- James W. Hawk is a colleague of USVAA - United States Veterans' Artists Alliance in the categories of "film", "photography", "literature and poetry" . The United States Veterans' Artists Alliance (USVAA) is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary non-profit arts organization, founded in 2004 by military veterans and artists. USVAA provides opportunities for veterans in the arts by highlighting the work of veterans in the arts, humanities and entertainment industry along with the contributions veterans have made to the rich cultural history of our nation since the Revolutionary War. Additionally, USVAA networks with veterans, artists, supportive individuals and organizations within the arts and veterans' communities to find funding and support for individual artistic projects in theater, film, television, the visual/fine arts and a wide variety of crafts.

Hawk in addition to being a filmmaker is a photographic artist which means that he takes his best photographs and manipulates them with Photoshop to gave them that special appearance that he is trying to achieve for each of them. - James W. Hawk was associated with the Connecticut Film Industry Training Program (FITP) for its four year run. He was a student in the Prop Department section the first year. During the second and third years he was an Associate Producer for the student's film project and the Director, Producer, Writer and Editor for the "behind the scenes" film. The last year he was the Director, Producer, Writer and Editor for the "behind the scenes" film.
