Randy Kemner

Randy Kemner was raised in Long Beach, California, and attended U.C.L.A. as a music composition major where he studied with Roy Harris, Henri Lazaroff and Paul Chihara. While there he co-founded the first jazz band at U.C.L.A. in 1969. Randy left college to work as a nightclub pianist from 1970 to 1982. While performing with a group "The Three of Us" at the Embers Shoreline in Long Beach California, animator William Hanna saw the band and contracted the trio to sing backup for his animated Christmas film "A Christmas Story." Randy never worked in films again, but continued performing including "The Midnight Riders" which earned an Academy of Country Music Award in 1980 for "Best Non-Touring Band." Randy retired from the music business in 1982 and began work in the wine business as a retailer and wine distributor. He is the founder and owner of The Wine Country, a well respected wine, spirits and gourmet store in Signal Hill, California founded in November 1995.
