Veteran film producer and distribution executive Avi Federgreen’s Toronto-based sales company Indiecan Entertainment International has unveiled its Cannes Film Market slate.
Leading the slate is “She Was Here,” a documentary that delves into the life of beloved child actress Heather O’Rourke, famed for her role in the “Poltergeist” and known for the line “They’re here.” O’Rourke’s life was tragically cut short at the age of 12. Director Nick Bailey explores O’Rourke’s untold story, featuring interviews with her “Poltergeist” co-stars Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams, as well as Heather’s mother and sister. The documentary is produced by Brian Pocrass, Reese Eveneshen and Federgreen.

Written by Winter State’s Hamid and Camille Torabpour, the film is set in Deep Haven, which is known for its world-renowned Santa Claus festival that keeps the small town alive all year round. But beneath all the Christmas Spirit, tinsel and lights, there’s a darkness lurking. And this year, the 12 days of Christmas get turned upside down. After the murder of her best friend, big city detective, Eve, is lured back to her hometown to solve the crime. With each passing victim, the killer seems to be closer to home than ever. Will she solve what “my true love gave to me” before it’s too late or will Santa check the final name off his list?

Exclusive: Dyllón Burnside, star of Ryan Murphy shows Pose, American Horror Story and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, will make his London stage debut in Black Superhero, the debut play from British actor, activist and playwright Danny Lee Wynter.
Florida-born Burnside will play King, a Black, queer movie star “with the world at his feet,” Wynter told Deadline.
King is “an out, global film star,” Wynter added. “He’s open about his sexuality but he’s not open about his private life, about whom he dates,” Wynter explained.
Burnside character King plays a superhero called Craw in the show that will run at the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Downstairs located in Chelsea’s Sloane Square from March 14 through April 29. Official opening night is March 21.

Set in a rundown Rv park during the summer of 2003, the drama follows Goat, a 12-year-old, surfing-obsessed, prodigal skater girl over the unstructured days of the summer as she dreams of becoming a surfer like her deceased father, even though she lives 700km from the ocean.
Sponheimer also appears in front of the camera alongside freshly announced young cast members Shayelin Martin as Goat as well as Leandro Guedes and Dyllón Burnside in supporting roles.
