Robert De Niro is being eyed for the lead role in an upcoming film titled Gambling Man, based on Gary Green’s biography of the same name. In a plot that sounds quite similar to Casino, the story follows the personal escapades of Green, himself a famous casino boss, “through the history of the casino world from the last days of Meyer Lansky to his adventures as a Donald Trump Vice President.” Currently, the project has no writer or director attached and the rights have only just recently been acquired.
Coming off the dreadful Grudge Match, De Niro could use a solid role like this. He isn’t the actor that he once was and despite doing some good work in David O. Russell’s last two films (Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle), it seems that more often than not he chooses crummy projects that are just plain awful and in some cases,...

It's a little odd to issue a press release noting the actors you are seeking to play a lead role in your film, but if you want to get attention for your hitherto unknown project, it's a way to go we suppose. And certainly one can't ignore the name Robert De Niro. The folks behind Borsalino Films (whose only other project cooking seems to be something called "Nazi Zombies") have announced they've snapped up the rights to the book "Gambling Man" by Gary Green and are looking at De Niro for the lead. And if you're already thinking "Casino," you're probably not far off. The announcement states that: "The plot line will be nothing short of epic, like the book, pulling no punches as it traces the boss’s personal escapades through the history of the casino world from the last days of Meyer Lansky to Green’s adventures as a Donald Trump Vice President.

Los Angeles — A look at key moments this past week in the wrongful death trial in Los Angeles between Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, and concert giant Aeg Live LLC, and what is expected at court in the week ahead:
The Case
Jackson's mother wants a jury to determine that the promoter of Jackson's planned comeback concerts didn't properly investigate Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter by a criminal jury for Jackson's June 2009 death. Aeg's attorney says the case is about personal choice, namely Jackson's decision to have Murray serve as his doctor and give him doses of a powerful anesthetic as a sleep aid. Millions, possibly billions, of dollars are at stake.
What Happened This Past Week
_ Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe tearfully testified about the singer's fear of debilitating pain that he often experienced after sustaining burns to his scalp during a shoot for a...

Triple Threat: Dan Povenmire, Gary Marsh, and Swampy Marsh make mischief in the Phineas and Ferb offices.
Phineas and Ferb is the hippest, nerdiest, unlikeliest hit on TV -- and now Disney hopes it can be a SpongeBob-like cash cow.
What better way for a company to say danke schön to its rising-star creatives than hiring Wayne Newton and a bevy of feather-plumed showgirls to help express its feelings? Any lingering doubts Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh might have had about Disney's faith in their animated show, Phineas and Ferb, dissolved when Mr. Las Vegas himself started belting out the theme song for the program's Perry the Platypus character at last June's 2010 Licensing International Expo in Vegas. As Newton gave his own spin to lyrics like "He's a furry little flatfoot who'll never flinch from a fray" and dancers and actors, dressed like the show's characters,...
