- Carshenah W. Jefferson was born in Gainesville and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Carshenah found acting as her number one outlet to be her biggest blessing. Gifted in a variety of athletics, dancing, music, linguistics and computers, acting is her first love. She graduated with a double bachelors degree in Theatre and The Classics as well as a double minor degree in both Italian Studies and Computer Science from Florida State University all within three years. Her last college year was used to study abroad in Florence, Italy, which changed her view of performance theatre on a global stage.
Carshenah gained her Masters of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the University of Florida where she landed a principal role in a new play "Lavender Lizards and Lilac Landmines: Layla's Dream," written and directed at the University by Ntozake Shange for her thesis. She would then move on and branch out to the New York theatre circuit landing her first professional acting and modeling job for Mattel, Inc. as a Barbie Doll named Simone during their One Modern Circle campaign.
Carshenah was also blessed with a coveted acting job on Broadway with the New York touring company TheatreWorks USA for a dual role of Marion Carter and Jane for the show, "The Color of Justice." Carshenah landed this role on her first major audition out in New York. This was a play that brought to life the historical civil rights ruling of Brown vs. The Board of Education.

- Carshenah's first week arriving in Los Angeles, she landed a small part in the Lions Gate Film Akeelah and the Bee directed by Doug Atchison, produced by Sid Ganis and starred Laurence Fishburne, Angela Bassett, and Keke Palmer. Little did Carshenah know that when she went on a set break, she sat down and ate her lunch next to Sid Ganis who happened to be the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the time. Sid thought Carshenah was Keke's stand in for the movie, but she told him that she was just upgraded from background actor to a small part in the movie. He then asked for her head shot and resume, then gave Carshenah his personal card to call his offices to set up a meeting. Carshenah did so, but since she was in the process of moving to Los Angeles that same week, she lost his card. Carshenah still looks for that card to this very day.
