Elton John is going out with a bang.
The musician played his last U.K. gig at Glastonbury Festival on Sunday night, with the show being watched on BBC One by the biggest ever overnight audience for a Glasto performance, the broadcaster confirmed.
According to Variety, the 76-year-old had a peak overnight audience of 7.6 million and an average of 7.3 million with a 48.9 percent share.
That wasn’t the only BBC viewing record broken over the weekend, with a whopping 21.6 million people — 7 percent more than last year across linear TV — watching artists perform to 200,000 festival-goers having the time of their lives on Worthy Farm.
A record amount of people tuned in to watch the Artic Monkeys’ headlining set on Friday night, with the band nabbing a peak audience of 2.6 million and an average of 1.5 million.

Senior BBC management has been accused of fostering a “toxic culture” from the “Dg-down” in a letter criticizing the closure of its 99-year-old choir.
The co-directors of BBC Singers, the BBC choir that’s facing the axe, made the claim in a letter to BBC Chair Richard Sharp.
The decision to close the near-century-old choir has been met with major opposition and is one of several crises currently engulfing the BBC. The BBC says it is in consultation with the Musician’s Union over the plan as an online petition criticizing it tops 100,000 signatures and another signed by 700 composers was sent to BBC Director General Tim Davie.
Among the damning claims levelled by BBC Singers Acting Co-Directors Jonathan Manners and Rob Johnston is that a “recurring narrative of toxic culture now exists at the BBC, reflected in the working environment from the Director General downwards.”

Long was also the first regular female host of the TV show Top of the Pops, and was one of the main presenters of the Live Aid charity concert in 1985.
BBC director general Tim Davie described her as a “stellar presenter” who was loved across the industry.
