The much-awaited return of the ghost detectives on the silver screen is finally available on Netflix, and the fans seem to love it. Based on the DC Comics characters of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, the Netflix series is created by Steve Yockey and it follows the story of two ghost detectives who decide not to ascent to their afterlives to stay on Earth and investigate the crimes involving the supernatural. Dead Boy Detectives exists in the same universe as Netflix’s hit DC fantasy drama series The Sandman, and while it is different from The Sandman in its story and visuals, the Dead Boy Detectives seem to be connecting with the fans. So, if you loved the charm and supernatural shenanigans in Dead Boy Detectives here are some similar shows you should check out next.

For four seasons, fans watched Melanie Scrofano, Tim Rozon, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, and Kat Barrell in the Syfy series Wynonna Earp — and it wasn’t nearly enough. So, when TV Insider spoke with Barrell about her latest Hallmark movie, A Tale of Two Christmases, we couldn’t help bringing up seeing the four together again. After all, Barrell, Scrofano, and Rozon have all starred in Hallmark movies, so what about seeing everyone together in one of those? “I love all those guys so much. It’s such a fun thing to think about putting us all in a completely different world than Wynonna,” Barrell shared. And if she could dream cast that movie? “I’m all for more queer storytelling. I would love to put Dom in a non-binary role on Hallmark. I think that would be absolutely incredible. I would love to tell a queer Christmas love story. I think...

Melanie Scrofano officially joins the Hallmark family with the February 26 film Welcome to Mama’s, and we know her character is going to get a happily ever after on there. But what was a surprise for the star was the exit her Wynonna Earp character got when the series ended its four-year run on Syfy in April 2021. Just as Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) was leaving town, Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley), just after marrying Nicole (Katherine Barrell), convinced her sister Wynonna to go after him. And Wynonna did just that, stopping him at the town line (and shooting out the tire on his car) before the two rode off into the sunset on her motorcycle (and presumably reunited with their daughter). “I don’t think I would’ve ever pictured a happy ending,” Scrofano admits to TV Insider while promoting her Hallmark movie. “But I think we were in a place in the...

Spoiler Alert: This post includes details about the series finale of Syfy’s Wynonna Earp.
It all came full circle for the Earp sisters in the series finale of Syfy’s Wynonna Earp. The supernatural series from creator, executive producer and writer Emily Andras, went out with a bang as Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano), Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and the rest of the gang gathered for one last family gathering at the homestead.
The final episode “Old Souls,” written by Andras, finally brought Waverly and Nicole Haught’s (Katherine Barrell) long-awaited wedding to center stage. As the soon-to-be newlyweds (a.k.a. WayHaught) prepared the Earp homestead for an intimate ceremony, Wynonna tries on her sister’s wedding dress for cheap thrills. The fun comes to an end when she realizes the wedding gown is impossible to remove, even when a non-Vampire Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) attempts to cut it off her body.

Wynonna Earp Season 4, Episode 8
Oh, to be a fly on the (probably Zoom) wall of the Wynona Earp writers’ room during the brainstorm session about which Halloween costumes each character should wear in this autumnal holiday-themed installment! Reader, they nailed it. Wynonna dresses as feminist hero Britney Spears (compliment of Waverly for both bringing the costume together and knowing that Wynonna would be into it), and Wonder Woman. Doc is bisexual icon Freddie Mercury. And Waverly… well, Waverly is a ladybug and then an angel. It’s all beyond perfect, and epitomizes just how much fun this slasher episode of Wynonna Earp truly is. Two episodes, and Wynonna Earp Season 4B continues to be… just an incredibly good time? There is a time and place for Important Television, and Wynonna Earp sometimes ducks into that intersection, but I don’t think we talk enough...

There seems to be endless low budget horror with titles like the one above (and I have watched many!). ‘The Curse of…’ or ‘The Haunting of…’ and it’s always 50/50 on the quality so I generally go in with low expectations.
I will say right off the bat that The Curse of Buckout Road exceeded those expectations. Buckout Road is ‘the most haunted road in America’ and the movie covers some of the myths, legends, ghosts and folklore that apparently haunt the road. There’s plenty on show and I’m sure plenty more if they were needed for a sequel. A group of young people start to think that these myths might...

Every small town has a haunted road, but New York's Buckout Road certainly rises to the top of urban legends and mysterious happenings that date back hundreds of years. That's the focus of The Curse of Buckout Road, previously known as just Buckout Road, which is getting a VOD and theatrical release on September 27th, and we have a brand new trailer and poster to share with Daily Dead readers.
"Buckout Road might be known as the most haunted road in New York State, but nobody really believed it… until now. A college class project on modern mythology turns deadly when a trio of students and an on-leave soldier discovers a series of horrific urban legends surrounding Buckout Road may actually be true. The deeper they dig into the road’s dark history, the more dangerous their quest becomes. From witches burning at the stake, to backwoods albino killers to a modern,...

“Wynonna Earp” fans can breathe easy.
Variety has learned that production on the show’s fourth season is set to begin with the premiere slated for summer 2020. Syfy had previously commissioned two more seasons of the Canadian import, but Idw Entertainment — which produces the show — had run into financial difficulties and was unable to begin shooting. Cineflix Studios has come aboard to co-produce with Cineflix Rights handling international sales for all four seasons of the series. Idw and SEVEN24 Films continue to produce.
The series airs on Syfy in the U.S. and Space in Canada. The first two seasons are also available on Netflix. The series is based on the Idw Publishing comic book series of the same name created by Beau Smith.
“Syfy has never wavered in its support of ‘Wynonna Earp,’ a unique and important series with some of the most passionate fans anywhere,” Syfy said in a statement.

The Wynonna Earp fandom can finally rejoice. There will be a fourth season of the popular series based on the Idw comic created by Beau Smith. Idw Entertainment, in partnership with Syfy, Space and Seven24 Films, said today that production on Season 4 is scheduled to begin later this year for premiere in summer 2020 on Syfy in the U.S. and Space in Canada. That will make for a two-year gap between seasons 3 and 4.
The fourth season of Wynonna Earp was delayed by issues with funding at Idw, which earlier in the year said that it was in danger of losing money on the show. Some of the difficulties stemmed from the series losing its international distribution deal with Netflix after the first two seasons.

The Wild West has been a long-held fascination in American culture, with hundreds of movies, books and TV shows produced around the subject. There has even been crossover with science-fiction before, with the beloved (yet short-lived) Joss Whedon show Firefly and the more recent Westworld. Well now comes another Wild West fantasy series in the shape of Wynnona Earp – which is based on Beau Smith’s Idw comic of the same name and follows Wyatt Earp’s great great-granddaughter as she battles demons and other creatures. On Wynonna Earp Season 3 Episode 5, Purgatory is sent into a frenzy by Jolene, breaking friendships and wreaking havoc between the reunited Earps.
It's a messy episode that tries to make up for the confusion in its fun factor, hinging entirely upon the dramatic irony served through Jolene, which none of the characters realize is the demon they are searching for.
The Jolene/Waverly and Jolene/Nicole scenes are particularly harrowing, allowing Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Katherine Barrell, and Zoie Palmer to shine.
Jolene breaking the close bond between Waverly and Nicole is also heartbreaking, but it's made up with a warming WayHaught scene at the end of the episode.
Waverly really is getting the short end of the stick this season, but it allows the show to dive into grittier and realistic territory without hinging upon horror. Rather, the darker aspects come from horrors that are based in reality.
