CBS‘ single-camera comedy pilot Dmv has added Alex Tarrant (NCIS: Hawai’i), Tony Cavalero (The Righteous Gemstones) and Gigi Zumbado (Doctor Odyssey) in series regular roles.

They join the previously announced cast of Tim Meadows, Harriet Dyer and Molly Kearney.

Written by Dana Klein based on author Katherine Heiny’s short story, Dmv is a workplace comedy set at the place everyone dreads going most: the Dmv. Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Good thing they have each other.

Tarrant will play “Noa,” a dreamy, charismatic, golden boy who seems destined for much greater things than working at the Dmv. He is good at everything and never gets into awkward situations. A star surfer, he lives the “Pura Vida” life and doesn’t sweat the small stuff.

She’s starring as Martin in an untitled sports biopic, directed by David Michod, that recently started production. Martin is a former professional boxer who competed from 1989-2012 and was the world champion in the super welterweight class in 2009. In 2010, she also survived a murder attempt by her husband, James Martin. He stabbed Christy multiple times and shot her at their Florida home, but she survived. Indie film distributor Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired North American rights to the thriller “Cold Wallet” from Blue Finch Films.

Directed by Cutter Hodierne (“Fishing Without Nets”) and presented by Steven Soderbergh, the film stars Raúl Castillo (“Cassandro”) and Melonie Diaz (“The First Purge”), with Tony Cavalero (“The Righteous Gemstones”) and Josh Brener (“Silicon Valley”), as well as Zoe Winters (“Succession”).

The film follows a ragtag team of vigilante Redditors who, after losing everything in a cryptocurrency scam, attempt to track down and kidnap the elusive crypto empire kingpin responsible for their sudden financial ruin. But when the home invasion takes a turn for the worse, they unwittingly become pawns in a psychological game that will test both their loyalty and their sanity.

Well Go has slated the film for an early 2025 theatrical release. The movie, which first premiered at SXSW 2024, will have its west coast premiere at Screamfest Horror Film Festival in L.

“The Righteous Gemstones” star Tony Cavalero has joined the cast of “Lips Like Sugar,” a crime thriller set during the 1984 summer Olympics Games in Los Angeles, starring Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson.

Cavalero is best known for his breakout performance as Keefe, the lovable ex-Satanist turned fan-favorite mullet man, in Danny McBride’s cult hit HBO series. “The Righteous Gemstones” was renewed for a fourth season last July.

It’s great to see the always terrific Raúl Castillo in a lead role, bringing both despair and tenacious grit to a luckless blue-collar father whose dreams of liquidity are shattered by a cryptocurrency scam. Cutter Hodierne’s thriller about three financial crime victims who go after the man responsible, Cold Wallet, doesn’t always make the tech talk crackle or exactly nail the tone he appears to be going for, of home invasion tension streaked with dark humor. But solid performances and a pulpy scenario that keeps you guessing make this a suspenseful watch.

While it’s clear that director Hodierne and screenwriter John Hibey know the crypto world, your mileage may vary depending on familiarity with meme stocks and doxing, securities fraud and blockchain. Steven Soderbergh is turning up the heat on cryptocurrency scams in thriller “Cold Wallet.”

Soderbergh officially presents the feature, directed by Cutter Hodierne (“Fishing Without Nets”). “Cold Wallet” is set to premiere at the 2024 SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 8 as part of the Narrative Spotlight section; the film is among IndieWire’s must-see picks for the festival.

Viewership for the back-to-back final episodes of “The Righteous Gemstones” Season 3 was up 9% from the two episodes dropped during its June premiere, TheWrap can reveal exclusively.

As the HBO comedy wrapped up its third installment Sunday evening, the final two episodes averaged 590,000 viewers across streaming platform Max and linear telecasts, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day viewership.

With the added boost from the finale episodes, “The Righteous Gemstones” Season 3 is on track to become the series’ most watched season yet. The first five episodes of the nine-episode season have averaged over 5 million viewers, currently outpacing the average viewership for Season 2 episodes after the same amount of time by over 10%. While Season 2 averaged 4.3 million viewers at this time, the second installment went on to average 5.1 million viewers across platforms.

HBO’s officially renewed the comedy series The Righteous Gemstones for a fourth season, announcing the renewal order three days prior to the season three finale. HBO’s announcement didn’t indicate a targeted premiere date – or even season four premiere year. The announcement also didn’t provide details on the episode count or potential storylines.

“Get ready for more of the hilarious adrenaline ride that is The Righteous Gemstones. As this truly biblical season comes to a close on Sunday night, I am delighted to announce that we are picking up a fourth season,” stated Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO & Max Comedy Series.

HBO is keeping its hit Danny McBride comedy series, The Righteous Gemstones, around.

The series has been renewed for Season 4.

The premium cabler notes the series is on track to reach its most-viewed season to date, with episodes currently averaging 4.9 million viewers and growing.

It is now Danny McBride's most-watched HBO series, garnering more viewers than Eastbound and Down (2009-2013) and Vice Principals (2016-2017), which averaged 4.2 million viewers and 4.8 million viewers, respectively.

The renewal announcement comes ahead of the Season 3 finale, which will air on July 30 on HBO and Max. Per HBO, the third season is averaging 4.9 million viewers per episode across linear and streaming.

The comedy series tells the story of the titular Gemstone family, who are world-famous televangelists. Per the official logline, “When the spoiled Gemstone children finally get their wish to take control of the Church, they discover leadership is harder than they imagined and that their extravagant lifestyle comes with a heavy price.”

Coming off of what was arguably its funniest episode of its current third season, The Righteous Gemstones has been blessed with a fourth season pickup at HBO.

The premium cabler made the renewal official on Thursday, just three days ahead of the religious satire’s Season 3 finale (Sunday at 10/9c).

Ahead of its Season 3 finale, “The Righteous Gemstones” has been renewed for a fourth season on HBO. The nine-episode current season is set to conclude Sunday night.

Exclusive: Rotten Science has rounded out the cast for its first feature, Operation Taco Gary’s, enlisting Dustin Milligan (Schitt’s Creek), Brenda Song (Dollface), Tony Cavalero (The Righteous Gemstones), Jason Biggs (American Pie), Doug Jones (Star Trek: Discovery) and Arturo Castro (The Menu) for roles opposite the previously announced Simon Rex.

Written and directed by Michael Kvamme, the film tells the story of Danny (Rex), an off-the-grid conspiracy theorist takes his estranged brother, Luke (Milligan), on a road trip with a secret agenda. Details as to the characters to be played by our other new cast members haven’t been disclosed.
