Giglianne Braga, and Ben Elliot have shed their clothes for PETA, the animal rights organization.
All three are on the new 24/7 Hulu reality show "If I Can Dream," the brainchild of "American Idol" and So You Think You Can Dance" creator Simon Fuller and 19 Entertainment.
We are suddenly very (make that Very) intrigued by "Iicd", which features five aspiring artists who try to make it in Hollywood while the world watches them all day and all night, seven days a week. Just think, you get to watch Justin sleep, just like Miley used to.
With 60 cameras rolling 24/7, viewers watch as these contestants get mentored by Fuller's best managers and coaches and live their lives. They stay...

Opinions have been largely negative surrounding the ninth season of Fox's hit singing competition show -- but is this really the worst season in "American Idol" history? We don't think so.
We think this is more a case of the collective "Idol" viewing audience having some short-term memory loss. Sure, in comparison to the David vs. David showdown of two years ago and the spectacle that was Adam Lambert coupled with whiskey-voiced Allison Iraheta and cutie-pie Kris Allen, Season 9 seemed a little boring.
But let's not forget the seasons prior to seven and eight. Do you even remember the black hole that was Season 3?
Season 9's Paige Miles is arguably the best 11th-place finisher ever, with the possible exception of Alexis Grace. Unfortunately for Paige, the week she was eliminated she was very obviously sick and had had no exposure prior to the Top 24, thus no fan base to get her through the rough patch.

The 24 year old singer from Mount Prospect, Illinois, wowed the audience and judges alike on Tuesday night with his renditions of “The Boxer“, “Everybody Hurts” and his eventual winners single “Beautiful Day“. On his final performance of the U2 song Simon Cowell said:

Before finding out who won last night’s American Idol finale (it was Lee DeWyze btw), top two Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze took to the stage with British rock/blues legend Joe Cocker and delivered a spirited rendition of his 1968 hit ‘With A Little Help From My Friends.
Cocker’s gritty vocals were the perfect midpoint between Lee’s gravelly tones and Crystal’s folksy style. The three gelled together brilliantly and we thought it was one of, if not the best and most exciting performance of the night. It was a fantastic way to lead into the big announcement too and really helped build the moment well.

Will Young has to be one of our favourite reality TV stars ever, certainly one of the most talented and we were delighted to see him cross the pond to sing on last night’s American Idol final performance show.
