The end of the fifth episode of "X-Men '97" gave fans quite the shock. Not only did the peaceful haven of Genosha suddenly find itself under attack by a massive Tri-Sentinel Master Mold that massacred unknown numbers of mutants, but the beloved X-Men team member Gambit met his demise in a final act of heroism that stopped the tragedy from getting even worse. A week later, the end of the sixth episode revealed that it was recurring X-Men villain Mister Sinister who was behind the attack, having manipulated Bolivar Trask into activating the Sentinel strike. But as we learned in this week's seventh episode, "Bright Eyes," Sinister is just one part of the equation.
Throughout episode 7 of "X-Men '97," Rogue is trying to figure out who was responsible for the destruction on Genosha and the death of Gambit. She's out for vengeance, and in her pursuit, she encounters Captain America,...

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
Like the original X-Men: The Animated Series before it, X-Men ’97 has been a masterclass in adapting (and updating) classic comic book storylines in ways that make them feel fresh and surprising. The latest episode, “Bright Eyes,” continues this tradition.
“Bright Eyes” deals with the fallout of the destruction of Genosha, with both a beautiful eulogy that Nightcrawler delivers at Gambit’s funeral but also Rogue going, well, rogue to punish those behind Remy’s death. But the biggest reveals involve not just confirmation of Cable’s relationship to Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, but also that Magneto is still alive and being held hostage by a new villain, one with major ramifications for the rest of this animated universe…

When Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy series The Gentlemen debuted on Netflix in March, it came in at #1 Global Top 10 for English-Language Series, garnering 1.2B minutes viewed in its first four days on the platform, according to Nielsen. That being said, will there be a Season 2?
“It wasn’t genuinely discussed,” star Theo James admitted today, in an appearance at Deadline’s Contenders TV. “I think it would be a wrangling process with all of us and Guy. But also, I think with a show like this, if you’re going to do more, you need to come up with a really interesting conceit for Season 2. The number of Gold Derby readers predicting the 2024 Primetime Emmy nominations in 16 major categories has risen above 2,000 even with the nominations announcement still three months away. Our predicted lineups have changed significantly within the last week alone, indicating increased support for some programs and greater apathy toward others.
Four new predicted acting nominees have emerged since April 1. The only one hailing from a continuing series is Theo James (“The Gentlemen”), who grabbed the fifth comedy lead actor spot from Kelsey Grammer (“Frasier”). The other three are TV movie star Tony Shalhoub (“Mr. Monk’s Last Case”) and limited series actresses Anna Sawai (lead; “Shōgun”) and Fiona Shaw (supporting; “True Detective: Night Country”) who displace Michael Douglas (“Franklin”), Naomi Watts (“Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”), and Andrea Riseborough (“The Regime”) respectively.

Everyone who’s binged Guy Richie’s Action Comedy series The Gentlemen on Netflix lately is arguably swooning over Theo James. There is something so profound about hearing deep-voiced James indulge in profanity with a straight face and an air of nonchalance. He has been the talk of the town after his recent stint starring as aristocratic Eddy Horniman, with rave reviews about his sarcastic flair and dry humor. While viewers are typically used to seeing James play serious characters, it was a fresh change to witness him embrace a role in a rather comedic show. The actor has had a solid

Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen returns as a spinoff of his acclaimed 2019 film of the same name.
However, the burning question remains: will the Netflix original series be renewed for a second season?
Loosely tethered to the narrative of its cinematic predecessor, Netflix’s The Gentlemen centers around Eddie Halstead, played by Theo James, who unexpectedly inherits his family’s opulent estate, only to uncover its integration into a marijuana cultivation scheme orchestrated by a criminal kingpin.
In keeping with Ritchie’s distinctive style, the series offers a tongue-in-cheek escapade, where humor intertwines seamlessly with action reminiscent of the original film.
With Ritchie’s trademark flair for storytelling prominently featured, The Gentlemen on Netflix promises an exhilarating ride for fans of the director’s work.
There is potential for a second season as the series continues to trend on Netflix.

A Stephen King horror story about a malevolent (sort of) doll almost sounds like something that could've been written specifically for James Wan to turn into a movie. But while the filmmaker behind "Saw," "Insidious," "The Conjuring," and "Malignant" is indeed involved in adapting "The Monkey" -- a short story King wrote for Gallery magazine in 1980 before later including it in his 1985 collection "Skeleton Crew" -- for the screen, he's only lending his services as a producer.
Instead, "The Monkey" is being written and directed by Osgood "Oz" Perkins, son of "Psycho" actor Anthony Perkins and the mind behind such creepily atmospheric and inventively stylized horror pictures as "The Blackcoat's Daughter," "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House," and "Gretel & Hansel". Osgood Perkins is also currently riding high thanks to the buzz around "Longlegs," his upcoming occult serial killer horror-thriller that boasts one of the most intriguing trailers in recent memory.

Jack Black is totally down for a School of Rock sequel.
More than two decades after the beloved musical comedy, directed by Richard Linklater, premiered in 2003, the actor-comedian recently told Joe that he’s “ready” to reprise his role as energetic musician Dewey Finn.
“I wish there’d be a School of Rock 2 Electric Boogaloo,” he said, referencing the movie title of the 1984 sequel to Breakin’.
School of Rock follows Dewey, who became a substitute teacher at an uptight elementary private school after being kicked out of his rock band. But along the way, he tries to turn his class into their own rock band. The film also starred Mike White, Joan Cusack, Adam Pascal, Lucas Papaelias, Chris Stack, Sarah Silverman and Miranda Cosgrove.
Black also admitted that he would like to see the original film’s writer, White, return to pen the script for the hypothetical sequel. However, he acknowledged that White,...

The '90s gave us some of the best kids' show theme songs of all time, from "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" to "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." But even those classic examples couldn't quite match the sheer ear-wormery of the opening titles to "X-Men: The Animated Series." The beloved Fox Kids show didn't even need lyrics to embed itself in the collective cortex of a generation, who can surely recall its dynamic, synthesized tones in a split second.
Now, Disney has decided to tap into that reservoir of nostalgia with "X-Men '97," an animated streaming show that apes the original's distinctive visual style and picks up where its 1997 series finale left off. Everything we've seen in the lead-up to its release points to a faithful revival, with the easter egg-filled "X-Men '97" trailer promising a show that not only feels aesthetically akin to the original but brings back plenty of the Og voice actors.

Production designer Martyn John recalls showing filmmaker Guy Ritchie at least 24 English country houses for the 2019 film “The Gentlemen.” Ritchie eventually chose the stately home of Basildon Park, Berkshire in the U.K. for that film.
When it came to filming the Netflix spinoff series of the same name, Ritchie sought a home that was an exceptional piece of architecture with faded grandeur. Having researched houses and manors for the film, John had six homes in mind. Narrowing it down was easy. “As soon as I got to Badminton House, I knew that was the one,” says John.
Located in Gloucestershire, two hours away from London, Badminton House was beautiful, grand and faded with lots of cracks in the walls and ceilings. “The Duke had recently died, so there was a new one, and there was all this change going on within the family, and the architecture related to that as well,...

The Gentlemen features Ray Winstone as a barbeque-devouring drug lord, and the Guy Ritchie series has put in a meaty display with British audiences.
The crime drama premiered on March 7 with an audience of more than 3.5M, according to viewing figures made available by Barb, the UK’s audience research body.
The performance secured The Gentlemen 27th place in a list of the 50 most-watched TV shows in the UK during the seven days to March 10.
The highest-rated show of the week was Death In Paradise, which was watched by 7.3M on the BBC, according to the Barb figures.
The Gentlemen beat other notable Netflix launches in 2024, including One Day‘s audience of 1.7M in February and Millie Bobby Brown film Damsel, which was seen by 1.8M in its first week.
Starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, The Gentlemen could not, however, match Fool Me Once’s blockbuster debut of 6.3M viewers in January.

Stranger Things breakout Millie Bobby Brown is driving a sword through Netflix’s English Films List this week with her fantasy action flick Damsel, slaying the number one spot for the second week in a row! The Juan Carlos Fresnadillo-directed action-adventure film added 50.8M views to its coffers and was the most-watched title of the week. Damsel’s viewing total stands tall at 86.1M views in ten days, hitting the coveted #1 spot in 87 countries and reaching the Top 10 in 93.
Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan’s romantic comedy Irish Wish pranced into the #2 slot, with 30.6M views in its first three days of release. The action-thriller Code 8: Part II nabbed the #4 spot (3.6M views), while Johan Renck’s Spaceman, starring Adam Sandler and Carey Mulligan, floated into the #9 spot with 3.1M views. Spaceman’s performance is shocking, as Sandler typically owns the Netflix Top 10 whenever he drops a new film onto the streamer.

Guy Ritchie’s spin-off television series to his 2019 film The Gentlemen was launched on Netflix earlier this month, and even though all eyes have been on the lead actor, Theo James, there’s a guest star who has had quite a deep connection with video games in the now-distant past.

If you grew up in the '90s, there's no way you could have escaped the cultural impact of "X-Men: The Animated Series." Alongside fellow Fox Kids superhero shows "Batman: The Animated Series" and "Spider-Man," the X-Men's animated adventures represented a true high point for superhero animation at the close of the century. Of course, it helped that the mutant team came armed with one of the most undeniably cool theme songs of all time. But the show itself was, much like the aforementioned Batman and the Spidey cartoons, memorable for not treating kids like dummies and including some pretty mature storylines and themes. As such, "X-Men: The Animated Series" left an indelible mark on kids around the globe with its 1992-'97 run.

Pour a glass of top-shelf whiskey and put your fists up, because a brand-new Guy Ritchie gangster romp is coming to steal your attention.
Premiering on March 7, The Gentlemenintroduces television audiences to a new slice of the world initially brought to life in Ritchie’s 2020 film of the same name. While the characters in the upcoming TV show will be totally different from the movie, The Gentlemen will have all the same bite — along with a bunch of fresh tricks up its well-tailored sleeve, as the new trailer above reveals.
The White Lotus star Theo James leads The Gentlemen as the Duke of Halstead, Eddie Horniman, the estranged son of an English aristocrat who finds himself embroiled in a world of criminality — specifically career criminal Bobby Glass’ (Ray Winstone) industrial cannabis empire on the East End of London. Almost four years after Marc Helwig joined Miramax as Head Of Worldwide Television, he walked the London red carpet Tuesday for the global premiere of the company’s Guy Ritchie series for Netflix, The Gentlemen, alongside celebrity guests like David Beckham and Jason Statham.
The Gentlemen is a “pandemic series.” In 2020, after he took over Miramax TV, Ritchie’s The Gentlemen movie was on Helwig’s mind, literally. A billboard for the Miramax film had been put up on his street corner in late 2019 and stayed there until 2022, with Helwig passing by it daily.
“It started in the very early days of the pandemic when I first joined Miramax and found myself on these Zooms with Guy Ritchie and his producing partner Ivan Atkinson,” he said about the show’s origins. “The film had turned into a little bit of a cult success after its release; the movie was one...

Remember Guy Ritchie's "The Gentlemen"? They're back — in Netflix form. Ritchie has taken his 2019 crime comedy and turned it into a Netflix series, which is now streaming. But just how connected is the show to the movie? Is it the same story now turned into a TV show? Are the same characters back, played by new actors? Just what the heck is the deal here? Don't worry, it's not that complicated.
In Ritchie's "The Gentlemen" movie, which we called "stylish but empty" in our review, Matthew McConaughey plays Mickey Pearson, a wealthy American crook with a cannabis empire in the UK. Here's the official synopsis:
Mickey Pearson is an American expatriate who became rich by building a highly profitable marijuana empire in London. When word gets out that he's looking to cash out of the business, it soon triggers an array of plots and schemes -- including bribery and...

The Gentlemen is the latest entry into Guy Ritchie‘s chaotic and hilarious world of crime. The Netflix series is created by Ritchie himself and it is set in the world of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name. It follows the story of Eddie Horniman, who unexpectedly inherits the title of Duke and his father’s whole estate. Still, he is more surprised as what he doesn’t know is that his father was in cahoots with criminals, who were growing cannabis on their estate. Eddie decides that he wants to rid his family estate of all the weed plants and criminals, but before he can do that he might have to do some criminal things himself first. The Gentlemen stars Theo James in the lead roles with Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Vinnie Jones, Ruby Sear, Joely Richardson, Giancarlo Esposito, Alexis Rodney, and Harry Goodwins starring in supporting roles.

Guy Ritchie’s spinoff of his quintessential British crime drama of the same name finally comes to a finale in episode 8. I had hoped to see some resemblance in the characters in the series, but I can’t say that I am disappointed at all. One can’t deny that the characters in The Gentlemen are a treat to watch. About Theo James, I never thought of him as that significant an actor, but now I feel he might even pull off a decent James Bond. The plotline at least for a few episodes does feel like a spinoff about the everyday adventures of Eddie and Susie, yet it wraps up pretty intensely towards the end and packs a punch in The Gentlemen finale.
Spoilers Ahead
The Story So Far
Edward Horniman, a captain of the Queen’s Dragoon, finds himself to be the heir of his father’s inheritance.
