We all enjoy speculating about future movies, but can this distract from the films already out now, James wonders...
When World War Z broke out in 2013, it all happened very fast. Brad Pitt and his family were just driving along, slowly inching their way through a traffic jam in the Philadelphia streets and suddenly - zoompf! The zombie apocalypse just came out of nowhere.
Rabid rakshasas started ripping all vestiges of modern western civilisation to shreds, attacking people who were simply going about their regular daily business. From there the whole planet is revealed to be falling to hell, Brad Pitt and fellow survivors of the viral uprising engaged in continent-crossing combat to repel the bloodthirsty hordes and find a cure for the contagion.
For Pitt's character, though, the turning point was that moment of realisation back in the Philly gridlock, back in the driving seat of his family's SUV.

With Gone Girl out now, and Fight Club about to turn 15, we take a look back at David Fincher's controversial and bravura cult film...
What the hell is Fight Club anyway? A horror film about a Jekyll-and-Hyde office worker who becomes a terrorist? A drama about late 20th century masculinity in crisis? A warped romance about a man trying to change himself into someone as interesting as the woman he loves? A thriller about a decadent generation goading itself into extremism?
Executives at 20th Century Fox certainly struggled with Fight Club. Unsure how to market a film in which young men beat one another to a pulp and stole bags of fat from the bins of liposuction clinics, the studio placed ads for it during World Wrestling Federation matches. Meanwhile, Fight Club's posters, dreamed up by an expensive design firm, featured a pink bar of soap with the...

I'm not one of those people who go crazy over every poster released by Mondo, but these two new ones for Fight Club and Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm are just plain awesome. We'll start with the Fight Club poster, which was created by Delicious Design League. The poster looks like it was inspired by the scene from the movie where Jack, Tyler, and the Space Monkeys threaten the police commissioner who wants to shut down the underground fights. It's a very cool looking...

As pop-culture obsessives and children of the 1990s mourn the passing of James Avery, aka Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, it's important to remember that Avery was the soul of another iconic '90s character. He was the voice of Shredder on the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, and we can never, ever forget that. Avery should have won The Sixth Man award for '80s television (an award we just made up). He guested on a wide swath of the decade's most iconic TV shows, including Webster, The Dukes of Hazzard, St. Elsewhere, Moonlighting, L.A. Law,...

Hopefully you've already seen the new trailer from Activision for the "Call of the Dead" zombies map in next week's Escalation Dlc for "Call of Duty: Black Ops." If you haven't, go watch it. Right now. We're going to talk about it after the jump, the various new features revealed and possibly revealed in the generous-yet-still-painfully-short series of images that flash by. Spoilers(?) and screen caps to come. You've been warned.
George A. Romero Swings A Powered-up Studio Light
Pretty simple. George A. Romero, the creator of "Night of the Living Dead" and modern zombies as we know them, is this map's "boss" zombie. We've previously seen Hellhounds, a weapon-stealing Scientist and Space Monkeys. Now it's Romero. Wielding a supercharged studio light like a sledgehammer. We'll have to figure out a way to take him down if we want to get his sweet, sweet Max Ammo.

Xbox 360 owners have been raising hell on the maps featured in the "First Strike Map Pack" for "Call of Duty: Black Ops" since its February 1 release. Everyone else has been kept waiting for the 360-first exclusive to make its way to the PlayStation 3 and Windows PC platforms. A new announcement from Activision now indicates that March is the month, so clear your calendars accordingly.
"First Strike" is coming to the PS3 version of the game on March 3 and to the PC version "later in the quarter," meaning sometime before the end of March. The news came as part of the publisher's quarterly financial results report, along with news of the franchise's Project Beachhead, which will focus exclusively on the series' community services and features.
In case you've been living under a rock, or simply avoiding any news about the still-exclusive "First Strike" pack, the $15 buy gets your four new multiplayer...

If you've been feeling some burnout from the zombie overload in pop culture of late, then you run the risk of missing out on some cool stuff. "The Walking Dead" TV series was great stuff and the just-released zombie map for "Call of Duty: Black Ops" features Space Monkeys, which is absolutely fine. Now there's news of an upcoming Xbox Live Arcade title from Undead Labs that the developer hopes will put a whole new spin on zombie video gaming.
The game, which is currently going by the codename "Class3," sounds an awful lot like an interactive take on "The Walking Dead." Undead Labs is building an open-world game that, as they describe in a new blog post, will "empower you to try out your real-world zombie survival plan." It's early in the development and a lot of the ideas being thrown around are of the big picture variety, but...

When "Call of Duty: Black Ops" launched last year I put together a little survival guide for the game's coop zombie survival mode. There's some helpful stuff in there for sure, but yesterday's release of the "First Strike" Dlc map pack -- specifically, the zombie map "Ascension" contained therein -- is obviously going to demand some new strategies. I'm still exploring the map and learning what it has to offer, but after a 30-round session last night I've got a few helpful tips to get you started.
(Click For Tips On The Other 'Call Of Duty: Black Ops' Zombie Maps)
Mind the Monkeys
Okay, here's how the Space Monkeys work. Once the power has been turned on and someone purchases a perk, these little buggers will start appearing every four rounds. They fan out and go after the perk machines for anything you've purchased. Successfully fend them off and you...

The "First Strike" map pack for "Call of Duty: Black Ops" is out today on Xbox Live Marketplace, bringing four new multiplayer maps and one new zombie map to the already features-packed experience. It's exciting stuff if you're a "Black Ops" fan... provided you're able to download the thing that is.
I grabbed my own map pack with no troubles this morning, but reports are coming in that some people are having a hard time downloading it. "Hard time" meaning, they can't.
The Xbox Live support page doesn't list this as being an issue anymore, so it could be fixed by now. Earlier there was a message on the site that read: "Users may be unable to purchase the following Dlc for 'Call of Duty Black Ops': First Strike: Pack 1 when using the Xbox 360 console. This content is available in the 'Cod Black Ops' in-game store and from Xbox.com.

The first of what is supposed to be many upcoming Dlc offerings for "Call of Duty: Black Ops" arrives on Xbox Live Marketplace sometime after midnight tonight, the "First Strike" Map Pack, which includes three new competitive multiplayer maps and a new co-op map for the game's zombie mode, called "Ascension." A bunch of new details about the zombie map emerged over the weekend and there's some exciting stuff you'll want to hear more about. Especially... Space Monkeys!!
I'm going to feed you the bare bullet points first for those who want just the fact and then elaborate a bit:
• Everything is in black & white until you turn the power on
• New Weapon: Matroyshka dolls – basically, they're cluster grenades
• New Weapon: Gersch Device/Black Hole Bomb – exactly what the name implies
• Thunder Gun is back, with a slightly different skin
• Landers are floating platforms that take you back to starting room.

Are you hopelessly addicted to the zombie survival mode in "Call of Duty: Black Ops"? Do you know off the top of your head what the most number of rounds you've lasted is, and on which map? 45 rounds on "Five," in case you were wondering. If you're obsessed as I am, then you'll be excited to read this news: details on the upcoming "First Strike" Dlc map pack's (out February 1) lone zombie map, "Ascension"!
I feel like someone might have pressed the wrong button at IGN UK, because I haven't seen this news reported anywhere else. There's a tiny mention of "Ascension" on the official "Black Ops" website -- it's set in a "Soviet launch facility" -- along with the screenshot pictured above. The IGN UK posting offers more detail, including new weapons, new perks and a new enemy. Here we go.
"Ascension" is described as being set in "an abandoned Soviet cosmodrome.

Bez has reportedly participated in an organised bare-knuckle fight over his ex-partner. The Sun reports that the former Happy Mondays dancer and Celebrity Big Brother winner, who was fined for breaking a two-year restraining order by contacting his former girlfriend Monica Ward last month, took part in the fight against Ward's new partner, ex-Space Monkeys bassist Dom Morrison. Photographs obtained by the newspaper appear to show Bez, real name Mark Berry, bloodied and cut while fighting in a room full of spectators. A source (more)...

This was truly a unique treat for us. We recently got a chance to catch up with Bryn Hammond (Editor/Company Director) and Emily Booth (Columnist) of Europe's best selling monthly horror magazine 'GoreZone' for a little Q and A. If you're not familiar with 'GoreZone' you soon will be as we go behind the pages to see what makes the staff and writers of the popular horror rag tick...

Question: GoreZone Magazine has such a dramatic look from other horror magazines why? What made you do it? Why use the tag line ‘Vogue for horror fans’?
Bryn Hammond : Well first and foremost I really don’t read very many horror magazines anymore. The horror boom was great in the 90’s and I loved Fangoria, but it lost that cutting edge it had and I stopped buying it. The recent rumours are very sad.
