- Rick Martin was born on July 26, 1951 in Verdun, Québec, Canada. He died on March 13, 2011 in Clarence, New York, USA.
- 5th overall pick in the 1971 NHL draft by the Buffalo Sabres. He, Gilbert Perreault, and René Robert made up the team's so-called "French Connection" line in the 1970s. In June 1982, Martin sued the Sabres, contending that he received improper treatment for an injured knee which forced him into an early retirement.

- Scored a then-NHL rookie record 44 goals in 1972.
