If there's one thing haunting the "Frasier" revival series, beyond the general complaint that only Kelsey Grammer returned from the original cast, it's the more specific complaint that Niles isn't in the show. The titular psychiatrist's similarly pompous yet lovable brother was essentially the other main character in the original sitcom, and his absence from the reboot has been conspicuous to say the least.
Fans will know the story about why Niles actor David Hyde Pierce didn't return for the "Frasier" revival. To put it simply, the man didn't seem all that interested in the project, claiming he didn't "miss" the characters and was otherwise busy with other ventures. After the Paramount+ streaming series was renewed for a second season, however, the actor's comments started to sound a little less negative, with Hyde Pierce revealing his one condition for returning to the role of Niles. It might be too early to say that the "Frasier" revival is getting better. But after season 2, episode 5 brought back one of the best recurring characters from the original series, and with Peri Gilpin's Roz Doyle confirmed as a recurring guest for this season, things are certainly looking up for the show.
Star Kelsey Grammer has done his best to carry the modern incarnation of "Frasier," but he's thus far been hampered by a supporting ensemble that, try as they might, were never going to live up to the original series' excellent cast. As more characters from that beloved '90s sitcom return to the revival, however, the show has started to feel a bit more like the "Frasier" of old we all miss. It's bittersweet to recognize that the 2024 "Frasier" is only really good when it's more obviously pandering to our collective nostalgia, but that is, for better or worse,...

By the end of the "Frasier" revival's first season, I was convinced that the new series should have been a one-off special. The series opener was a touching return to the world of Kelsey Grammer's Dr. Crane, featuring a moving tribute to the late Martin actor John Mahoney and some half-decent writing from new showrunners Chris Harris and Joe Cristali — the latter of whom is a self-confessed "Frasier" superfan who used to run a "Frasier For Hire" Twitter feed containing the writer's ideas for jokes that could have been used on the original sitcom.
The season finale, too, stacked up quite nicely against "Frasier" episodes past, bringing back the titular psychiatrist's former producer Roz (Peri Gilpin) for a cameo appearance that surely had fans of the original series tearing up. But between these two standout episodes, the "Frasier" revival's first season was a whole load of mediocre. New characters...

Frasier, one of our favorite sitcoms here at Show Snob returns on Thursday, Sept. 19, only on Paramount+ and we’re super excited to start watching! If you’re on the same page as us, we’re here to help with the Frasier season 2 episode release schedule (and more) so you don’t miss out!
I know we have done our fair share of complaining about reboots and remakes, the world of entertainment is full of these. However, we’d be lying if we said we haven’t enjoyed a few of these shows. That said, Frasier is one of the shows we’re glad was brought back. The original series ran from 1993 to 2004, so it has now been about 20 years since the series concluded.

Whenever a beloved show like “Frasier” is revived, it’s easy to anticipate skepticism from the original iteration’s diehard fans, given the challenges of living up to its predecessor with new characters and storylines.
But with the first installment of the Paramount+ series under their belts — and the show set to return for Season 2 this week — co-showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris told TheWrap they’re feeling less pressured and more excited for an “even more fun” and “sometimes convoluted” new set of stories.
“The first season was really about catching us up with Frasier, where he is in life, and establishing the world and introducing these characters to everyone,” Harris explained. ‘In Season 2, we’ve had a lot more fun playing with these characters and showing their interactions with each other. It’s really just deepening the world and a couple things that we held back on in the first season.

“We’ve done some smooching,” Kelsey Grammer says (but remains coy) when TV Insider brings up a photo of his character (Frasier Cane) and Peri Gilpin‘s (Roz) that has been released for Frasier Season 2. (See it below.) Executive producer Joe Cristalli, too, dodges the question about the two friends who do have a history. “It definitely looks like they’re kissing for sure, 100 percent looks like they’re kissing, and Freddy [Jack Cutmore-Scott] and Eve [Jess Salgueiro] do look shocked to see what they think looks like them kissing,” he says. Executive producer Chris Harris agrees, “It does look like they’re kissing a lot. There’s something going on.” But looking at that relationship in general this season, “One of the wonderful things about getting to work with Peri and Kelsey is their relationship in some way reflects the relationship of their characters,” adds Harris. “These are old...

Plot: Frasier Crane is in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships and—with hope— finally fulfill an old dream or two. The sophomore season will see Dr. Frasier Crane return to his radio roots at Kacl in a Seattle-themed episode. The series is filmed in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.
Review: While many of you may feel that Frasier is too old school, we love the series here at JoBlo.com. The sitcom Frasier, starring Kelsey Grammer in the titular role, was a critical, ratings and awards success during its run from 1993 through 2004. It continued to pick up new fans when it was syndicated, and later when it became a fixture on streaming platforms. When any property becomes an across-the-board hit like this one, there’s going to be talk of reviving it in some form, even if most series regulars have declined to reprise their roles and one of them has died. Thus did a new season of a new Frasier reach Paramount+ subscribers last fall.
Even positive reviews were notably qualified. Liz Shannon Miller wrote that “it feels like something’s missing” and cited a lack of “purpose”; Laura Bradley complained that Nicholas Lyndhurst’s Alan (supposedly a lifelong friend of Frasier’s despite our never having heard of him before this era of Frasier’s story) is “one-note.

Let me clarify: I am a massive fan of the original Frasier and the character that originated on Cheers. The first season is a classic, generally regarded as one of the funniest sitcoms of all. The writing was an embarrassment of riches. Intelligent, witty, clever, and full of heart.
The revival was announced, and my fear of a money grab was initially evident. The series spent too much time trying to recreate the magic by constantly throwing a haymaker joke at the wall. Then, the obnoxious laugh track did not help matters.
Everything becomes contrived, trying to recreate the magic from years past and refusing to view the legendary character through a new lens. However, the series slowly regained its form after a handful of episodes. There were fitfully funny and thoughtful moments, just like we remembered.

We’re less than a month away from Frasier‘s return, which will premiere with two episodes on Thursday, September 19.
New episodes will then drop weekly exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia.

For most fans of "The Boys," the moment that got them on board was that early scene in the pilot, the one where Hughie's lovely girlfriend Robin (Jess Salgueiro) suddenly explodes when A-Train accidentally runs into ... err ... through her. It's a moment that made clear that this is a show with few limits, where seemingly anyone can die at any moment, often in the goriest way possible.
For showrunner Eric Kripke, however, the moment that solidified the series for him came in the fourth episode, "The Female of the Species." That's the episode where Homelander and Maeve rescue a passenger plane that's been hijacked by terrorists, only for Homelander's eye lasers to accidentally destroy the cockpit and guarantee the plane will crash. If Superman was here, he would've found some way to stop the plane; Homelander doesn't even try.

Spoilers for "The Boys" season 4 follow.
Homelander (Antony Starr) is the face of evil supes on "The Boys," but this bloody journey started with Reggie Franklin, a.k.a A-Train (Jessie T. Usher). The Seven is an overt parody of the Justice League, and A-Train is a proxy for The Flash, a "speedster" who can run faster than time itself.
Episode 1 of "The Boys" — "The Name of the Game" — shows how dangerous that power would be. A-Train, running through the streets of Manhattan, collides with Robin (Jess Salgueiro) and reduces her to a mist of blood and gore. Her grieving boyfriend, Hughie (Jack Quaid), signs up with Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) anti-supe crusade because of A-Train's actions and the paltry recompense (including a phoned-in "apology") he offers.
Since then, though, A-Train has become one of the more humanized supes on the show. He's definitely not as good as Starlight...

Exclusive: Patricia Heaton is returning to television — and to filming in front of a live studio audience — with a guest-starring arc in the second season of Paramount+ Frasier.
On the followup to the Emmy-winning comedy, she will play Holly who is down-to-earth, unpretentious, and openly mocking of overly-intellectual types. A Boston native who tends bar at upscale restaurants and events, Holly is extraordinarily comfortable with both who and where she is in life, a quality that the always-climbing, always-reaching Frasier (Grammer) finds as alien as he does attractive.
This marks a reunion for sitcom royalty Heaton and Grammer, who headlined the 2007 Fox multi-camera comedy Back to You, created by Modern Family‘s Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd. Grammer subsequently guest starred on Heaton’s CBS show Carol’s Second Act; with the Emmy-winning stars playing exes both times.

Exclusive: Another Grammer will appear in the Paramount+ series Frasier next season.
Greer Grammer will guest star on the series as Roz Doyle’s (Peri Gilpin) daughter Alice all grown up. Now in her late twenties, friendly, outgoing Alice has inherited more than some of her mother’s free-spirited ways. Having just moved to Providence to study architecture, Alice is eager to catch up with Frasier’s son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott)—and complicate whatever romantic plans he may have.
Gilpin appeared in one episode of the new Frasier last season and was previously announced to be returning for Season 2 in a recurring capacity. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles at Paramount Studios.
The series follows Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships and – with hope – finally fulfill an old dream or two.
