Einar Baldvin was born in Reykjavik, Iceland.
In 2005 he moved to the United States to pursue a BFA degree in The Program of Experimental Animation at CalArts where he created two animated films 'Moon Into Blood' and 'Catatonic' .Einar graduated from CalArts in 2009.
In 2010 Einar lived Holland for three months after being invited a the artist in residence at Gallery MU in Eindhoven through The Pépinières Européennes pour Jeunes Artistes, a European program that sponsors young artists to work in other European countries than their own.
In 2011, Einar enrolled at The USC School of Cinematic Arts, John C. Hench Division of Animation and Digital arts as an MFA candidate. He graduated from there in 2014 His first film made at USC 'Baboon', an experimental hand drawn film has played around the world including at the Anncey and Ottawa International Animation Festivals and Slamdance.
Einar latest film is the 'The Pride of Strathmoor' an animated short set in the south of the United States in the 1920s. It premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in 2014 and won the 'best animated short' prize at Slamdance 2015.
