The X Factor knows how to create drama. From the blast of 'O Fortuna' as Simon Cowell and his buddies enter the stage, to former voiceover man Peter Dickson hamming it up, they've got the atmosphere nailed.
One of the most exciting elements of the show will always be the big Sunday night eliminations, especially if the dreaded Deadlock comes into play. Most of the time, the judges get it right, but sometimes there are downright shocks. Here are the biggest to date, brought to you in association with TalkTalk's new Bopheads app:
1. Laura White (series 5)
Wigan lass Laura was tipped for X Factor success in 2008's early stages, but found herself in a tough girls group with the public's favourite indie fairy Diana Vickers and future victor Alexandra Burke. Even so, no-one expected her to leave as early as the fifth week, especially with Ricky Gervais lookalike Daniel Evans still knocking around.

Former X Factor singer Lucie Jones will appear in this week's Midsomer Murders.
The Welsh model stars in the ITV drama on Wednesday (February 11) as Melody Carver, whose late uncle's song appears to be inspiring a spate of killings.
Folk singer Seth Lakeman will also appear in the episode 'The Ballad of Midsomer County', for which he has provided a brand new song of the same name.
Jones said: "I have acted on stage but I've never been given the opportunity to do TV acting before so I didn't expect to get anything from the audition. I was very nervous so when I got the job it was amazing.
"On the first day of filming I was absolutely terrified but the director Renny Rye was my rock. He was so patient with me, offering quiet advice when needed and giving me a boost when things were tough

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has admitted that he would love to take over from Simon Cowell on The X Factor someday.
The British hunk told Now magazine that if he did sit on the judging panel, he definitely wouldn’t be ‘one of the nice guys.’ He said:
‘It would be one of the best things ever to get paid for handing out Simon Cowell-style insults for the day.
‘I wouldn’t want to be one of the nice guys, I’d want to be like Simon – otherwise it’s no fun.’

Cheryl Cole is said to be a nervous wreck since leaving Derek Hough behind in La and sources say that Simon Cowell is not being the most sympathetic pal.
Cheryl left Derek when she returned to the UK earlier this week, so that she could record the judges houses stage of The X Factor. Newspapers had reported that the ’3 Words’ singer dumped her dancing boyfriend before leaving America, but pals deny this and say that if anything, Cheryl is more dependent on Derek than ever before.
A pal told Now magazine:
“Cheryl’s in a real panic. She’s been joined at the hip to Derek since shortly after she split from Ashley.”
“Now she’s worried what she’ll do without her ‘rock’. She’s been having panic attacks at the thought of them being apart for so long.”

X Factor judge Cheryl Cole is reportedly planning to buy a new home in London, in the same neighbourhood as her boss Simon Cowell.
Cheryl filed for divorce from her husband Ashley Cole this week and has reportedly allowed him to keep their £6 million Surrey mansion. Sources now suggest that Cheryl has been scouting for a new house in London’s Holland Park, where properties start at around £650,000.
A friend told The Daily Star: “There’s too many painful memories in their home and, although it’s a stunning house, Cheryl thinks it’s best to move on.
“She had her management team scouting round for houses in Holland Park while she was on tour with the Black Eyed Peas.
“She said she wants to move there because it’s pretty central to London for work and she’ll be near Simon.

Simon Cowell has reportedly told Cheryl Cole to stop ‘gallivanting’ around Europe and get ready for the X Factor return.
The show boss is said to be concerned that Cheryl is working too hard on her music career and worries that she won’t be able to give him 100% of her focus when she returns to the panel next month.

The X Factor judge flew from La to Paris yesterday and will visit five countries in as many days as she promotes her album ‘3 Words.’
Cole told The Sun: “I travel the whole world and hardly have any time for myself. Secretly I don’t mind this at all, because I hate being on my own.
“I just want to stay busy and keep the energy flowing. I fear I’d go brain-dead if I don’t, so I just have to keep busy – even if it means I have to talk to myself.”
She added: “I get bored to tears. After two weeks off at Christmas I went mental. In the end I had to book a holiday and went to the beach with my mum.”

It’s no secret that I’ve been disappointed by this year’s X Factor. And I’ve been impressed by the Facebook campaign to put Rage Against The Machine at the top of the charts this Christmas instead of yet another bland ‘winner’s song’ from X Factor.
The message today is go out and buy the Rage Against The Machine single. Now. And here’s why:
The X Factor winner doesn’t have a God-given right to the Christmas #1. In fact, it’s easier for them because they’ve been on your TV and in the news for months. X Factor may be great TV, but it doesn’t encourage people to go out and write their own tunes. Support a legendary band by buying a song they wrote. If you agree with me that the talent on X Factor was rubbish this year – it’s a great...

Cheryl Cole has offered some consolation to The X Factor finalists who have been cut down by Simon Cowell, as she claims that the music mogul is often rude to her too!
The ‘3 Words’ singer joked that Simon secretly fancies her but tries to hide it by being ignorant.
She told The Daily Star:
“Simon is really not going the right way about it!
“He called me up after he’d watched the show back and said: ‘I’m just calling you because I’ve just watched your Vt and I don’t know what you were wearing but you looked terrible and your personality was like a snail.’ It’s not just contestants. He’s rude to me!”
But Cheryl added: “He’s a great guy. As much as it gets tense on the show and he can be really annoying, he’s kind and truthful and I really respect him.

Simon Cowell’s best pal Sinitta has been offering her opinions on the remaining X Factor finalists and explains why she thinks it’s such a close competition this year.
Speaking to BBC Berkshire Sinitta said:
“It’s so close. This year I’ve been really confused about what’s going on and what the public want. I think Olly is amazing, a good all-rounder. I think he really is a proper pop star.
“I can see the appeal in Stacey, all she has to do is walk on stage and talk and you want to pick up your phone and start voting for her.”
“And then little Joe, he is the Disney child, you can see him singing all the Disney soundtracks and on the west end.
On the winners single, which is rumoured to be Miley Cyrus’ ‘The Climb’, Sinitta said:
“They all sound great on it,” Sinitta said.

X Factor twins John and Edward Grimes are reportedly being frozen out by the other contestants from the show. After the departure of talented singers like Lucie Jones and Jamie Archer, the acts are beginning to take their frustration out on Jedward.
An insider told The Daily Star Sunday: “The boys are really starting to feel like everyone hates them.
“They have been Public Enemy No.1 for weeks but the house was always their safe haven. But now they are also feeling the brunt there too.
“It seems the remaining finalists are starting to get fed-up with the twins surviving each week while more talented singers get the boot.
“Basically, nobody in the house is talking to them at the moment. Danyl won’t even stay in the same room as them and Olly and Stacey tend to steer clear as well.

Dannii Minogue has said that it would be a “disaster” if John & Edward Grimes won The X Factor.
Dannii lost her second act, Lucie Jones last week, after Simon Cowell voted to save Jedward.
Minogue told The Mirror: “It would be a disaster for The X Factor and Simon Cowell if Jedward won.
“Simon has to give a £1 million recording contract to the winner. How can he give it to John & Edward when they’re not singers?”
She added: “They’re entertainers. I wouldn’t quit if they won but it would make me question the show’s validity. I worry what would happen.
“After Leona Lewis won, the programme turned a corner and became a genuine singing contest, discovering genuine talent.
“If the twins were to win then I would worry that it would go back to the old days, and not be about discovering an amazing act. And that would be sad.
