Jay Malla Maldonado, Malla Entertainment served as Chairman and President of FilmMates Entertainment, Inc.,
from 2007 to 2017. Prior, he oversaw business development and investor relations at Filmmates Partners LLC., where he spearheaded the acquisition of feature films, "American Reunion," "Living Life" and the World Wide Multimedia film and television library. He was elevated to executive vice present where he played a key role in forging a strategic distribution deal with Vivendi Universal Visual Entertainment and the launch FME home video label.
J. Antonio Malla Maldonado was co-founder of the Producers Guild of America's New Media Council served on the Board of Governors where he chaired the sponsorship and finance committees and was instrumental in developing a strategic sponsorship with INTEL. In the late 90's he was partner at Lightforce Films, LLC based in Culver City. The company led by director Robert Pfitzner produced music videos, television commercials, and new media content for their multiple streaming media platforms. With Malla as executive producer the company business output flourished developing strategic alliances in the emerging new media entertainment ecosystem. The company's achievements in new media content where featured at the 2000 Yahoo On Line Film Festival in Los Angeles where they demonstrated a business model of branded entertainment content supported by advertising, sponsorship and subscriptions.
From 1987 through 1997, he led Malla Entertainment, a talent management shingle where he represented a diverse roster of comprised of recording artist, film directors, and screenwriters. His clients included Arista recording artist Babylon A.D., Atlantic recording artist Sleez Beez, Epic/Sony artist Blitzspeer, EMI's Flesh, Red Bullet International artist Jetland, writer- director Robert Pfitzner and director Martin Denning.
Additionally, Malla's production experience includes five years on the broadcast staff at WPIX TV Channel 11, New York, and the United Nations Television Broadcasting Studios. His film credits include producer, writer, and director of "Kiss of Deception" and "Incident in the Park."
A former rock musician, Jay Malla has composed and recorded over 50 songs. His Capitol Records debut album "The Koala" was re-released in 2008 to commemorate the band's 40th anniversary. His music production credits includes iconic New York City rock bands such as Revolver NYC, Glen Matlock and The Specters, The Magic Tramps and The Best. His composition "Mama Said" was co- produced by Rupert Holmes.
Jay Malla retired from performing in 1980 after a short stint with legendary rock guitarist The Joe Perry Project (Aerosmith) to attend the City College of New York Picker Film Institute where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production.
