A man is stuck in a car in the freezing Colorado mountains with no mobile signal – and violent intent brewing
If this UK-Canadian thriller has a wind-hardened snowcrust of malice, it’s somewhat less dense under the surface – though still an enjoyable punt from the digital-release ranks. Amiable but downtrodden waitress Ana (Nina Bergman) has her bacon saved by chance diner David (Allen Leech) when her abusive husband Vincent (Yan Tual) comes calling. Eerily calm in the face of having his dessert desecrated and a potential shanking, David drives off unharmed. But, redneck to the core, Vincent tailgates him; skidding into a snow drift, David is stuck in the Colorado Rockies in a -40C blizzard with, of course, no mobile reception.

Featuristic Films has unveiled an exclusive first look at the feature documentary “Afghanistan.” It follows filmmaker James Glancy, a former British Royal Marine Commando who was decorated in 2012 for his actions in combat, as he returns to Afghanistan with a small, handpicked team to help him answer the question that has haunted him over the past decade: Was it worth it?

She’s one of the hardest-working and underrated character actors in the UK, and Kate Dickie can now be seen in the brutal, yet stylistic thriller Knuckledust – and we had the pleasure of speaking to her via Zoom to celebrate the film’s VOD release. We discussed her character, the elusive nature of the film, and what it was like to work alongside leading star Moe Dunford. Talking of collaborations, we also look back over her time making The Witch and how it was to work with Anya Taylor-Joy in one of the actresses’s first major roles – and finally we look ahead, as the Scottish performer is working alongside Robert Eggers yet again, in his eagerly anticipated The Northman. Be sure to watch our interview with Kate Dickie in its entirety below:

Well now. This is a little bit of crazy go nuts. James Kermack’s indie actioner Knuckledust was picked up for North America by Samuel Goldwyn who plan to release the film on December 8th. The trailer debuted yesterday and we have a bit of a head start on the mass dispersal later this afternoon. Don't let the stellar example of photoshop skills in the poster poster fool you, this trailer has pretty much everything fans of action cinema are looking for. It's a kind of go for broke filmmaking looking to make a loud statement. Where most indie action films tend to fall short on quantity Knuckledust looks looks like it has more than its fair share of brawls and gunplay. Take a...

While horror movies and classical music aren’t complete strangers, it’s not like they know each other very well. Films like The Shining, Candyman and The Exorcist have used this style of music in their movies but not many have their storylines centered around classical music. This is exactly what The Sonata does.
After her father’s passing a young violinist discovers that her parent was involved in much more darker occurrences than the music he wrote. Finding his last ever piece of music, she is lead into a world she never knew existed.

Joe and Lizzie try to make it work in James Kermack’s debut feature, which is big on angst but shot through with undeniable energy
British writer-director James Kermack’s feature debut goes big on the angst of thirtysomething blokes and their eternal struggles issues with commitment and attaining self-knowledge, but it’s hard to hold a grudge against it given the energy of the direction and the charisma of its toothsome young stars. Matthew Stathers stars as the titular Joe, a professional children’s entertainer and hard-partying showboat who is determined to make it work with the lissom Ellie (Lizzie Philips), an aspiring dancer as quick on the quip as Joe himself. Although Gethin Anthony, Tom Bateman and a few other supports drift in and out of the story, the relationship between the two leads is the object of focus here as they go through the highs and lows of young love.
