By the time Aaron Hernandez (Josh Rivera) points the gun at Odin Lloyd (J. Alex Brinson) in the eighth chapter of FX’s American Sports Story, we have been made to understand exactly how he got here. What might have seemed like a shocking act out of the blue in 2013, when the NFL superstar was first arrested for killing his friend, feels, after seven episodes of painstaking backstory, like the culmination of a perfect storm of unfortunate circumstances and worse choices. It’s no less horrifying, and no more justifiable. But it is more explicable.
What remains unclear, however, is precisely why we’re reliving all of this in the first place. The Ryan Murphy-produced American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez — planned as the first season in an ongoing anthology à la American Crime Story or American Horror Story — is well-cast, carefully researched, and scrupulous in avoiding the temptation...

Undoubtedly, All Rise Season 3 Episode 12 is the best episode of the season so far and is one of the series' best.
The organ trafficking case allowed the two strongest female lawyers to face off and work together to catch the most significant criminal.
With "Guilt is a Bully, " many of our favorites realize that guilt is holding them back in their relationships, and the series highlights friends and couples having fun. Was nothing more yummy than seeing Wilson Bethel and J. Alex Brinson shirtless?
Organ trafficking cases are challenging to watch since there are no winners. I've watched similar cases on Law & Order: Svu and my heart went to Damien Davis and Gabriel Salas.
Amy's client, Damien, only had six months to live and was 250th on the transplant list, so he purchased the kidney. He never intended the traffickers to attack Gabriel violently when they removed the kidney.

The final episodes are almost here. All Rise Season 4 premieres on Saturday, September 16, and they're bringing the drama.
OWN TV dropped the official season trailer, which teases loss, romance, returns, and riveting cases.
It’s hard to believe this is the end since we’ve grown to love these characters, but hopefully, OWN had enough time to craft a proper goodbye.
At the end of All Rise Season 3 Episode 10, Brandon Nation had caused senseless violence and possibly killed Ness and Teddy.
We’re still unsure if one or both of them die, but Lola is on the warpath to prevent more violence.
Lola’s marriage was also in jeopardy since Andre took advantage of her fear and kissed her, and Robin walked in at that moment.
Can she and Robin work things out and learn to communicate their needs better?
The other couples are finally flourishing. Luke and Emily finally...

We have unfortunate but expected news about OWN's thrilling courtroom drama All Rise.
The series has been canceled after three seasons.
Truthfully, the writing had been on the wall for some time.
All Rise Season 3 Episode 10 aired a year ago, and the series has been on hiatus ever since -- never a good sign for any series.
In March, Deadline reported that the entire cast had been released, meaning that new deals would have to be reached if negotiations got underway for a fourth season.
As a result, the series has faced an uphill battle since its move to the cable network after CBS swung the axe following All Rise Season 2.
The only silver lining here is that we still have ten episodes of All Rise left to air.
They will begin airing on Saturday, September 16, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.

Judge Lola Carmichael and her team of attorneys have kept us entertained with their fight for justice and their own drama for almost three seasons.
Unfortunately, the long wait for the second half of All Rise Season 3 is killing the momentum. It hasn't aired in a year, and its future beyond the filmed episodes is up in the air.
The show will be back on the air at some point, though, and we've rounded up everything there is to know about what could be the final-ever episodes.
All Rise Season 3 Episode 10 ended bittersweetly since two lives hung in the balance due to Brandon Nation.
While couples reuniting during a tragedy is overdone, seeing Luke rush to save Emily and Maddy from Leo and the two finally admit their feelings were long overdue.
It was such an emotional scene, but viewers want happier times instant of continuous angst for Luke and Emily.

The fate of All Rise is, once again, up in the air.
Deadline reported Thursday that Warner Bros. Television has released the cast of the legal drama.
OWN, which picked up the show from CBS after the network canceled it after two seasons, has yet to schedule the second half of All Rise Season 3.
The show has been off the air since early August, so the lack of updates on when the rest of the season would air has been a major cause for concern.
Deadline notes that OWN will not make an official decision on a pickup for a potential fourth season until the next batch of episodes air.
The outlet believes the episodes will see the light of day later this year.
However, there's a good chance the cast will have moved on to new projects, meaning that assembling everyone again for a potential All Rise Season 4 will be a difficult task.

Exclusive: Once again, All Rise is facing a possible cancellation. The cast of the courtroom drama series, led by Simone Missick, has been released by producing studio Warner Bros. Television.
OWN gave All Rise a second lease on life, picking up the series for a 20-episode Season 3 in 2021 following its cancellation by CBS after two seasons. The new season, which has been completed, was slated to run in two 10-episode batches, with the first half airing last summer and the second one set to air later this year.
All Rise was not able to bring in broadcast-size audience to OWN but Season 3A did Ok by cable standards. With the cast options coming up and Season 3B yet to be scheduled, I hear the studio notified the actors that their options are not getting picked up. OWN is expected to make a decision on the show’s future after the episodes air.

It's been a long wait for All Rise, but the former CBS drama makes its grand return to the air Tuesday, June 7, at 8/7c.
As previously reported, the new season will bow on OWN, just over a year after CBS canceled it.
The freshly released trailer highlights there will be a lot of twists and turns on All Rise Season 3.
“This election exposed your vulnerabilities,” attorney Corrine Cuthbert (guest star Anne Heche) tells Lola.
"This little war of ours is far from over," she declares.

Exclusive: CBS’ All Rise may be resurrected. OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network is in talks for a new season of the legal drama starring Simone Missick, I have learned.
The negotiations between the cable network and lead All Rise studio Warner Bros. TV come three months after the series was canceled by CBS in May and OWN parent Discovery days later announced its plans to merge with Warner Bros. TV parent, AT&T-owned WarnerMedia. Sources close to the situation caution that the conversations, while progressing, are complex and have not reached the final stage yet. Reps for OWN and Wbtv declined comment.
Options on the All Rise cast expired at the end of June. In anticipation of a potential pickup — which I hear could be for as many as 20 episodes — Warner Bros. TV has entered negotiations with lead Missick and also has approached other cast members, including Wilson Bethel,...

Last season, All Rise was one of CBS' lowest-rated scripted series but it was renewed for a second year anyway. Will more viewers find the show this time around? Will All Rise be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.
All Rise stars Simone Missick, Wilson Bethel, Marg Helgenberger, Jessica Camacho, J. Alex Brinson, Lindsay Mendez, Ruthie Ann Miles, Lindsay Gort, and Audrey Corsa. The series follows the chaotic, hopeful (and sometimes absurd) world of those who work at a courthouse in Los Angeles. At the center of this drama series is Lola Carmichael (Missick), a recently appointed judge who was previously a highly regarded and impressive deputy district attorney. She depends on the counsel of people like her Deputy District Attorney Mark Callan (Bethel), Supervisory Judge Lisa Benner (Helgenberger), and pragmatic judicial assistant Sherri...

CBS is cutting a pair of sophomore series.
The network has confirmed All Rise and The Unicorn have been canceled after two seasons.
The Simone Missick-fronted All Rise has averaged 4 million viewers and a 0.45 rating in the demo this season.
It dropped 27% from its freshman run but managed to stay relatively steady throughout the season.
All Rise focused on the cases and personal lives of judges, prosecutors, and public defenders in a Los Angeles courthouse.
Missick played Lola Carmichael, while Wilson Bethel played her best friend, Deputy District Attorney Mark Callan.
The cast also included Marg Helgenberger as Judge Lisa Benner, Jessica Camacho as public defender Emily Lopez, J. Alex Brinson as Luke Watkins, Lindsay Mendez as court reporter Sara Castillo, and Ruthie Ann Miles as Lola’s assistant Sherri Kansky.
The series has been plagued with issues behind the scenes throughout its entire run, with creator Greg Spottiswood recently getting fired.

This court won't be back in session during the 2021-22 television season. CBS has cancelled the All Rise legal drama series so we won't be seeing a third season.

All Rise will not be returning to CBS for a third season.
CBS has canceled the Simone Missick-fronted legal drama. It comes after a number of behind issues on the show including the departure of creator and showrunner Greg Spottiswood.
It is one of two cancelations announced by the Eye today after The Unicorn was also axed. It follows a busy 24 hours for the network, ahead of its upfronts next week, which saw it plan to move Seal Team and Clarice to Paramount+ for its upcoming seasons, pick up Sophia Bush pilot Good Sam and Pete Holmes comedy Smallwood to series and pass on pilots Ways & Means starring Patrick Dempsey, the Sarah Cooper/Cindy Chupack comedy and Welcome to Georgia.
