A raw, gritty, and bluesy power rock band from
Cincinnati, Ohio. The group was formed in 2003. The original members
were: singer/guitarist/songwriter Erika Wennerstrom, drummer David
Colvin, bassist Adam McAllister, and lead guitarist Michael Weinel.
They performed their first live show at the Cincinnati
bar the Comet. Colvin, McAllister, and Weinel all subsequently left the
group; they were replaced by bassist Mike Lamping and drummer Kevin
Vaughn. They signed with the label Fat Possum Records in
2004. The band released their critically acclaimed debut album "Stairs
and Elevators" in 2005. "Stairs and Elevators" was ranked #12 on the 97
Best of 2005 list by the modern rock station WOXY. They
released their second album "All This Time" in 2006. The group
contributed the song "Pass and Fail" to the soundtrack for the film
"Black Snake Moan." Wennerstrom relocated to Austin, Texas in 2007. In
August, 2008 the line-up changed once again: Erika Wennerstrom remains
the sole constant member while the new members are original drummer
David Colvin and bassist Jesse Ebaugh. Heartless Bastards released
their third album "The Mountain" in February, 2009. The group appeared
as musical guests on "Late Show With David Letterman" on February 10,
2009. They were featured as the opening act for the
Australian hard rock group Wolfmother on their tour of America in the
fall of 2009. The band released their fourth album "Arrow" in early
2012. This was followed by their fifth album "Restless Ones" in 2015.
