Law & Order: Svu is back and wasting no time before getting into some of the most topical issues of the day.
Law & Order: Svu Season 18 Episode 1 revolved around terrorism, attitudes towards Muslims, and the problem of women who commit crimes while living with domestic violence.
These are difficult issues that can't be resolved with an hour long show. "Terrorized" ran the risk of contributing to stereotypes instead of defeating them and of having a muddled, confusing story.
However, this episode did a good job of keeping viewers entertained while addressing some of these issues, though it could have gone deeper.
The hour began in typical fashion, with a child running away in Central Park. Olivia was there with Noah, and it didn't look like she was paying all that much attention to what he was doing, either.
Instead of the expected missing child story, the runaway turned out to be...

Thursday's (March 20) episode of "Scandal" didn't leave fans waiting to see who was on the receiving end of that cliffhanger bullet Jake sent James and David's way last week -- and boy, was the resolution a bummer.
Since the show didn't tiptoe around who met their maker, let's follow suit -- though, if you haven't watched yet, you know, stop reading this.
It turns out that after Jake dispatched of Vanessa and Shelby (I remembered their names this week, just to see them get buried in a ditch!), James tried to make a run for it. And just like that, Jake put two in the White House press secretary's back and coerced David into working for him as a means of survival.
The loss of James, made by Jake (with a little help from Quinn, Charlie and a remorseful David) to look like a carjacking gone wrong, understandably left Cyrus at his lowest.

I’m not a TV producer — I just criticize them on the Internet. But putting my patented brand of bitchery aside for a second, I’ll admit it’s got to be tough to strike the right balance of good singing, emotional backstory and judges’ chatter during the audition rounds of a reality competition series.
That said, Episode 4 of The Voice‘s fifth season was one of those recipes that goes sideways from the first step: Maybe somebody didn’t leave the cake out in the rain, but the finished product sure was tear-streaked and a little bit soggy.
Not that there wasn’t talent,...

Taking in a bit of fresh summer air, Olivia Wilde took her furry pooch out for a walk in New York City on Monday (July 22).
The "Tron: Legacy" actress looked casually chic in skinny jeans, tan booties, and a tucked in grey t-shirt as her companion walked closely by.
Although Olivia may find her dog to be a perfect four-legged friend, some nearby walkers in the Big Apple decided to give their own opinions on what they thought of the adorable white pup.
"Dudes just walked by my pooch and me on the street and said 'now that's a gay dog.' NYC compliments do not get better than this. #fistpump," Wilde wrote on her Twitter page.

Scandal soared to the top of the pack in its sophomore season and finished the year as the number-one network drama in its timeslot. This success was thanks in large part to the show's extremely loyal following and formidable Twitter presence.
And, well, because the show is just that awesome.
To help pass the time until Scandal returns, let's revisit some of the best and worst moments of the season in Scandal's inaugural TV Fanatic Report Card...
Best Episode: Do we really have to choose the best? Can't we just say "all of them" and call it done? Well, we could. But where would be the fun in that?
Time and time again this season, Scandal kept us riveted and left us with our mouths hanging open that it's nearly impossible to choose a favorite. But the best episode of them all award goes to "Seven Fifty-Two," with "Blown Away" as a close runner-up.

There's no denying these two are head over heels in love.
Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde were caught kissing, cuddling, hugging, splashing, etc. (etc., etc...) while enjoying their holiday in Hawaii on May 28. The engaged couple was spotted making out in the water, giving beach-goers quite the show as they put their romance on Full display.
Sudeikis and Wilde have been basking in the Maui sun for the past few days, displaying lots of Pda despite being followed by photographers. (It really is true love).
Wilde recently gushed about her fiance to Marie Claire, telling the magazine's April issue, "I couldn’t wait to sit down and hear him talk. On our first date, in New York City, we closed the restaurant down at 2 Am! He didn’t kiss me, and I was madly in love. I was overwhelmed.”
Olivia may be overwhelmed, but we're verklempt.

"Scandal" has piled on the plot twists so fast and thick in its short lifespan that finding out who tried to kill Fitz, and his reaction to it, in Thursday's (Feb. 7) episode, felt like just another "whoa" moment in a show that lives for them.
The way some of "Scandal's" characters are shaping up, though, is cause for concern.
(Spoilers ahoy.)
It was Supreme Court Justice Verna (Debra Mooney)? Because she was so wracked with guilt about being complicit in the election rigging and fearful of being exposed before she dies? Ok, sure. And Fitz (Tony Goldwyn), upon hearing her confession, takes away her oxygen mask and pins her down until she codes? Well, you would have hoped for better from Fitz, but he doesn't want to lose his presidency.
The breakneck pace at which "Scandal" steers through its sharp plot turns is one of the things that makes...

It's Movie Night week on "Duets," so fingers crossed for "Up Where We Belong" and "Take My Breath Away," right? And no "My Heart Will Go On," please Lord.
1. Jennifer and John, "My Heart Will Go On," "Titanic"
Oh lordy. I am really skeptical they can do this song justice because vocally, it's big time. It also makes me want to vomit, as a piece of music. So I'll try to be objective. Vocally, the pure tone on the verses is lovely, for both of them. When they start the harmony, I wish Nettles would back off just a smidge because she's overshadowing the melody line, but it's pretty. On the big "You're here, there's nothing I fear," it would've been nice to hear more of John.
Overall, though, that was pretty strong and coming on a song I hate, that's a high compliment indeed. He is, of course, at the top of the leaderboard.

If you've got a crisis, Olivia Pope and Associates will solve it. Quickly. And quietly.
ABC's newest Shonda Rhimes hit, Scandal, is set in Washington, D.C., an area rife with scandals both fictional and factual, which gives this show enough reality to hook people who love it when strangers' lives are on the verge of unraveling. Olivia and her crack team of Jacks-(and Jills)-of-All-Trades handle all problems, large and small, fixing the personal and professional lives of others, often to the detriment of their own.
Scandal is, on its face, a procedural. Each week there's a new client to help, a new crisis to avert. But the characters make this show a procedural with guts and grit. And heart. And that's why I like it.
The first characters we meet in the show's premiere, "Sweet Baby," are new-to-the-action Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes) and Harrison Wright (Columbus Short...

Fringe Review, Season 4, Episode 14: “The End of All Things”
Written by David Fury
Directed by Jeff Hunt
Airs Fridays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
This week, on Fringe: Olivia gets some inspiration, Peter gets some answers, and September disappears
For many, the highlight of this week’s much anticipated episode will be the answers we finally get about the Observers. For this reviewer, it’s the return of the mysterious season one lights and Olivia’s abilities. If memory serves, this is their first mention since David Robert Jones came around the first time, and that plot line is one many had written off as an abandoned element of the show, one of those early ideas, like the Pattern, that the writers toyed with but ultimately chose not to pursue. Perhaps this is the case, or more accurately, was, and the PtB only chose recently to revive it.

Shearling is a huge trend for the fall and winter -- but that doesn't mean you have to break your budget if you want to rock the trend! From the runways to the racks in stores, we're seeing so much shearling -- but there isn't any reason to splurge when you can rock a faux-friendly version, just like Olivia Munn! Not only is the star conscious of what she wears, but she can also appreciate a good buy -- after all, her Old Navy faux-shearling vest retails for just $29. While Olivia may be showing off a bargain buy, she still manages to look casual and chic -- would you have ever thought her vest was under $50? If you want to work the trend, I recommend taking a cue from Olivia. Pairing it with high boots and a roomy shoulder bag is the best way to rock the look during the...

The (presumed) final word on Mariska Hargitay's involvement in "Law & Order: Svu" this season came from the head of NBC on Monday (Aug. 1).
Addressing reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour, NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said he "wanted to get clear" that Hargitay will appear in every episode of the show's 13th season. Rumors have swirled for a few months that Hargitay was reducing her involvement in the show, but Greenblatt says Detective Olivia Benson won't be going anywhere.
"Mariska is there in every single episode, and it's my goal to make sure that continues past this season," he says.
Greenblatt does allow that Hargitay, who recently adopted a baby with her husband, Peter Hermann, may reduce her filming schedule a little bit. "I think you won't notice anything," he says. "In the past couple years, it's my understanding, I think she's lightened her load in terms of...
