On the latest episode of "Shark Wranglers" (Sun., 10 p.m. Et on History) the Ocearch crew were tagging a Great White shark on deck when something went wrong.
When they're rolled onto their back sharks enter a state of paralysis known as tonic immobility, but normally recover after about 15 minutes.
However, this shark was not recovering, so crew member Ryan Johnson began the established recovery measures.
"If the shark doesn’t swim," he said, "we can at least lash it to the side of the boat and can swim it manually."
So, after Brett McBride placed a barbless hook in the shark's mouth that's what they did. The crew towed the shark alongside the boat to get water flowing through its gills and wake it up.
Finally, after about an hour-and-a-half, the shark recovered, bringing the crew to tears.
The aquatic dramas continue on "Shark Wranglers," Sundays at 10 p.m.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Johnson talk Looper at WonderCon. WonderCon 2012 may be small compared to the San Diego Comic-Con craziness we get to experience on a yearly basis, still that doesn't stop some great releases finding their way into the fest. In TriStar Pictures' Looper, a killer who works for the mob of the future recognizes one of his targets as his future self. The mostly well-known cast includes Bruce Willis, Piper Perabo, Jeff Daniels, Paul Dano, Garret Dillahunt and Tracie Thoms. When USA renewed "Fairly Legal" for a second season, they replaced showrunner Michael Sardo with Peter Ocko and decided to make some "creative changes," which entailed focusing more on the core characters than the mediation of the week, making it more of a character study than a legal procedural.
In the Season 2 premiere, it's hard to say whether those changes were readily apparent. On the one hand, there were some wonderful story arcs introduced that will play out all season - Reed & Reed being in trouble financially and bringing in a new partner, Justin deciding to challenge his current (awful) boss for the District Attorney's job, Justin's infidelity confession.
However, a large portion of the episode was still dominated by the case of the week, with Kate playing Nancy Drew instead of mediating. We're not criticizing - it was an interesting case and any time Michael Hogan gets punched by John Aylward,...

I've given USA Network a little bit of grief for sticking so closely to its formulas the past. But when it comes to "Fairly Legal" (Friday, 9 p.m. Et), I have to admit, I wish the show followed the network's mandates a little more closely.
I watch "Psych" not because the show is reinventing the procedural detective genre, but because I enjoy Gus and Shawn's co-dependent silliness. I watch "Burn Notice" because I want to see Fiona, Michael and Sam defeat bad guys as a team, and because I enjoy seeing how those core relationships evolve. The best thing about "White Collar" is not just its style and intelligence, but the way that the show keeps adding nuances and tension to the complicated bond between its law-enforcement guy and its slick con man. All those shows have entertaining supporting characters, but the main draws with USA programs are not just the sparky pace and tone,...

Friday nights just got a lot brighter entertainment wise with the return of Fairly Legal and In Plain Sight on the USA Network. Legal is back for its second season while Sight is starting its fifth and final season. If Legal could evolve into a fully satisfactory series like Sight then there would definitely be double trouble on Friday nights.
Legal got off to a rough start last year. Sarah Shahi, who plays mediator Kate Reed, never really fulfilled her promise in the role. She was too cute, too quirky, too full of herself. Plus the role was written so that she dominated the series and rolled over all the members of the supporting cast which included Virginia Williams, Michael Trucco and Baron Vaughn.
The basis of the show is that Kate's father has died, leaving the law firm he established to Kate, her brother and his fairly new wife...

Chicago – Two of USA’s hits return tonight with the second-season premiere of “Fairly Legal” and the fifth-and-final-season premiere of “In Plain Sight.” Both shows work largely because of the talent brought to them by their lead actresses, a welcome change of pace for a network that can often feel a little bit testosterone-heavy (“Psych,” “White Collar,” “Burn Notice” — all driven by their male protagonists). Sadly, the writing could still use some work on both dramas but no one can deny the charismatic skill of the women at their centers.
TV Rating: 3.0/5.0
There was a brief moment there in season two when I thought “In Plain Sight” might actually develop into USA’s best post-“Monk” show. That wasn’t meant to be. The show spun its wheels a few too many times dramatically and never found a way to play up to the strengths of its super-talented star, Mary McCormack.

Michael Trucco has already made it clear that Fairly Legal is about to get a fun shake up when it returns for its second season. Helping the USA Network series change things up when it returns on Friday, March 16?
Ryan Johnson, who debuts on the premiere as lawyer Ben Grogan.
Anyone knows that being the new guy on the block, especially within an already established group, isn't the easiest task. Fans can be skeptical of a new actor being thrown into the mix. Having seen the season two premiere during my set visit last month, though, I can assure viewers that this is one likable new character.
Within minutes of making an appearance, Grogan is both flirting and verbally sparring with Sarah Shahi's Kate Reed.

Changes are coming to Fairly Legal. That much was obvious after I visited the show on location in Vancouver last month.
After viewing the massively large and wonderfully spacious set of the Reed & Reed law offices (and, trust me, the detail goes all the way down to the sticky notes and legal pads placed on all the characters' desks), I had a chance to sit down for a casual conversation with the actors about what's in store for the second season.
Michael Trucco (Ada Justin Patrick), for instance, took a break from filming a pivotal court scene to chat about his excitement for his character's growth and movement away from not simply acting as "a singular entity for Kate’s purposes only."
Trucco admitted that the season's reshaping is a positive transition, as it focuses "less about the particulars of the mediations and of the cases that we’re doing...

Characters Welcome. It's the slogan USA has used to enormous success over the last few years and it applies perfectly to season two of Fairly Legal.
Having seen the March 16 premiere during a set visit to Vancouver late last month, I can safely say that the fantastically charming characters have returned, ready to take their personal stories to the next level and continue mediating in and out of the office.
Fairly Legal Season 2 Preview
The first season left legal mediator Kate Reed's (Sarah Shahi) personal and professional life in shambles, as this legal mind may have found success professionally, but her results with personal relationships didn't match the outcome she achieved for clients.
The re-burgeoning connection between Kate and her ex-husband, Justin Patrick (Michael Trucco), came to a crashing divide, leaving both disappointed and heartbroken, while Kate's stepmother and new owner of law offices Reed & Reed, Lauren Reed (Virginia Williams...

Ever since USA Network’s Fairly Legal added Aussie Ryan Johnson to the cast for Season 2 — as a “sharp trial attorney/potential romantic interest for Kate” — the question from fans has been: What does this mean for Kate and her semi-estranged husband Justin (played by Michael Trucco)?
What it means is “a lot of trouble,” series star Sarah Shahi told me at a recent NBC soiree. “Yeah… Justin’s not going to have some very happy times.”

Fairly Legal returns for its sophomore season on Friday, March 16 at 9 p.m. on USA Network and the often unpredictable -- and unorthodox -- mediator, played by Sarah Shahi, will have to work her way back up to the good graces of those around her. Meat Loaf will be on the menu when USA Network’s Fairly Legal serves up its sophomore run this spring, TVLine has learned.
The rocker-slash-actor, born Marvin Lee Aday, will guest-star in Episode 9 as Charlie DeKay, an old-school, blue-collar transportation union boss with a dirty mouth who wields an iron fist as he threatens to bring San Francisco to a halt in order to protect his workers. Enter Sarah Shahi’s Kate Reed, as your preternaturally telegenic mediator.
Meat Loaf’s previous TV credits include Celebrity Apprentice, Monk, House and a wink-wink cameo during Glee’s Rocky Horror Picture Show homage.

USA will pair up two of its female-led series on Friday nights starting in March when the second season of "Fairly Legal" and the fifth and final season of "In Plain Sight" make their debuts.
Both shows will premiere Friday, March 16, with "Fairly Legal" leading off at 9 p.m. Et and "In Plain Sight" following at 10. "Fairly Legal" will run for 13 episodes, but "Ips'" victory lap will last only eight weeks.
"In Plain Sight" will pick up more or less where it left off at the end of Season 4, with federal marshal Mary (Mary McCormack) trying to balance her job and new motherhood and Marshall (Frederick Weller) still both in a relationship with Abigail (Rachel Boston) and pining for his partner. USA also teases some sort of resolution to the mystery surrounding Mary's long-lost father before the series ends.

One series preparing to say goodbye, and another preparing for a major change, will anchor a new night of programming for USA this spring.
The network announced in a press release today that In Plain Sight will kick off its fifth and final season on Friday, March 16. It will be preceded by season two of Fairly Legal.
Among the questions USA says In Plain Sight will answer during its final 13-episode run: Can Mary balance motherhood with a demanding profession or will she put her baby up for adoption? Will Marshall finally be truthful about his feelings for Mary? What will come of Brandi and Peter? Where is Mary's father?
Fairly Legal, meanwhile, narrowly avoided cancellation after an up-and-down opening season.
Look for Australian actor Ryan Johnson to join the cast this year in the role of an ambulance-chasing lawyer who clashes with Sarah Shahi's Kate, while also serving as her new love interest.

Could this be the beginning of the end for "Fairly Legal"?
USA announced both the Sarah Shahi-headlined series and "In Plain Sight" will move to Friday nights for their upcoming new seasons, launching March 16, according to Variety.
"Fairly Legal" aired Thursdays in its first season, which kicked off in January 2011, while "In Plain Sight" had been a Sunday night staple. However, in August, it was announced that the Mary McCormack-starring show would get a fifth and final season, shortened from its usual 13 to eight episodes.
"Fairly Legal's" pick up for a second season was announced in May. Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that the sophomore series will have a new showrunner: "The Office" executive producer Peter Ocko. And that's not the only behind-the-scenes change for "Fairly Legal": In October, it was announced that Ryan Johnson would join the series as a regular, playing Ben Grogan, a...

Fans of USA Network’s Fairly Legal will be seeing a revamped show for Season 2, with a new cast regular to boot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Australian actor Ryan Johnson has joined the cast as an “up-and-coming trial attorney with the knack for making money.” As if Kate Reed (Sarah Shahi) is at a loss for slippery people in her life, Johnson character sounds like he’ll add more drama (and humor) to the mix. THR describes his character as ethically challenged, one that concerns himself with lining his pockets rather than choosing right over wrong. As Shahi mentioned to us in an interview, expect Season 2 to be different than the first. It sounds like the writers and producers are making an earnest effort to spice things up. Just how that plays out onto the screen remains to be seen.

Last year Keanu Reeves started talking about Man of Tai Chi, which would be his first feature project as a director. The martial arts film would be set in the present day, but is intended as an homage to classic kung-fu films. Now Mr. Reeves says he wants to play the villain in the film, which is gathering financing now. Speaking to MTV [1], he said, We want to do it in Chinese and English, do it as kind of a co-production with Cfg perhaps, which is a Chinese film group, kind of a studio. It's tricky. That's the sort of financing deal we might start seeing a lot of soon. It's how Ryan Johnson's Looper got made, and we've already started to hear about other films looking to use Chinese money to get off the ground. (Not the Red Dawn remake, though.) The Man of Tai Chi script is packed with action,...

But that’s not all, because we just learned that Mickey Rourke, Robert Duvall and Forest Whitaker are in negotiations to co-star in the whole thing and that’s what makes this project quite interesting.
Fanning would play girlfriend to Donowho and together they are teens on the run after stealing some jewelry that belonged to a local gangster.
Mickey Rourke is in talks to play the gangster and Forest Whitaker a rival gangster who is after Rourke’s character. Robert Duvall is also signing on in an unspecified role at the moment.

West Hollywood, California — My Chemical Romance threw a party on Monday night at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip to celebrate the release of their brand new album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, and the members of the MCRmy showed up in their Killjoy finest.
Both inside and out, the House of Blues was transformed into a DayGlo diaspora, part postapocalyptic fashion spectacle, part bizarre performance-art piece, as My Chem fans donned neon masks, brightly colored bandanas and a variety of blinking accessories (glasses, necklaces, bracelets, etc.), all in the name of Danger Days. They strolled through the "Zone 5 Carnival," scarfed down cotton candy,...
