Cate Blanchett has signed on to star in Alpha Gang, the new comedy from David and Nathan Zellner, the sibling duo behind wacky Sundance entry Sasquatch Sunset.
The two-time Oscar winner is set to star as Alpha One, the leader of an alien gang sent on a mission to conquer Earth. She arrives disguised in human form together with her fellow extraterrestrials, posing as an armed and dangerous 1950’s leather-clad biker gang. But their ruthless plan is disrupted when the gang catches “the most toxic, contagious human disease of all: emotion.”
David and Nathan Zellner will direct Alpha Gang as well as produce. Blanchett and Coco Francini are also on board as producers, through their Dirty Films outfit. Other producers include Ryan Zacarias for Fat City, and Gina Gammell for Felix Culpa. The film is set to being shooting this fall.

Bigfoots or Sasquatches, these creatures that straddle the line between man and beast are a captivating blend of mystery and fascination. Picture cavemen of colossal stature, untouched by the need to shave their skin. That’s your typical bigfoot. These enigmatic beings have also found their way into the spotlight of cinema, becoming iconic movie stars in their own right.
While they may have fewer film representations than their arctic counterparts, the yeti, Bigfoot has left an indelible mark on Hollywood. Whether these creatures were scene stealers or the main attraction, the Sasquatch has carved a unique place in cinema history. Each character brings a distinct perspective to the mythos, from the terrifying and elusive family of beasts in the newly released Sasquatch Sunset to the misunderstood and gentle Mr. Link. They know how to bust a move, look for their own, and fly! Yes, fly.

Concert film Suga – Agust D Tour ‘D-Day’ The Movie from Trafalgar Releasing took in $990k for Saturday alone, rounding out the North American box office top ten — testament to the power of concert films post-Covid and the enduring popularity of the K-Pop powerhouse. The band is currently on hiatus as members entered military service required in South Korea. But Suga, the second oldest, got in one last solo concert in Seoul last year. It was released into theaters globally for two playdates on April 10 and April 13, for a cume of $2.2 million.
The film played at 723 locations Saturday in the U.S. ($910.3k) and 64 in Canada ($80.6k). (Total screens 787.)
The showtimes were limited, mostly to one 7 pm screening, although some theaters had more than one. Additional screenings continue at select locations through April 21.

In the past, many actors have gone to extreme lengths to play a character or prepare for a role they were offered to make the most of the opportunity. For Jesse Eisenberg, that length was going full monkey mode and playing the role of Sasquatch.
In fact, the initial release and clips from his film Sasquatch Sunset has turned the eyes of almost everyone to the project, who cannot wait to witness this film in theaters soon.
Jesse Eisenberg in a still from Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
But even when people are impressed with what the star has done in this surreal comedy film, it seems like a different species of audience member didn’t feel the same. In an interview, Eisenberg revealed that he once showed this film to a Bonobo monkey named Kanzi, who is considered the smartest ape, who had a very strong reaction to his character in the film.

Fantasy games are one of the most popular genres in the world of gaming, and soon they will include the upcoming horror title The Axis Unseen. Despite that fact, the majority of fantasy games are infested with RPG settings. Be it Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate, Elder Scrolls, or Dragon Age, it’s all about role-playing action.
This fantasy action-adventure title is not going to be like any other fantasy RPG. However, The Axis Unseen holds uncanny similarities with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but obviously has some unique aspects.
Is The Axis Unseen an RPG Title?
The Axis Unseen is not going to be your friendly neighborhood fantasy RPG.
The Axis Unseen is at its early stage of development right now, so there is no official confirmation yet when the game is going to be released.

The Austin-based filmmaking duo of David and Nathan Zellner have spent the last decade-plus upending genre conventions within the coming-of-age movie (2012’s Kid-Thing), the road movie, and the western (2018’s Damsel). With their latest feature, Sasquatch Sunset, the brother filmmakers have concocted a work that’s entirely sui generis. A film they billed ahead of its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival as “a year in the life of a singular family” is, in fact, a chronicle of four Bigfoot-like creatures roaming the forest without human interruption or intervention.
Sasquatch Sunset picks up a thread from the Zellner brothers’ 2011 short “Sasquatch Birth Journal 2,” which treats the American mythical figure as an unironic anthropological specimen. The feature takes their exploration even further as it tracks a mother and father (Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough), along with their two children (Christophe Zajac-Denek and Nathan Zellner), as they interact with the animal kingdom and natural world.

When David Boreanaz read for FBI agent Seeley Booth in the "Bones" pilot, he instantly thought of "Harry and the Hendersons." It's not hard to see why. The character's relationship with his then newfound partner, the forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel), readily evokes that between the open-hearted Bigfoot Harry and John Lithgow's uptight, disapproving patriarch George Henderson Jr. in William Dear's Oscar-winning 1987 fantasy comedy film. Much like Harry and George, however, Bones gradually opens up to Booth in spite of his shenanigans and even bids him a teary farewell when he rejoins his fellow federal investigators living in the wilderness.
Alright, alright, fine, Boreanaz actually thought of "Romancing the Stone." Even in the pilot, long before they became a romantic item, Booth and Bones' repartee recalled Robert Zemeckis' 1984 hit action-rom-com, itself a throwback to Golden Age Hollywood screwball comedy and action-adventure classics like "It Happened One Night" and "The African Queen,...

You know it’s tourist season in New York when a sasquatch roams through Central Park on the weekend and earthquakes barely interrupt a work day.
Nathan Zellner, the co-director of Sundance 2024 film “Sasquatch Sunset” (who also appears in the feature), donned his sasquatch costume to promote the feature ahead of its April 12 release date. Zellner transformed into a 6-foot-7-inch tall creature to stalk tourists and locals alike in Central Park near the American Museum of Natural History, as reported by The New York Times.
The suit weighs approximately 40 pounds, and Zellner paired it with platform shoes to increase his height. The costume is the same one used in the production that co-stars Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough. Zellner’s brother and co-director, David Zellner, wrote the entirely wordless feature that follows a family of sasquatch in the wilderness.

The history of cinema is littered with weird movies. For certain viewers these are special experiences, be it something for a very specific type of person to enjoy, or more of a challenge to be endured. It's difficult for me to say what camp "Sasquatch Sunset" falls into (that's probably for the individual to decide), but I can say with the utmost confidence that it is far and away the weirdest movie of 2024 thus far. If anything tops it before year's end, it's going to be an all-timer of an odd year at the movies. That much is certain.
Not to give the whole thing away here, as it's worth the experience for those who are game for something wildly offbeat, but we're talking about a movie with no human characters, lots of graphically gross moments, explicit Sasquatch sex, zero dialogue, and no subtitles to relay what is being communicated.

The beginning of Exists echoes those many other horror films set in the deep woods. Hapless folks encounter an unusual threat, likely after trespassing or offending the locals. And as this well-used formula commands, the characters then die in gruesome fashion. Eduardo Sánchez’s 2014 film is, admittedly, derivative of most body-count horrors with rural backdrops, yet it contains at least one novelty to set it apart: a Bigfoot. Hardly five minutes into this film and the young cast hits something on the road. As they assess the damage to their car and figure out what they struck, the characters get the sinking feeling that they are being watched from the nearby woods. Someone finally states the obvious: “That wasn’t no deer, bro.”
On average, found-footage horror films delay their strangeness in an effort to establish a semblance of normalcy. Make everything hypernormal and deliberately tedious so that the bizarre bits are more persuasive.

I have a confession to make: For much of my teenage years, I identified as what can only be described as a Sasquatch truther. I was radicalized by that infamous Zapruder-like footage of a supposed Bigfoot out for a casual stroll in 1967 and attempted to chase that high ever since. I loved watching all those goofball Discovery Channel specials where supposedly reputable people trekked into the forests of the Pacific Northwest, set up cameras in areas rumored to host a high number of Bigfoot sightings, knocked pieces of wood together to attract the big guy (or gal!), and just waited around for the urban legend to just, I don't know, show itself. The aughts were a strange and confusing time, folks.
All of that is to say that this movie we're about to talk about just might be the very definition of "Up my alley." After making waves during its...

In addition to new trailers for upcoming blockbusters like "Deadpool and Wolverine" and "Twisters," there were also some hilarious commercials with Ben Affleck forming a hip-hop group with Matt Damon for Dunkin and Arnold Schwarzenegger reuniting with his "Twins" co-star Danny DeVito for State Farm insurance. But none of those ads were the most watched on YouTube during Super Bowl Sunday.
You might be asking yourself, if everyone is watching the Super Bowl, how do you determine the most watched commercial? Well, according to Variety, this is based on YouTube's own viewing stats that it measured worldwide on gameday, starting February 11 from 12:00am Et until...

This article contains spoilers for "True Detective: Night Country."
"True Detective: Night Country" is a fantastic detective show, bringing a compelling mystery to a great location filled with interesting characters and then adding a healthy dose of body horror to boot.
Issa López not only crafts a good mystery with the horrific death of a group of scientists working in a remote Alaskan outpost, but the season also keeps audiences on the edge by constantly toying with the line between reality and the supernatural. Were the scientists killed by an eldritch monster? By an ancient parasite like in "Fortitude?" Was it a conspiracy by the mine workers?
The latest episode of the show poses a different alternative -- one that fits the episode's Christmas-y setting. In the episode, Christmas Eve turns out to be a rather bad holiday for the people of Ennis, Alaska. Everyone is miserable and having a bad time,...

“Sasquatch Sunset” is the kind of movie you need to see to believe.
Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough star in the absurdist comedy, which premiered on Friday at the Sundance Film Festival and follows a family of Yetis over the course of a year. The film, which has zero dialogue or narration but plenty of grunts, captures an immersive, “true” depiction of the daily life of the Sasquatch. That apparently involves sex, masturbation, vomiting, flatulence and plenty of other gory acts that aren’t fit to print.
A smattering of audience members appeared to be too squeamish about these quotidian experiences, shielding their eyes during bloody moments and stomping for the exit at the Eccles Theater well before the credits began to roll. Others delighted in the gastrointestinally graphic sequences. One scene, involving bodily fluids spouting out of every — and we mean every — orifice of the female Bigfoot, played to raucous applause in the room.

Following the guilty verdict in his assault trial on Monday, Jonathan Majors has been fired by Marvel Studios. And on social media, fans have a lot of thoughts about it.
It’s not only a spectacular career imposion for an actor who less than a year ago seemed headed for permanent stardom. It’s also a massive headache for Marvel and the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And that’s on top of the fact that Majors, who continues to deny any wrongdoing, was found guilty of assault and harrassment against his ex-girlfriend. He’ll be sentenced in February and has signalled plans to appeal.
About that latter point, Screenrant writer Alisha Grauso called the whole thing “a damn shame.”
I'm not sure I've seen a more promising talent tank their career harder and faster than Jonathan Majors. What a damn shame. For him, for the people who are working with him,...

Plot: Fearing a witch’s curse is going to make her turn into a werewolf, Lucy heads to an abandoned camp with her friend Karen to wait out the full moon. But lycanthropy may be the least of their problems.
Review: The horror comedy Shaky Shivers takes its title from a cold, sweet concoction created by ice cream shop worker Karen (VyVy Nguyen), but we never actually learn what ingredients she has put into this treat. The movie itself is quite a blend of sub-genres, featuring lycanthropy, zombies, a witch, cultists, a Trapper Keeper Necronomicon, a Bigfoot enthusiast… and maybe even an appearance by Bigfoot itself.
Karen works at the aforementioned ice cream shop with her pal Lucy (Brooke Markham), and when a witchy woodsy woman called Mama Nature (played by Erin Daniels of Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses) comes in after closing time, wielding an odd puppet and asking for food,...

Zahn McClarnon has justifiably garnered attention in recent years for his lead performance as Joe Leaphorn in AMC’s limited series Dark Winds. Leaphorn, a lieutenant in the Tribal Police in the Navajo Nation of Arizona, is suddenly besieged by a series of seemingly unrelated crimes within his community. As he gets closer to the truth of these cases, his own beliefs are challenged, bonds between colleagues are tested, and Joe has to dig up some painful memories from his own past.
Yet before McClarnon donned Joe’s badge and cowboy hat, he wore many other hats over his nearly 45 year career. The actor has a fairly prolific filmography as a voice over artist, he has played men on both sides of the law, and as you can imagine, as an actor of Lakota descent, has played his share of First Nations characters. Yet, when his more recent roles are carefully considered,...

This summer, Small Town Monsters lifts the veil on Alaska’s long and dark history of Sasquatch lore with their latest investigative documentary On the Trail of Bigfoot: Land of the Missing. Director Seth Breedlove, along with a team of experts and adventurers, invites audiences to explore the last frontier through a darker lens than ever before. On the Trail of Bigfoot: Land of the Missing is the follow up to this year’s Last Frontier, picking up on threads established in that film and carries them into a terrifying and bizarre conclusion to Breedlove and Small Town Monsters’ work in Alaska.
Amongst Alaska’s beautiful epic vistas and seemingly endless acres of wilderness lurks a dark secret. The secret, known by locals and hearty adventurers alike, revolves around the nearly constant disappearances that take place across “the land of the midnight sun”. These disappearances seem to have often-mundane explanations.

You have to cleanse your mind sometimes when you see some films. You get trapped in a seat for ninety-plus minutes as the cobwebs form in your brain at home as you watch. Your mind screams for the end credits to roll and when they do it’s with a perverse fascination with more attention than you gave the film to who made what you just saw. This was exactly the case the evening I partook of Director/Writer George Demick’s Taku-he: The Legend Of Bigfoot (2017).
This is ninety, count them ninety minutes of excruciating idiocy that can only be supplemented if one enjoys other things with a companion of choice or stops the film and walks around to the bar. After running for 3 years, the podcast wanted to find a novel way to advertise, and so far one listener has taken them up on the offer. Kyle Moist, of Fort St John decided that a space on his leg was prime real estate for the show's artwork.

The folks at Small Town Monsters know this and will continue their search for the hairy beasts. The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Night of the Demon
Not to be confused with the 1957 film of the same name (also on Screambox), 1980’s Night of the Demon is an unforgettable Bigfoot experience. It’s no surprise that the gory exploitation flick was prosecuted as a “video nasty” by the British Board of Film Classification upon its initial release. It’s best remembered for a scene in which Bigfoot rips off a guy’s manhood — and that’s not even the most outrageous death scene!
The cheesefest plays like an early slasher, but instead of a masked killer lurking in the woods, it’s a guy in a cheap gorilla costume.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Night of the Demon
Not to be confused with the 1957 film of the same name (also on Screambox), 1980’s Night of the Demon is an unforgettable Bigfoot experience. CSI: Vegas had some big shoes to fill since the spin-off started in 2021 because the original series was a fan-favorite and ran for 15 seasons.
CSI: Vegas Season 1 focused on establishing the team and ridding the team of the scandal that Hodges was accused of. They needed Grissom and Sara’s expertise to do that.
During CSI: Vegas Season 2, they brought Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) back to have another legacy character to entice long-time characters. Catherine interacted with more of the newer characters on a variety of cases, but she was gone for a few episodes at a time, which would disrupt the flow of her stories.
The season had its ups and downs as it struggled to find a mystery viewers cared about. Instead, the series excelled by featuring character-centric storylines or episodes that expanded on each character’s personality and family.

“Bigfoot” makes for a booming announcement as Freedia stomps all over the competition and delirious, speaker-rattling beat. “Call me Bigfoot stepping on these bitches necks,” Freedia declares on the hook, “I got a big foot but I’m getting bigger checks/They don’t see what’s coming next/You already know the rest/I got a...
